Yeah, not as convinced with this signing yet but I do think it could go either way. My main hope is that the Cowleys have emphasised that they're big on character and they had Taylor years ago - so I would hope they know him and how to work with him etc. If they can channel his attitude the right way then it may work out and, if not, it's only a one year deal.
What’s the crack with Matt Jay? He seems to have really struggled since leaving us, but I heard he fell out with your previous manager?

If you can get the best out of him, he can certainly score plenty in L2 so I hope he gets a chance this season from the Cowleys.

All we need now is an established right back along with one or two attacking players who have pace and creativity. Then we'll at last be sorted enough to absolutely steam roll this tinpot league with Charlie Wyke being our 30 goal a season striker who let's be honest, would walk straight into any L1 team and you know it!

Also don’t forget that last season he was banging them in for Rotherham up in the Championship.

You don't need to tell me about Wyke. I've said a lot more times than you on here that he's easily top end League 1 standard, so I'm with you on that. But you're talking about one player there. Your original post was we'll be a top half league 1 team, yet it will largely be made up of players that proved last season that they weren't even bottom half league 1 standard.

So again, how do you come to the conclusion? You can't just base it on one player.

He's never really had a look in and is widely rumoured to be leaving this window. Mostly just had a few minutes here and there off the bench so, whilst he hasn't really done anything in his time on the pitch either, he hasn't exactly had a run in the side to show what he can do. If he's still here then maybe that could be different after a pre-season that isn't under Garner, but we're still expecting a few more departures and I suspect he will be one.

I was really excited by his signing as he seemed to cause us no end of trouble whenever we played and his record for the past couple of seasons at this level was unbelievable but it hasn't worked. Perhaps he never really settled moving so far away from Exeter.

Come on then Wombles... tell me how rubbish Nik Tzanev is. He is very much coming in as a back up to Lee Burge, but Burge has injury problems in recent years so he may well feature at times. My main memory of him is letting in a slight deflected goal at your place against us, the ball trickled in seemingly moving at a snails pace... not a good sign now.

Well he is decent as back up but not as your first choice keeper. He's prone to a mistake . He's not the type of keeper who is comfortable playing out from the back.I never felt that he commanded the box either. However he's absolutely fine for a back up. He was sat on the bench for the majority of last season.

Think we proved ourselves last season that top half l2 standard is still well beneath bottom half l1 standard.

Banging them in for Rotherham in the Championship?, you need to recheck that fact mate.

Would walk into any league 1 team?, then why have Wigan released him?

By the way, not sour grapes, because yes, I wish we had have signed him, still think Andy Cook will score more than Charlie Boy, and it won't be anywhere near 30 goals

Rio Adebisi to Peterborough confirmed. I think we've got about £350k plus a sell on, which is less than he's worth but not bad considering he's out of contract and could have gone to a club outside of England for free.

To be fair with Peterborough if you’ve stuck a sell on clause in that as well that’s probably more important than the initial fee. They do have a good record of getting maximum value for players they sell on so could easily double that initial £350k.

Yeah, the sell on is the crucial part really. If he has another season like the last one, he could realistically go again in a year or two. I would hope we'd never have done a deal which didn't include a decent sell on.

We're signed Max Sanders from Orient. Don't know much about him but he's a midfielder who was apparently our number one target before Ethan Robson, but we weren't able to get him earlier on. We missed out on Robson but then Sanders became available for us...

Played 30 odd times for Orient last season in the league above, also played quite a few games at Lincoln. So looks a decent pick up. Leaves us with some good experience and depth in midfield. Thomas, Powell and Sanders along with 2 of our own in Tabiner and Holicek.

Carver didn’t say we are top half league 2 standard though, he said we are a top half league 1 team. That’s the bit I’m questioning.

Sanders is an interesting one. Only started 54 league games despite being 25. Joel Tabiner has started 42 and he's 5 years younger. Still, looks like a decent pick up and some much needed depth in midfield, given Conor Thomas' fitness record and Jack Powell's who knows when recovery from his ACL.

Covered in midfield, just need a GK, LB, experienced CB, winger and striker now.

Should be getting a striker before the end of the week and I think he's a good one.

Fair enough. It’s a shame he’s never been given a proper run of games. As you say, he’s got a very good record in L2, but I agree maybe he’s found moving away difficult, which is bound to impact your game.

I did hear a whisper he may come back here as a backup player, but not convinced that’s likely as Caldwell didn’t really seem too keen on him. Perhaps a love to someone like Cheltenham or even Yeovil in the NL wouldn’t be a bad thing for him.

Sanders was a tidy player for us, had a couple of good games playing in that number ten role. But as mentioned, doesn't start as many as he should as he appears to be a bit injury prone.

Suprised we've sold him tbh, he was in the last year of his contract and we've made a small profit on him. I can only assume we're trying to fund bringing another target in or Sanders wanted out.

I think that's a smart pick up tbh , good business getting that decent fee and improving the squad . I have seen Sanders a couple of times looks a better version of Ainley as a player . Tidy with a bit more end product I thought . Maybe the Alex will be in contention again ?

Sometimes it only takes one quality player like a Charlie Wyke to lift the rest of the team up to another level.

I'm sure that he can be a real talisman for us.

Just look at Wrexham with Mullin, without him they would still be down here.

He was released by Wigan because he had a falling out with their manager apparently and the manager was 100% to blame. Wyke had offers from clubs at higher levels but chose us because we're a big modernised ambitious well run wealthy club who have a vision.

Can you lot say the same about your club? No, you can't because you're destined to be stuck down here for a long time and to fall even further behind clubs like mine.

What an awful post.

That post there is an embarrassment to not only our club but to yourself. Why cant you just post like a normal football fan?

You consistently bring shame on our club and our fans.

You’re a disgrace.

Kyle Cameron’s brother in law is spreading on Twitter he’s been made to train with the’B team’ (didn’t know we had one). If anyone wants a centre-back who gets his family to have a tantrum on his behalf on social media every time he’s unhappy.

Would quite like to see the back of him personally
