Good noise from Morecambe last night, they look a bad team though.

Oswell is a handful physically and Leitch-Smith looks like he has some ability but other than that I fear for them this season.

Wasn’t a bad game against Blackburn, we surprisingly looked pretty good going forward but unsurprisingly really weak defensively. Blackburn, though, were simply a much better team - Dack ran the show and Armstrong is a top striker. Dack’s second and Hope’s goal for us were both great finishes. 10 goals conceded in 3 games is very worrying, mind.

Done Bradford on pens.

Best cup competition in the world.

Got Rhys Taylor to largely thank for that. Nice to not concede a goal in 90+ minutes for once, did however concede ~6 seconds after scoring for the 2nd time this season though.

An improved performance compared to Saturday; Napa is a handful and Rose (+Grimes i guess) was less of a liability. Apparently Lloyd injured himself on the bench on Saturday, which is unfortunate. Hope Vincenti is fit as Wilson is not so useful out wide.

Great game last night. Lovely football throughout and our 6th goal must have had 30+ passes in the build up. Really pleased to see Rose back in and on the scoresheet aswell. Onwards and upwards

Gerrard is a lot further from being fit than I'd expected. He looks pretty good on the ball but at his current fitness level he'll struggle to get on the ball. Hopefully though Blackburn just exposed his lack of fitness more than a league two team would.

We played some really nice football against Walsall last night, but looked shaky defensively. Ritchie Sutton seemingly having a broken leg and Zoom Bakayogo limping off injured after 30 minutes could really damage our prospects of doing anything this season.

It was a bit strange to be making 7 changes against higher league opposition but happy to trust the managers judgement.

You know those games, we’ve all had them, where you shake your head in disbelief on how you didn’t win. Well, last night it was that x 10. FGR couldn’t have complained if we’d won 8-0. They were dreadful yet our now usual defensive calamity happened, gave them their only shot on target and that’s that.

Keep thinking we can’t keep missing hatful of chances allied with schoolboy defensive howlers - yet we manage it quite easily. We have a fantastic midfield, powder puff forward line and fuckwit defenders. Surely it shouldn’t be too difficult to recruit a couple of players to rectify it.

I’m not holding my breath

Reminds me of the game we had vs Solihull in 2017. Won 9-0 but should have been 25.

Maybe not against the lesser Forest, but Saturday will be a different kettle of fish mucka. :bdick:
It might well be as we seem to not turn up against non-league opposition!!!!

We did sound dire first half, lucky that speculative punt from halfway hit the post as probably wouldn't have come back. Cooper had made eight chages to give squad players minutes but none of them bar scorer Campbell made much of a case. Laird for example sounded well off the pace. Once we had the goal think Cooper made the right changes to see it out and we weren't under the cosh in the same way when you might expect you lot to be pushing on.

From reports, after you scored that was basically game over and we faded and you saw the game out fairly comfortably. That's football I suppose, you don't take your chances when you dominate you'll get punished, and we did!

Last night was pretty much perfect for Mansfield, 6-1 including a Walker hat-trick and Danny Rose scoring on his return plus the opposite manager calling our sixth goal one of the best he’s ever seen.

So Carlisle fans - how was Anthony Gerrard?

Unfit, really unfit. Only lasted til half time, by then we were 4-1 down.

I'm not going to judge him too much on that, because with the shite around him in our back 4, against Blackburn's front line of Dack, Palmer and Armstrong, it was a tough tough game to come into having had no preseason matches.

Ask me again after he's played 2 or 3 full games against League 2 teams.

About as good as one of our group which went down brilliantly.

Barrow equalised to make it 1-1 after 20 odd minutes - he was like "oh god, you just know Barrow will win now"

We went on to win 8-1. God bless the conference (providing you're not in it!)

Bizarrely I was guilty of the same vs Barrow. We went 1-0 down in the FA Trophy playing our reserves and said “well that’s that” we won 5–1. Barrow are especially tinpot though.

Always found Barrow a hard place to go to - one of those places which was so fabulously crap it actually became ok. Our first ever conference loss was there - and they did the same to Chesterfield last night

But we beat Supermarine so not sure I understand your logic cauliflower brain.

Cauliflower is a good source of choline, a B vitamin known for its role in brain development. Some studies show that it may boost cognitive function and improve learning and memory.

So "cauliflower brain" is actually a compliment, so cheers for that mate.

Not a problem. Everyday is a school day isn't it :)

That said, if your brain was replaced by a/some cauliflower, I doubt that would be quite as successful.

Possibly Chris might have got it slightly wrong. Basing a league table of these three teams against each other:

FGR - 4 pts
Swindon - 3 pts
Swindon Supermarine - 1 pt.

This is 2nd year running that FGR have dumped Swindon out of a cup competition BUT have yet to win a League match against their local rival.

Seems all square at the moment. :)

We lost twice to Barrow, one of the very few, if not the only side to do the double over us under DC?

I remember the Barrow players getting out their cars and having a punch up with our fans once after a game on the road behind the home end. So non league

I reckon it's about time the FL takes a stand with those clubs that do not take this cup seriously and start to impose fines/deduct points. I know some clubs prefer to go out in the first round, but why do they have to make it so bleedin' obvious? Off the top of my head I can think of five clubs that did exactly that last night - Port Vale, the U's, Accy, Grimsby and Swindon.

By all means, do not attempt to win the match if that's what you want but at least make it slightly less obvious eh?

What cup competition did you knock us out of last season?
