Not a signing but, as expected, Jonathan Forte has officially retired due to a chronic knee injury.

Apparently he has no cartilage left in one knee so no way he could play again. It’s a shame as we never saw the best of him but in his prime he was a very good player by all accounts.

Wish him all the best for the future.

It's a joke teams are still allowed to sign players once the season has started. Squad you start the season with should be the one you stick with. Should close at the same time as PL and Championship imo.

Rumours from a couple of people on the fishy that we are in for devitt. Similar rumours pre season.
It’s the fishy though so probably full of shite

No one at this level can pay that. Our top earner this season is less then £2.5k apparently. And our budget is nowhere near the smallest I wouldn't have thought.

Of course they can. What do you think Plymouth are paying Mayor et al. We’re picking up the majority of Doyle’s £5k per week wage and we’re not exactly flush.

Mansfield are paying that kind of money to a few as well. Bradford paying decent money for Vaughan and Donaldson probably.

Ok fair enough. Suppose that means we're punching well above our weight if we're anywhere near where we were last season then. From what I know, our top earner is around £130k p/a inc bonuses, and we have 6 players earning above £2k a week. The other 16 on less, some a lot less.

Wellens has said 3 players he is trying to offload take up 25% of our total budget. That means they are, on average, picking up £3k a week each - and that’s on contracts given out over a year ago.

Be a boring old league if money, or lack thereof, dictated success or failure.

We paid Walker that last season but I doubt we are paying any that now, although quite a few on 3k+ I imagine is a decent guess.

Morecambe average weekly wage is around £1,000 and that’s bar Macclesfield probably the smallest budget in the division - £2k/2.5k on average seems reasonable for FGR, not £2.5k top earner but that’s my take.

We paid Pope £4K in the promotion season at this level when he turned into Messi for a year.

It’s a lot for this level. Imagine the average is around £1200 a week or so. Strikers obviously command more as a rule.

Sounds like his only option, really. No way will he move south.

We are reportedly set to sign George Miller on loan from Barnsley. He had a good scoring record at Bury but then struggled at Bradford. He also runs very weird.

We currently only have one fit striker so a warm body will do.

Wow unlucky, he's awful. Can't trap a bag of cement, finishing is erratic and is as weak as piss. He'll struggle big time with the physicality of league two imo.

He didn’t fair very well with us last season, as you’ve touched on. However, before the waves of City fans come to throw their tuppence in; not many players shone brightly last season.

He clearly has some ability, and right now, L2 is probably just about his level.

Alternatively, just throw Rory McArdle up front.

We were told Josh Morris was terrible by Bradford fans and he turned out to be incredible. We then we're told McArdle was past it and that one was quite accurate (even if he's a goal scoring machine this season). Perhaps every other player we get who last played for Bradford will work out.

Anybody got a “foreign” striker who’s not made their squad for whatever reason recently ? Apparently we had a foreign striker watching our game tonight.

I’m surprised people said that about Morris. No one expected him to go do what he did, but we barely saw enough of him to form an opinion.

Could be Kevin Van Veen. He's injured we think but there has been absolutely no comment from Hurst on his injury like he has commented on others injuries. Seems strange and he could be on his way.

We're about to make a signing. Might well be trialist Christian Mbulu. If he signs, he'll become our 4th choice CB.

Hoping for a striker to be honest.
Trialed for us last season in a pre season friendly against Ajax (where we won 2-0!) and looked quite good, never offered him a deal though.

He is probably the weakest striker I have seen in a Bradford City shirt. I have no idea what Barnsley saw in him to pay out £250k for him last season. He is a million miles away from being good enough for the Championship.

His control and first touch were abysmal, so easily knocked off the ball, never won a header, and his finishing is woeful. The only thing he had going for him, was his pace, but never did anything with it, and yes, he does run very weirdly

He’s dire, quick like Gillead but he couldn’t even get in our team last season THAT’S how bad he is.

I agree. Being a striker for City last year was thankless. Runs a lot. Barnsley must have seen something in him. He suffered slightly from being a loan signing in a squad with too many so sometimes he had to be left out
