Tom Carroll released by MK Dons, I would be interested in him as a little side dish until the end of the season

If Mike Williamson hadn’t just been sacked I’d be convinced Carroll would be coming here.

Conor Grant now gone from Vale. Agreed terms to terminate his contract early. Been increasingly clear his time was up as not even close to making matchday squads for a while. Remember being pretty excited when he signed as he did well at Plymouth but for any number of reasons just not replicated it here.

Yeah on paper the best signing in Summer 2023 it seemed, Argyle fans complimentary about him and had just won L1 but just never worked out, had some really poor games for us and some lengthy injuries as well so just never really got going.

Decent at Harrogate this season but other than that barely had a look in, possibly Cheltenham away his last appearance.

Probably end up in non league and likely another big wage off the bill.

If you're prepared to pay a shockingly high wage for a 34 year old, then Matty Taylor still has goals in him.

Scored 7 in 13 in League 1 for us last season, but our style of play simply doesn't suit him this year because we're playing 1 up front.
We have no style of play so he doesn't need to be adaptable.

Interesting move bringing in a centre mid just when we finally get all our first choice ones back fit. Never heard of him but am sure he'll tear this league apart etc.

Moore says in the statement he wont go right into it but one for the run in pretty much which is a strange statement! Signed to train with us!

Can only guess it's an elongated trial to maybe sign him in the summer. Can't even play tomorrow night against Wrexham as he's cuptied from when we played Wolvo U21's.

No incomings for us on deadline day which I’m not too fussed about tbh. The main thing was keeping hold of Dobra and that’s what we’ve done!

Connor Grant is a prime example of why it doesn't always work out when you go for an experienced signing. He came with a great pedigree and promise but I genuinely can't see any redeeming qualities....he's just steady. Not blessed with any pace, not particularly strong, supposedly had a wand of a left foot but we never saw it. Also supposedly had a decent shot on him, but again we never saw it. I thought we'd pulled off a real coup when we signed him.

Isn't it strange that we literally saw nothing that Plymouth fans had seen? Some of them were disappointed to have released him after he helped them to promotion from league 1. It always baffles me how some players look brilliant for certain clubs but not for others.

Seemed a decent enough professional, and whether the serious injury he had has finished him as a player, I don't know. But he's not good enough anymore for league football.

About what expected today with more outgoing than incoming.

Maybe once our EFL Trophy campaign is over might see Jack Shorrock go out on loan to a National League club. Personally would just give Yeovil first refusal as they seem like a club we can trust to treat them well based on what they’ve done with James Plant.

Perhaps the one area we could have done with back up is in the striker department. Our back up after the 2 main men is 2 young inexperienced lads. Hackford has improved since he came to us but you wouldn't want him as one of your main strikers for a promotion run in. Perhaps the lad from Palace looks the part in training and Moore has enough confidence in him. Stockley and Tolaj's fitness seems imperative to our chances.

Our business appears to be done. A promising youngster from Ipswich and a couple of free agents who can do a job. No-one leaving which is a bonus. Nothing spectacular although given our lack of funds it's not surprising.

What's quite noticeable is that very few teams are buying journeymen or big ticket signings. Most appear to be signing Premier league reserve talent or educated punts. It seems like too many teams have had their fingers burnt (I'm looking at you Ryan Loft!)

Ellis Harrison in on loan, last minute.

Needed an experienced head up front for the run in, so I'm happy with that.

MK are having an absolutely deranged deadline day, fair play. Orsi is a decent player to be fair.
