The comments are about Holloway not signing players because they want paying if a second wave hit
Well yeah, I'm not sure what think I said you're disagreeing with. I was just saying that at this level many players aren't especially wealthy and won't want to just agree to give up their pay should a second wave hit.

Pretty sure the average League Two wage was more in the region of £75k a year.

Not sure what it would be but if it were in that ballpark that would be significantly inflated by Salford paying some ridiculous money to some of their players. The standard professional at this level I would hazard a guess is about £52k a year or thereabouts. I doubt many at Morecambe for example are getting much more than that.

average weekly wage at Morecambe is around £1200, that’s with one of the lowest budgets in the division.

Vale fans seem to have taken Holloways comments to heart, weird. It’s not breaking news to suggest clubs are taking a huge risk by not taking precautions around money when it comes to player wages. If the worst happens we automatically have a plan in place to save the club from the very worst scenario. Some clubs seem to be totally ignoring that could be a possibility and Ollie is absolutely right, they’re mad.

I think its being seen in jest to be honest.

We will have plans in place in in fairness I assume their business probably is stable enough and one where staff can be used from home and be highly utilised being a data analytics company so probably have enough to cover it.

Would you agree to a huge pay cut if lockdown happens again? Hard to ask most L2 players to do that.

David Fitzpatrick has signed, left back who scored a worldie for Macc against us, and Dino Visser expected to be completed in the next day or two.

Thats Left Back sorted, didn't think we'd go for him to be honest but guess we got Theo cheaper enough over Maynard to bring him in.

i think most teams have i follow to guard against fans not being able to watch the games. Your season ticket now incldes i follow games....hence you may not claim money back for games you have not watched live.
We have shifted 5500 season tickets and have circa £1m in the pot for players wages already

Good we’ve brought in Fitzpatrick to add some competition at left back with Monty. Think he was always pretty solid at Macc and obviously scored a worldly past Brown at VP a couple of seasons ago so if he can do that once or twice for us that will be a bonus.

Also like it from the perspective of Crookes as it means he can now focus on developing at centre back which is his proper position.

I wasn’t on about dismissing promotion, I’m on about the ‘he would only sign for Mansfield over Vale for money’ that’s a unfair assessment in the current climate, and shows you have a unrealistic heightened view of Port Vale in comparison to other L2 clubs.

I’m fully aware historically your natural level is a step above this, but that’s not going to make a difference. Having good owners, and being a good club like I think Vale are will help, but there’s many others at this level that can say the same.

I think Vale are one of the safest bets to do well next season, I wouldn’t even dare predict how we will do.
You forgot to mention feeding all the poor and underfed population of stoke and it surrounding areas

I think our signings this summer are signings to make the squad stronger. I don't see any of them as guaranteed starters. But all of them with the exception of Rodney, who is a kid learning the game, are an improvement over those we released. When our bench could look something like Visser, Brisley, Mills, Oyeleke, Montano, Robinson and Pope, that shows we have strength in depth now.

Plus the likes of Fitzpatrick, Crookes and Whitehead.

Only weird query was what is the League Two rule on numbers of non u21 players can you have as sure we have gone over by 1 if one needs to go that we can use in the league?

Strength in depth will be crucial with the heavy fixture schedule. Think Vale will be up there and be better than the likes of Bolton this season.

A modern day club legend is Fitzy, the only ever present player in the period where we got to Wembley, won promotion and pulled off a great escape from relegation, and acted as a mouthpiece for the players last season while the club kept silent. A solid defender and comfortable on the ball with his trademark 'cut inside' gimmick. A scorer of not many goals, but all of them either crucial or spectacular. I wish him lots of success and slightly less off field turbulence at Vale.

We’ve got Bradley Garmston, ex Gillingham and Grimsby and Lewis Page ex Charlton on trial tonight at Tiverton.

Page is playing the first half and looks decent so far. Left back.

I don't like it when other people tip us to do well. As a Vale fan usually when you start to get optimistic and have belief the team and club finds a way to shove a Pineapple violently inside your rectum, and kill your hopes and dreams! It is nice though on the other hand to not have to be considered as relegation fodder form all quarters. Our owners rightly get a lot of credit but I really think John Askey deserves as much credit for our turn around too. He's not Jürgen Kloop. Far from it. But after suffering with the likes of Neil Aspin and before him Michael Brown, just the fact that he is sensible and has a calmness about him when he speaks makes him seen like some sort of lower league Gus Hiddink in comparison to those two!

I love how we've gone from decades of not having a pot to piss in to the reckless ballers chucking out silly contracts in the space of zero to Theo Robinson.

Makes a nice change to be fair.

Though I also like how we're actually committing to paying our players for the duration of their contract. Proper club.

When I was looking up Fitzpatrick on wiki it took me to a link for Danny Rowe. Lincoln/ Ipswich, incredible to see he hasn't got a club at the moment.
Maybe on big bucks at Ipswich and I'm sure we made a cash bid a few years ago for him.
Quality player.

Made our first signing with central defender Tommy Smith to replace Luke Prosser. Two years younger and has spent all of his career at higher levels than Prosser so, on paper at least, appears to be a decent upgrade.

I know I'm in a minority among our lot but I hope we haven't caved and gone in with a higher offer for Maynard who's only interested in the highest offer. Can't blame him for that but half the time he didn't look happy here anyway and we've got 5 strikers as it is.

Winger isn’t he? We have four of those already, plus are going to have to cut one of our over 21 players already from the league squad. Can’t see anyone but Visser now and maybe the odd loan.

Trialist Junior Mondal has failed to get a contract and has now left. Rumours are he couldn’t find a suitable job in the area.

Dean Furman still remains on trial. I’d expect him to be offered something as we’re light in the midfield area.

Danny Rowe is a cracking player, very good for us on the wing or used as a striker. I would still have him in our squad for this season in Lge One.

Cheers sons crying, nice one.

Cooking and delivering 150,000 odd pvfc branded food parcels for kids not getting free school meals and vulnerable adults shielding across Staffordshire because of Covid is an exceptionally honourable thing to step up and achieve, end of story. Any club should be proud of that. Even if it was those c*** down the road doing it I'd acknowledge it as very admirable.

16% of kids across the entirety of England are eligible for FSMs due to insufficient parental income. Don't pretend there aren't any in Mansfield. Don't pretend either that if it was Mansfield doing this (hint, it isn't) you wouldn't be proud of it. This is the sort of club Vale are now, and yes, it is a draw for players because it's all about people being looked after - player, fan, or random 7 year old in Alsager who's probably a Man Utd fan but who's single mum is skint and the kid needs feeding. Vale will do it because the useless fucking council won't. Shanahan and the Vale players spent lockdown ringing ST holders to see how they were holding up. When they took over they paid a trade debt that they weren't liable for but did anyway because it was the right thing to do. They're very nice people. The last 20 years of cancer is being excised to reveal a very nice club. These are huge pulling factors for potential signings.

I know mate, you've already mentioned it.

Very funny. I presume though that his injury didn't help. He hasn't featured in any friendlies since the first.

150,000 meals delivered out of the goodness of their own hearts. Complete with club branding.
