Hanson's form didn't really dip during the second half of the season, in terms of performances so you got that wrong unfortunately. Some of his best games last season were under Holloway. It is interesting though that the best ever striker L2 has ever seen only got 2 more down here last season than someone like Hanson who is absolutely terrible, even despite Vaughan playing out of position you'd have thought that he'd have had a way more fruitful season than Hanson.

Well, strikers are judged on goals. Hanson notched a brace at Walsall in Aug and then went 17 games without scoring. Not even nearly good enough. You don’t have to educate me on Hanson’s strengths and that he has more to his game than goals, but apart from the 6 assists, what was he doing for 5 months (Sept-Jan)? He goes missing - has and did do for years under previous regimes at BCAFC.

I don’t recall anyone suggesting Vaughan was the best striker L2 has ever seen. Two completely different strikers; one scores frequently and the other holds the ball up.

It would appear we’ve got Joe Murphy in on a free as both a backup goalkeeper and goalkeeper coach. He was released by Shrewsbury at the end of last season.

A sensible choice to have. Saves a wage with one doing a duel role....Crazy to pay some one a good wage just to sit on a bench all season

I think what we offered Doyle was much the same as he accepted from Bolton - plus they, incredibly, offered him a 3 year deal and was close to home.

As much as I would have wanted Doyle for a season, I’m glad we never offered him 3 years.

Goalscoring forwards have always been a premium....Swindon will need one for the next three seasons
So you are happy to sign another who may not get you the goals Doyle will

I’m happy we haven’t committed to Doyle for 3 years, yes. Not sure if he would be anywhere near so prolific in L1, either. In fact, after joining on a perm and being back at Bradford a month in January he only scored twice until the lockdown.

Otis Khan, Spearing and maybe Vaughan will be in good money....Proberbly on more than Doyle,Sarcevic and Crawford.....Yet we have been accused of Overspending etc......truth is nobody knows if these deals are good deals or not
The crucial point is that whatever we are paying those players we can actually afford it, because we are not bankrolled, have virtually no debt and are owned by a generally cautious accountant.

Quite agree. We are in our final year of a transfer Embargo which restricts us from buying any player or even paying agents money. We can only carry so many in our squad and contracts have to be passed by the EFL.

We have recruited well, and kept to all these conditions.

Rumours of us signing ex rangers defender bilel moshini are getting stronger. Impressed on a trial pre lockdown.

Apparently a bit of loon but quality if he can stay on the pitch.

I’m all for us having someone who can turn into a cult hero though. Mind you, the last time we signed a ‘hard man’ was Gavin Gunning and he very much lived up to his name Mad Gav. Surprised one of his ‘tackles’ against Crewe or Morecambe I think, didn’t result in a ghb charge!!

We had 2 trialists playing in a friendly at Fleetwood this afternoon (lost 4-2).

Joe Fryer, ex Middlesbrough goalkeeper, but we know all about him as we had him on loan 2 seasons ago before he snapped his leg against Crewe.

and Junior Mondal, most recently with Forest Green.

Ryan Cooney signs on loan for the season from Burnley. Quality player, who is far too good for us. On par if not better than Tanner at right back, so this was crucial for us to get sorted. Delighted. With this going through, it probably means we'll re-sign Adam Phillips from Burnley as well in the next few days, who was also brilliant when he came in.

Adams seems to be making some shrewd signings. Can't see you having another season of struggle to be honest.

What's Theo Vassell like? Looking like he might be the last defender we sign this summer.

Local journo now confirming Vaughan close to exit.

I've no faith in us whatsoever to replace a 15-20 goal a season striker so this is a massive problem for us, as we have no other source of goals.

If he goes up with Tranmere and top-scores after the Swindon-Doyle debacle, they’ll be protests at Valley Parade.

We must be significantly compensated for this to be even considered.

Just cannot see them paying that sort of money

Hopefully it is someone who is in L2 next season, I really really wanna vent some anger his way.

The way he has conducted himself since arriving here is nothing short of disgraceful.

Very different to last summer where it felt desperate before the season had even started. I said we'd sign Shaun Miller on deadline day as soon as the season before had finished. Bentley had become far too predictable and reliant on his former players coming back, which has never worked. Barrow's reserves took the absolute piss out of our first team in that preseason.

Adams has been a breath of fresh air to be honest and has totally changed the momentum on and off the pitch. We're now pretty proactive when previously we were sleeping our way towards relegation and probably administration if Jimbo hadn't left. He's been a kick up the arse that everyone needed, owners included.

Perhaps we’ll take him on loan!

Jesus, your literally building the Vale squad of 18/19!

He was pants for us in the main but think he did better for Macc.
