11k a week for Kirk is ridiculous money to be paying.

Vale have signed midfielder Rakeem Harper. Formerly of West Brom. Not familar with him but seems to have been a member of their promotion squad but then had some loans down the pyramid in L1 and 2?

Was a brilliant player for us. Regularly topped the assists chart when at Vale. Age and injury caught up with him a bit at the end and didn’t really do so much for Barrow so I believe but in the sixth tier you’d think he could contribute really well.

Pace usually not a problem here really shall see how he does, think he’s come here as he has been getting his coaching badges and been involved coaching Curzon youth.

He was never really blessed with great pace even at his peak. Just an ability to just shift half a yard and get a cross in off either foot. That would tally up with him coaching as he was doing that while still at Vale. Wouldn’t shock me once his career is over if he gets involved coaching the academy here. He’s always been a favourite of our owner.

He played for us in the second half of our last relegation season. He didn't look great but he was playing in a bad team and he definitely wasn't fully fit. There's certainly a player there but I don't think he's done much for a while. Think he was linked with Barcelona and all sorts when he first came through at West Brom but it's obviously not really happened for him yet.

Yeah looking into it has a breakthrough season in a promotion side in the Championship under Darren Moore, big money move and not really pushed on.

We need cover there and it’s a sensible one I think, we just need him to be better than Jason Lowe as with Byers out if we lose Garrity or Croasdale we have Lowe and we saw on Saturday when he had to come on the huge drop in quality (not a dig on Lowe who’s played at the top level but he’s not got the legs anymore). We can’t recall Ojo until January and we can’t rotate and sounds like both are struggling a bit so this gives us an option until Byers is back.

We just need him to cover and if he does re discover his previous form under Darren Moore at WBA then its a huge bonus.

Jeff King going to York, not sure if loan or permanent.

Unfortunately league 2 has looked above him, been a poor signing.

That's not surprising to hear. Defensively I've always viewed him as a leak weak and easy to exploit which we thankfully did in a couple of games a few seasons back in NL.

I think top end NL is his level.

Still love Jeff for all he's done for us that season and wish him well.

Yea was always going to be the case I think. He was displaced by a right winger for a lot of last season as Cook didn't trust him, and that's in the NL. I don't see Freckleton as a league player either, he just doesn't have the head for it. I'm not sure how you can fix the mindless moments that he has. Might be wrong of course.

I think it was a poor move for him going to Swindon. I know he had plenty of others in and around the Manchester area within the NL, closer to where he’s based, but I think he was so desperate to prove Cook wrong / play in the EFL that he took the one offer he had at this level rather than what was actually best for him. Can’t blame him for that though as an ambitious player would always want to test themselves at the highest level possible, but upping sticks and heading south away from everything he knows, especially to a club that seems to have a lot of turmoil going on off the pitch was probably never going to work for him.

I agree with others that he is a top end NL wing back who will always be a threat going forward but unfortunately has big limitations defensively. Hope it goes well for him at York.

Freckleton has been disappointing as well to be fair. He wasn't in the squad at all over the weekend so maybe Holloway isn't impressed either.

Always the risk… season long loans seem rare, they are either good so get recalled or not good and get sent back.

We learnt the hard way last season with Arblaster and Devine.

In fairness that’s one area of the pitch we’ve got plenty of depth in so we will be fine, but he is some player and would definitely be a loss.

Ah well, will just enjoy him whilst he’s here!

Brandon Cover appears to have deleted all his Leicester City bio and pictures of instagram according to one of their fans and after kissing the Vale badge when he scored v AFC Wimbledon rumours abound that he is to sign with us permanently.

Been a revelation so would be a great long term signing with his potential, all be it did have his worst game for us yesterday!

If true saves the risk of losing him Arblaster style and believe he is out of contract in the summer so if we meet their compensation demands would be a good move for us.

It was a weird loan signing just as the season kicked off but he made an instant impact and has been ever present in the team. Him signing permo would be excellent

JANUARY JUMBLE SALE

We’re likely to be having a jumble sale come January.

Plenty of items available, some expensive RRP being flogged at knockdown prices. Some big give aways as well.

Rumoured items that may feature in the big January jumble sale:

Harry Lewis
Harrison Neal
Josh Vela
Luke Armstrong
Ben Barclay
Dylan McGeouch
Jack Robinson
Ben Williams
Jude Smith
Archie Davies (may need some repair work)

More will likely be announced nearer the time.

Come down, grab yourself a bargain, where you’ll only have to pay a small fraction of their wages. Unmissable deals. Spread the word.

Stockport County.
Luke Armstrong always seemed a decent goalscorer at Harrogate and Hartlepool but his overall game wasn't great. I presume he isn't getting the goalscoring chances at Carlisle since he joined?

Definitely seems like a bullet dodged from us, having Wrexham turn his head and the drama that followed there so we got Ellis Harrison instead.
