MK are having an absolutely deranged deadline day, fair play. Orsi is a decent player to be fair.
Just shows how bad our summer turned out to be really.

Most of this windows signings have been much needed, but SL has to get us going considering most of them are his mates from last year.

Two Man Utd kids on loan Louis Jackson central defender, Sam Mather left-winger. Occasionally you get lucky with youngsters, can only hope. However with Rovers’ dismal scoring record, failing to bring in any kind of forward, even an untried youngster, probably seals our fate.

Orsi you should know about Dippy. Short goal hanger who was on fire for Crawley last season and also added to his game by working really hard across the front line.

Trueman we've had on loan at Crawley this season. Short but good keeper.

How many ex Crawley players have you got?

With Pyke leaving us for Eastleigh, we are nearing closure on the worst bit of business in our summer of plenty after the cup run; letting Orsi leave and signing the Dads Army strike force of Pyke and Wilson. Orsi's performance up front on his own in the 3-0 win over Luton was outstanding.

Danilo Orsi, Liam Kelly, Jay Williams, Connal Trueman, Laurence Maguire. Only 5 players and the manager, which is not enough yet.

In other news, we’ve had our goalkeeper Tom McGill recalled by Brighton (hence Mr Trueman on a permanent) and also terminated the contracts of Joe Pritchard, Tom Carroll and Matt Dennis.

They could turn out to be great but pretty much all the youngsters we've signed (apart from Arblaster who's just unbelievable) are either very inconsistent or just not ready for men's football. You'd think in your position, you'd sign a bit of experience and knowhow. Connor Grant could be an option for you...he's a scouser who came highly rated from Plymouth. He's just been crap here but perhaps a change of scenery will do him good. Three seasons ago , we went to Tranmere who I think were above us in the table at the time and got a draw. They looked a pretty strong side. What on earth has happened since? Seems like the powers that be have resigned themselves to relegation.

We have more Crawley players that played in the play offs last season than MK players now I believe… that’s how many

Definitely got more than us.

We have two starters and one from the bench...which is why we will be relegated.

That's who we'd signed before Harrison so I'm pleased with him bit of experience was needed.MK fans seem upset to see him go better than Hogan seems to be there opinion of him.

Andy Smith on loan from Hull, any good Grimbo fans?
I'd say League 2 is his level.

He played for us in the second half of last season and had a great debut at Derby, but after that every time he played he looked absolutely terrified to be on the pitch. He never did anything overly bad, but at times he looked way out of his depth.

We have 16 under contract for next season and expect 2 or 3 more will be offered new deals - Denver Hume will leave in the summer i suspect to a league 1 club unless the minor miracle happens and we go up .

We have the 2 foreign spaces filled , I'm interested to how that works is it 2 per season or you are only allowed 2 in your squad at 1 time ? I'm not sure on the ins and outs of it but if you are allowed to sign more I expect we will continue our journey in the Scandanavian market in the summer which is interesting I suppose . The Icelandic lad has had a relatively decent first season even if he doesn't look that much above league 2 apart from technically although when he does show the bits of quality he invariably gets taken out by stronger league 2 regulars .

I’m happy about Grimsby’s limited January transfer dealings. Two promising ‘overseas’ signings and one deadwood departure.
It is easy for fans to get excited about 5/6/7 new players but in reality the majority take time to settle, numerous cases of a plethora of signings having a negative effect in the short term.

Agree our fans love him because he helped us get promoted out of NL but in league 2 on loan the following season he was good but not a standout . Fox is a good signing for Harrogate though IF they can keep him fit , he's a bit like Curtis Thompson playing a league lower than he should be imo because he just doesn't play enough if you had those two CM fit for a season at league 2 you would be top 3 i reckon but unfortunately they have consistent injury issues .

