We've signed one player while letting two of our higher earners go, not sure they constitutes as going for it.
Just as I say this, we are announcing another signing at 6:30.

Must be Kgosi Nthle as he's out in Spain training with us

So the Officially Going For It™ list is currently at...

Bradford
Mansfield
Scunthorpe
Exeter
Plymouth
Northampton
Salford

...there'll probably be a couple of teams not on that list getting into the top 7, so plenty of clubs gonna be having dire financial years it seems. Have I missed anyone? Crawley seem to be spending quite a bit too?
A few of them will blow it massively.

Two forwards in, one a kid on loan and the other brought in at the end of his contract hardly constitutes Crawley going for it.

Having said that we do have a lot of forwards and few defenders on our books.

Mansfield have only signed three players that includes Cook for a nominal fee and national living wages and Maynard who’s admittedly our top earner at £800 p/w but we got him on a free.

Also add Swindon to the list, they signed about 10 players really quickly which is a dead on for good wages and agent fees being chucked around, they are not getting away with having a big budget and being shit any longer.

Must be nice knowing the club is willing to spent some after making some coin.

To be fair, we spent around £350k last season on Pell, Norris and Stevenson so we're not afraid to spend a bit. Having made seven figures this summer I would expect us to reinvest a decent chunk of it.

Still need a couple more.

Cracking signing for Colchester, I think the only criticism of Brown is he can look lazy at times, but that's not the case and he'll pop up with a moment of quality out of nowhere. When he's properly on it he's one of the best players in the league, definitely the sort of player you want if you're aiming for promotion.

We, on the other hand, are going down.
If we got a decent fee I can half forgive it. However I doubt it and therefore this just adds to my disillusion with the club.

I had no idea to be fair, where do you think you rank budget wise? I suppose it’s because Colchester is never really talked about.

The closer we get to the season it's looking more and more likely that we are relegation bound.

We were one of the lowest goalscorers in the league and now have lost our three most creative players and are only strikers is a 36 year old who's been past it for a couple years now, and a youngster who has only ever played youth football.

Indeed. Quite galling to be in such a shit state we're losing our best player and brightest prospect to Colchester.

Even if they did have a few quid, I expect they still pulled our pants down, as per.

Anyway, if Macc and Bury go pop, we may survive until next season. Not saying fingers crossed, but it's gonna need something big from here.

We've signed Antigua international Dan Bowry on a year's deal. Just been released by Charlton and his only previous appearances were in the NLS or lower - I suspect this defender is being brought in as a squad player.

Good day for Colchester. I like how we're shaping up but it's looking increasingly difficult to get out of this league.

You were already on a silly budget for your crowd sizes, which will drop and you've started your recruitment by buying top end L2 players. It's gone to VAR though after your complaining...

Verdict? Going for it™. The referee and the VAR team have indicated that like the selfish boss of a company in crisis you have offloaded some high earners and then bought a sports car merely to keep up appearances. What could possibly go wrong?

We have seen the Radford mansion, we have seen their fake boobs, we have seen their posh little kids and we have seen their cars and helicopters. Verdict? Going for it Year of the Stag v3.0™

Brown is a top signing for Colchester.

But, why the hell have Cambridge agreed to sell him to another L2 club?!?

Calderwood and Strang's search for signings continues. Tyrone Barnett, Francois Zoko, Kyle McFarlane, Simon Dawkins, Rakish Bingham, Max Clayton, Craig Mackail-Smith and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas are the latest players that we've apparently been looking at.

God help us if that's true. I guess Emmanuel-Thomas might not be a bad signing.
Considering the quality of the player (JET) there must be other issues with him

Most of the nonces and caravans come from Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Notts.... Going to the "seaside".

Can get to Lincoln easier on train from Sheffield than Mansfield which is fucking odd.
I lived between the two (Southwell). This conversation is similar to asking which way would you prefer to be executed

One year left on his contract, so if we wanted to make money off him it would have to be in this window. Apparently Colchester put in the best bid. The thing is, knowing us and remembering how we got shafted by Luton for Berry, the fee we're getting is probably miniscule.

The club will probably announce Hoolahan tomorrow in an attempt to cheer fans up. The reality is we only scored 51 goals last season and 31 of those goals were scored by players no longer at the club, and Hoolahan who might be a big name won't fix are goalscoring issues.

Surprisingly we keep being linked to a loan for Ross Mccrorie from Rangers. I know he was injured, but he did play thirty times for them and is Scotland’s under 21 captain. Too good for us I would have thought.

Lowe is best mates with Gerrard. Sometimes it’s not about what you know, but who you know. Would be a great signing

We had offers from league one clubs but Col U offered us the best deal which includes a sell on fee. Great player on his day but has attitude problems. Last season when we needed everyone together he was putting cryptic tweets.

When he didn't win POTY, here put a tweet saying POTY awards were a joke and then deleted it straight after.

He was going into his last year and I think Calderwood wants to change the way we play. If we do sign Wes Hoolahan as rumoured then i'll be more than happy as him as a replacement.

I know why,and it is being Bessie mates, but he would be a hell of a signing. Our midfield would be awesome.
Has he moved for Jordan Rossiter yet? Now that would be a signing.

We've signed Jake Eastwood on loan from Sheffield United. We needed a new keeper but no clue if he's any good.

Re: NKP. I already knew what Bradford fans think of him so no need to ask. Hopeully he'll do well for us at least. Players released by relegated clubs are often a bit better than their standing would suggest. We've had to sign a whole new defence this summer but I think that's that side of things sorted now.

We need strikers so it seems like us and Crawley are cancelling each other out in the transfer market. If only we were playing them on the opening day eh.

Pressley has admitted we could be in for a wait as we'll definitely be going into the loan market for forwards. The caliber of player we want isn't available for us to sign.

I had to laugh at Jevani Brown's tweet where he said he was happy to have joined Colchester and was looking to get them 'back to where they belong'.

Where on earth did he think traditionally tiny little non-league Colchester actually belong?
