I'd be stunned if we have but if this bloke is usually accurate, who knows.

There is an argument to be had that we could do with cover there for sure but I'd have thought we'd be looking at another Vassell type, i.e. Fairly young with some decent physical attributes that we could polish a bit from lower down the pyramid than someone like Akinde.

Apparently Nathan Jones has just discussed Akinde in his pre-match press conference and said that he's a fan but not likely to make a move for him this window.

If there was a bid of around £750k for Akinde I would take it now, as long as some of those funds were invested back into the team. After August there is only three more windows and his value will depreciate significantly to the point where we'll get very little in Jan 19.

There's no way we'd bid even half of that kind of fee even after the Vassell money coming in, one of several reasons why that rumour makes zero sense to me.

Weird stuff regarding Akinde. The article says we have a 3 man shortlist for every position on who we would be interested, is realistic and would improve the squad and Akinde is on that. He also says that there is no dialogue between us and Barnet.

Also says there is a good chance of making a significant addition before the window closes which would see someone leave. You'd think that wouldn't be Akinde as, given Cornick, Collins and Lee just joined it would mean Hylton. Or McQuiod I suppose. More likely to be a CB.

Luke Berry hands in a transfer request, omitted from Saturday's squad, so he's off somewhere.

No Luton, calm down.

They can have him for double what anyone else bids.... ;-)

Half expected to be honest. Just hope we get 7 figures for him.

Busy day for unrealistic rumoured signings on twitter today, Geoff Peters claiming we've bid £250k + add-ons for Plymouth's Sonny Bradley now.

IMO Jones shouldn't be saying that in a press conference. We didn't like it with Vassell.

Both NJ and Gary Sweet have been outright lying recently in regards to who we are and aren't interested in so I suppose Akinde is possible. Would be very surprised though and not really too bothered by this one, we don't need him.

Bradley on the other hand would be brilliant and much needed. Not sure who would leave, Mullins maybe? Or perhaps Gambin with Rea moving into midfield to make space at CB. Again unlikely as in fairly sure he was a key player for Plymouth last year.

Berry won't happen. Will go to a higher level and would be too much money. What was the fee Hibernian had accepted and was that due to a clause? I think I'm right in thinking his best position is number 10 and I scant seen him playing ahead of Shinniesta.

I believe that Hibs bid £250k for him, maybe there's a release clause in his contract?

That seems to be the rumour, you'd assume it's a higher level release clause. That being said you'd expect a league one club at least would be happy to spend that amount on him, transfer request or not

David Worrall signs on a 2 year deal, and should fill that gaping hole in our midfield. Its a good signing for us.

FFS. There wasn't anything on our mb when I logged on around noon, so you're the bearer of bad news in this case Tom. But at least I was actually expecting such a thing - and so did loads of my fellow U's fans - so at least it doesn't come across like a bolt out of the blue.

FWIW, I told my mates that he'll ask for a transfer and then he'll sign for Luton. So far I got the first bit right but I'm hoping I'm wrong on the Luton thing. Not 'cos it's Luton or anything, just that he should aim higher than L2 and sign for a decent L1 club at the very least.

Dunno Luton fans, but between Berry and Akinde, I'd say it's Berry who would interest you the most. Not saying Akinde wouldn't be a great signing (for any club at this level and possibly the one above) but looking at your first team squad right now I'd say you're more in need of a CAM than a striker.

We have just announced the signing of defender Mark Roberts, from Cambridge United, on a one year contract. I have probably seen him play several times already, given the different clubs he has played for in his career, but if he looks anything like his picture on Wikipedia I can't honestly remember.

In this hypothetical world I would prefer Berry over Akinde too, we dont need a high calibre striker sitting on the bench really and if whenever I have seen Akinde play against us he hasnt played very well either, so thats clouding my view too.

Really though we dont NEED either, if we have money burning a hole in our pockets id rather see another centre half or a decent defensive midfielder who we can rotate McCormack with.

I'm not sure we need either to be honest. We have Andrew Shinnie who has been bloody brilliant with Jordan Cook on the bench. Jordan Cook is no great shakes but you wouldn't have Shinnie or Berry on the bench. Same with Collins, Hylton and Akinde really. Fairly sure Barnsley wasted Berry by playing him out of position so would be no point getting him in to play further back. Also he'd cost ALL THE MONEY.

No way we'd spend 750k on someone to come off the bench everytime we get a penalty...

We are after an attacking midfielder. Evans says he went to watch him Tuesday night. My guess is Ben Fox from Burton Albion.

Mansfields wage bill must be horrific. And team morale can easily dip with the amount of players on the books if you dont start shipping some out soon. Evans has always had this 'sign bloody everyone' approach.

Interesting that Sonny Bradley is left footed. As NJ likes a balanced back 4, Sheehans place is a bit wobbly... Good game for him last week and awesome at set pieces but I wouldnt like to move forward past this level with him.
