2 signings for us so far. Ryan Schofield (GK) and Callum Cooke (AM) in positions that we needed some cover so that's good.

Derek has said we've got 2 more loans potentially to come in, one has to be a striker or or else we're buggered.
Cooke was never the fittest with us, 6 months out the game and had one good display in 4 in the NL so I wouldn't be pinning much hope on him.

Unless Knight-Lebel is going back to Bristol City, and I've seen nothing to suggest the situation has changed since Liam Manning said last week he wasn't being recalled, this would be a very odd move indeed.
JKL's recall period ends on Monday and I don't think they're going to recall him.

I think Connor O'Riordan is coming back on loan from Blackburn. He was fantastic when he was our player but is year at Blackburn has involved 6 months of not playing and then a disastrous loan at Cambridge. As good as he is, I'm not sure we need him, and I don't know if he'll be first choice, but I think Blackburn are very keen on him returning to us so I doubt we're contributing much to his wages.

The recall point has also passed for Filip Marschall and Max Conway, so both will be with us for the season, which is excellent news as they've both been superb.

Lack of depth cost us dear last season and he's an upgrade on Connolly who we probably won't see again until at least mid-March. I'm all for it and he'll be a threat for us from set pieces too. And if we were to go up you'd have to assume we'd probably sign him on loan again. I'm not a fan of signing ex players usually but this one is a no brainer.

Club are also in talks with an unnamed League One holding midfielder out of contract in May. God knows who that'd be but thats our #1 priority position to strengthen this window as Thomas is likely out until 2026. Losing Joe White and replacing him with powderpuff Josh Austerfield was a big factor in our decline last season so we need a ball winning midfielder to give us the depth and quality we need to sustain a promotion push.

Said it before, if Cooke was as good as he thinks he is he'd be a quality player, he just isn't, reality is he's fat, slow and lazy, he occasionally plays a killer ball or knocks in a freekick but he'll do your head in.

Cooke was excellent when we had him on loan from Middlesbrough and I think we were all disappointed that he didn't sign for us when he moved on from Boro. It's still a surprise that his career has only really gone downhill since.

You sure about Conor Thomas? All the indications are that his knee injury isn't as serious as first thought. Lunt said today he's having the brace off his knee, which to me doesn't suggest he's out for another 12 months.

I think he was probably exaggerating for effect.

The other side supposedly interested in are our owners’ other club in Denmark. Hope we get involved, who doesn’t want a random man from the Faroe Islands.
Oh is that Viborg? Didn't realise they owned them as well. Had heard they were also interested. He seems to suggest that there's a Norwegian club in for him too.

How has Conor been at Crewe? I was gutted when we let him go and it took a long time for us to replace him.

His injury record was getting worse though so it made sense at the time.

He's a funny one, he was mostly fairly rubbish in his first season (except for a few games where he played as an emergency centre back) and I think most Alex fans would have happily got rid at the end of last season. I think he was quietly excellent last year though, when he's got good attacking players ahead of him, you really see what he can do. He's one of those players where you really notice his absence when he's not there. Unfortunately, he misses a lot of games through injury though, he was just about to return from injury the other week when he picked up another injury in training.

For a loanee looking for an experience, it’s a no brainer if choice between Bradford or the sunken ship.

Well if you're so sure of us going down then why don't you just hide away somewhere like you did last season?

Because I want to see some positive signs ahead of our National League campaign. I want to see at least some hints of the losing culture starting to be wiped out from the team to show that we can actually make a go of it in the league below next season. Something we saw nothing of in the second half of last season, hence the hangover.

David Adjiboye on loan until seasons end from Peterborough. Can't be any worse than what we got now.
We may have cocked up here.
He's played for both Peterborough and York this season, and I think FIFA rules are that while you can sign/register for 3 clubs you can only play for 2.

I don't think playing for a National League club counts as part of the 3 club rule. I could be wrong.

scroll down for the 3&2 rule

The 3&2 rule and loan registration limits

The 3&2 rule remains unchanged, allowing players to be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season, but they can only play official matches for two clubs. A player moving between two clubs with overlapping seasons (summer/autumn vs winter/spring) can play for a third club in the same season if they've fulfilled their contractual obligations to their previous clubs and followed the rules about registration periods and contract lengths. For example, a player may have played the first half of this season for Club A in England, then move to Club B in Italy during this January transfer window. They may then be allowed to move and play for Club C in Brazil in July as their season only starts in March 2025.

From FIFA
III. REGISTRATION OF PLAYERS

Article 5 - Registration
3. Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this
period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs. As an exception to
this rule, a player moving between two clubs belonging to associations with overlapping
seasons (i.e. start of the season in summer/autumn as opposed to winter/spring) may be
eligible to play in official matches for a third club during the relevant season, provided he
has fully complied with his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs. Equally, the
provisions relating to the registration periods (article 6) as well as to the minimum length of
a contract (article 18 paragraph 2) must be respected.

He hasn't had 1 minute of playing time for posh this season so he is clear to play for another team.

Where are you getting that from? Fotmob and Transfermrkt have got him down as playing quite a bit for Posh?

Like Stocky says though I'm pretty sure you can play for two EFL clubs and a NL club, as when we were at that level I seem to remember there used to be players semi-regularly dropping down for second halves of seasons that were probably too good for that level as they couldn't play for another EFL club. I think it has something to do with whether they're loan deals or not? However, I could be wrong here, so please don't trust what I'm saying!

Apparently we have been informed by Peterborough that he went out on loan to York before he could play in an official game for them, just what we are hearing here! weather it is true or not i dont know, but i don't think both clubs and the player would drop a bollock that big.
