Connor was great for us in L2 and ok in L1 so good to see him return. Sounds like a mutually beneficial deal given he’s not quite hit it off with Colchester fans. With that said the whole reason he left us for Colchester in the first place is he and his family live in Cambridgeshire and he couldn’t do the commute any more. Unless he’s planning on upping sticks closer to SOT that issue won’t be any different now.

I know all signings at this level are a bit of a lottery and players can be great at one club and poor for another, but Hall was generally a huge let down for us. Came with a lot of fanfare from Port Vale fans and he was a total liability most of the time. Looked ok for the first five months alongside Luke Chambers, but last season he took on the role of captain and had a shocker of a season - uncomfortable on the ball, costly mistakes every other week and arguing with fans. His only 'leadership' I ever really saw was that he felt the need to shout and point at his head about concentrating after every goal we scored.

Can't imagine many will be too disappointed to see him go.

He didn't even want to leave us in the first place. It'll do him the the world of good to be back somewhere where he's universally adored and surrounded by much better players.

At least you get part of your money back that you paid us for him.

I'm really surprised at that to be honest. He was a rolls Royce defender for us in league 2. Classy on the ball. Huge part of our promotion side. He didn't quite hit the heights in league 1 but I thought he'd be one of Colchester's better players.

Perhaps he just didn't settle or was playing in a poor side where the defence was regularly under pressure?

I'm always a bit wary of going back for an old player but I think he knows the club and did really well for us at this level before.

Buzzing! Loved Connor Hall, exactly what we need at the back and hopefully get the player that was stand out in our last promotion.

Selling him 18 months ago started for decline, we’ve never ever recovered from losing him so I am delighted. Probably about us done in terms of where we are at, maybe a right back if greedy but fair play to Carol she’s doing all she can to right the wrongs and investing heavily in doing so. Whatever happens now we can’t say we haven’t had a go at it.

Translation: Artell is playing real life Champo.
It will be interesting to see how many of these lads we bring in and what the standard of player is like - I always thought it would be a good idea to bring in Scandinavians with the fishing heritage and relatively similiar climate to us - we tried it with Ohman and Ring didn't we and although they looked okay were hardly standout lower league players . Interesting times I guess

Lincoln have made a "significant" bid for Rob Street.

It's a fire sale at Whaddon Road.
Looking at your reporter's latest tweet, I wouldn't say a bid that could reach 6 figures with add ons, as significant. Especially with Palace owed 40%.

I was surprised with the original tweet, but this seems very much in line with what we pay.

Hopefully we can tempt Eidur Gudjohnsen out or retirement, only 45 so should be ok at League 2 level for a year or two.

I'd just be wary. We brought in loads of random players from foreign leagues who looked unbelievable on YouTube but were predominantly pub players. The English Pyramid is far superior to many European leagues.

Two signings from non-league clubs for Rovers to file under development.
Josh Williams Midfielder from Connah's Quay Nomads 19 year old and made a Wales C squad, 2 year deal.
Sol Solomon Striker from Marine 23 year old on a 1 year deal. Bit surprised he hasn't been given 2 years also, fairly prolific for Maine and before that Jersey Bulls. Suggestion from Adkins that we might use him as a winger.
Unless there are departures, then around 3 players short of Adkins suggested squad size. One of the additions will be a back-up keeper, after that there will still be a need for some defensive cover.

I'm not familiar with the lad from Marine but Josh Williams has a bit of buzz about him. Interesting signings.

Yeah we brought in 3 players from the Swedish league a few years , they didn't last that long . I don't know what this Icelandic league would equate to in terms of level tbh it's hard to tell tbh but on the highights the grounds look relatively empty lol

To be fair, Donny's ground is usually relatively empty and they made the playoffs last season.

Surprised at Connor Hall returning, he played very well when he first came here and then lost a bit of form and fitness, hope he can get back to the player he looked at first. He must have missed his oatcakes down south.

I agree it is a bit of a step into the unknown but this lad has 5 full caps for Iceland who are far from being the worst European International team. Plus he is at an age where he could/should improve.
Time will tell but IF it happens, but it seems no more of a gamble than many others recruited in League 2

Cheltenham are signing Owen Evans after his release by Walsall.

I always liked Owen when he was at Cheltenham before. Other Cheltenham fans do not feel the same though :D

Been a few times more to climb erupting volcano's and stuff but the grounds are tiny, mostly around Reykjavik but the population is that of Leicester so not the greatest standard but as we know they do produce enough to field a solid enough international outfit.

The longer Owen was here the more he regressed. Looked shot of any confidence at all.

I was looking at his stats earlier - seemed to have a great 22/23 season then absolutely fell off a cliff last season.

He's definitely a confidence keeper. Needs a strong defence in front of him.

That does sound a little more 'us', rather than some of the figures initially bandied about that seemed a bit pie in the sky.

Looks like Lewis Leigh is going to join Bromley permanently.

Wants regular football instead of just being sent out on loan for the next 2 years which is what would happen if he stayed here.

On the subject of Bromley doesn’t seem they’ve been very active in the market as yet. Not saying whether it’s right or wrong but it’s an interesting strategy going with pretty much the same squad that they went up with as it stands at least.

Any MK fans able to give info on Jay Bird?

We’re about to sign him and saw he was with MK Dons a couple of years ago, but looks to have had some injuries which saw him get released, and ended up most recently at Arbroath.

Signed Sowunmi from us. Big unit of a centre half who is reasonable. Presumably they had quite a decent side to get up, continuity might go a long way in season 1.

Fleetwood sign Zech Medley from Belgian side. Started at Chelsea, then Arsenal over to Gillingham and then Kilmarnock. 6'5" so he'll more than fill a gap and hopefully become a decent player for us. Apparently both Manchester clubs were in for him, along with Scousers and Spurs but sees his future at the Cod Army lol

Signed Josh Gordon on a 2 year deal and Tommy Simkin from Stoke on a seasons loan highly rated young keeper.
