Surprisingly few changes for Wolves and the usual dire performance against a team which couldn't even fill their subs bench.
On Saturday, Newport were beaten 3-0 by Cambridge United. Perhaps we should be watching videos to see how we could have scored against them.
Credit to Newport County and hope they do OK this season.

And a goal for Semedo.

Was a strange old night in the league cup, indeed.

A marauding run from midfield to get on the end of a cross no less......

Also a nice stat for Wolves tonight in having the youngest ever starting XI in a Capital One Cup game at an average age of 21 years and 9 months. The oldest player being Scott Golbourne at 27.

Speaks volumes on the way our academy has grown in recent years and the direction the club is going in, long may it continue.
There's something great about having a young team. Obviously we had one back around our Champions League days and again now. After Neil Warnock playing a midfield of Diouf, Paul Green, David Norris and Michael Brown, it is a breath of fresh air to have a genuine starting 11 with an average age of 23.

After seeing the amount of Championship sides bomb out of this cup last night I hope we take things a bit more seriously. Obviously this cup isn't a priority but it can still bring a potential trip to Old Trafford or Anfield and become a bit of a money spinner.

No JPT or the first 2 rounds of the FA Cup this season so can't really use the distraction excuse.

OUT: Blackburn, Brentford , Huddersfield, Bristol City, Nottingham Forest, Burnley.

Awful result for us, but on the balance of play it seems we should have gone through... we were just very wasteful whereas Luton were clinical. Still embarrassing though.

Good 'ode Jack Marriot, product of the Town academy.

Bolton too.

Beaten by Burton who rested players and had one of the most abysmal footballers i've ever seen (John Mousinho) at centre back.

Haven't seen any highlights, the Bolton fan I work with was raving about him over pre-season as well.

Can't stand Neil Lennon so hope they have a terrible season.

We scored 3 :2thumb:

7 changes. It was what is known as a professional job. Good to see two of our strikers score goals. No Austin or Fer anywhere near the team.

9 changes including a full debut for our 19 year old academy keeper.

Blew them away, Lopez is utter class, Sougou looks quicker than Bolt and the lad Joao impressed me immensely.

The lad up front was awesome, our defence couldn't cope with him (one of them was a 17 year old lad making his full debut mind). You played some great football, especially in the first half.

You obviously took your foot off the gas second half & I thought we came more into the game & created some decent chances. Probably didn't deserve to lose 4-1, but still that first half performance deserved to win the game on its own.

Had a good night. First time at Hillsborough, loved it. Good old fashioned English football ground.

Thanks for the comments mate, I know the away end is a bit fucked but I love Hillsborough, Joao is just 21 but by christ he's fast and strong, he can only improve for us i believe too.

Rotherham only beat us 1-0 against our weakened second string team.

Fuck knows what this team is, three full backs and three central midfielders on the pitch.

At a guess, i think we will line up as:

Pickford
Vermijl, Huntington, Wright, Woods
Keane, Browne, Kilkenny, Brownhill, Cunningham
Hugill

James, Davies, Humphrey, Welsh, Johnson, Reid, Garner

1-0 up, penalty after 5 minutes, scored by Hugill after he charged down the keeper and forced him into a fuck up.

2-1 half time.

Started the game on fire but dropped off, let them knock it about a bit and they score from nothing.

Could do with an early goal in the second half.

Lol Clement the cone collector looks a bit lost doesn't he.

This is Fratton Park mate. Portsmouth. Not the Bernabeu and there is no Ancellotti to make the big calls next to you.

;)

He looked like a fantastic prospect last night, quickly becoming a fan's favourite.
Fantastic player when on form, had an amazing first spell with us but for whatever reason struggled later on. Always works his socks off and a real nice bloke too. Wish him well, hope he continues to shine for you.