There were rumours that MK Dons had a bid turned down for Ethon Archer and we also turned down bids for Tom King from QPR. Apparently, there had been interest in a couple of other players, but we made it clear we weren't going to sell. As such, other than losing Joel Colwill, I'm quite happy with our January business:

Outgoings:
Levi Laing - Recalled by West Ham
Joel Colwill - Recalled by Cardiff
Lewis Payne - Recalled by Southampton
Lewis Shipley - Sent back to Norwich
Manni Norkett - Sent back to Nottingham Forest
Tom Pett - Loan to Oldham
Harrison Sohna - Loan to Wealdstone
Owen Evans - Loan to Barnet

Incomings:
Tommy Backwell - initially on loan, made permanent on deadline day
Val Adedokun - Loan from Brentford
Ashley Hay - Loan from Brentford
Timothee Dieng - Loan from Gillingham
Ethan Williams - Loan from Man Utd
Darragh Power - Permanent from Waterford

Just need Wilson gone now and i would be very happy with it tbh .

It will be funny come summer when we are signing 4 or 5 rather than the 10 to 15 we have regularly done some fans will be dejected by the lack of activity i reckon

He probably had one of the highest goals turned to points figures in 23/24 which is where a lot of the good will comes from. That's slowed down a bit this season and I can't say I'm gutted about him leaving and Orsi coming in.

But he's certainly one of the only players that has left us this window that I wouldn't have minded keeping around the squad and even with Harrison I can see why we've let him go if he wants more game time/a new challenge.

Fairly content with our window, trimmed the squad which was needed, added good balance with Headley as a powerful left wing back, filtered down the loans, bringing in Walters adds good competition when he is back up to speed and Umolu looks a unit but need to see more than 10 minutes to judge that one yet.

Biggest boost this January is the injury crisis clearing up and long term returnees such as Byers, Clark and John being as good as new signings too.

I’m genuinely surprised at the number of players moving within Div 2. My first closely watched Div 2 transfer window, but so many players moving within the same division. I absolutely get the need for Division 2 experience and knowledge within a squad, but from a lot of comments on here it looks like players struggling or viewed as “not up to it” have simply moved elsewhere within the Division!

Must be a lot of money available to a lot of teams to bring in “journeyman” players in the hope they’re a bit better than what they’ve already got or the ones they let go.

Definition of madness “Doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting a different outcome”.

Now looking forward to the summer merry-go-round . . . . .

It will be interesting to see how you do second season around as it always seems more difficult second time round . Enjoyed Saturday proper old school ground my sort of thing rather than the new builds - That bar is brilliant in the home end something we should aspire to ; one of the best I have been in, in lower league i reckon - must have cost abit to put that together?

Got another striker over the line in Ged Garner, so it looks like we're going more direct. It worked on Saturday so why not?

Strange that Barrow have let him go and I wasn't right impressed with Garner when he was here under Ged Brannan last season, I was expecting someone else to come in.

Garner did score a couple but was quite lazy and lethargic most of the time. No doubt Derek will make him run.

Us and Tranmere being linked with Anthony Forde who has just left Wrexham.
Son of Cod - there’s a few good/bad signings for you to get through, here.
If I get chance, I'll do a full update.

Yep, very encouraging to not have panic bought and so refreshing to not really be in any dire need for anyone either. The squad is by no means perfect or even quite ready to mount a challenge but it will do for now and if we've saved a few pennies for the summer then that's even better.

Yep excellent, I was hoping we might get him back when I heard Hull wanted him out on loan again.
We were in for him by all accounts mate. Classic Gillingham though, get on the L2 forums and see who everyone is linked with then send out the taxis and double what they're being offered. Still, that one is a certified GOOD SIGNING.

Loan of Smith would have been nice but really of limited value for the remainder of this season given he hasn't played much recently and behind a striker in priority. A permanent would be altogether different and a great addition and I wonder if we offered on that basis.

I initially thought us being interested in a Tony Forde was a spoof. We don't desperately need him now, far from it, but on the basis of building for next season his apparent versatility would make him a good acquisition.

Looks like Brandon Horton is going to Gateshead. I think they'll like him there in a back 5 he's a decent enough player certainly at that level. Think we'll see a few more out over the coming days

It's great isn't it? It has the vibe of a town centre bar and puts our 1970s working men's club to shame. Shame about the rest of the ground...it reminded me of a leisure centre near to where I live. I believe they are looking to replace the knackered old terrace down the side. The place has fairly quick and regular trains to central London. I'd definitely go again.

I like Horton, he's done a decent job for us but the squad is evolving and we must do better. Hope he gets on well at Gateshead.
