Cracking result for us, we made a few changes whilst Sheff Utd named an unchanged team, 3 goals in 2 games for Lowe as well, and some say he's past it!

Holy mother, what a cup tie.

We started pretty well but I think it's fair to say for much of the last 3/4 of the original 90 minutes there was only one team in it, Wednesday should have put us away and if anything were a bit complacent in not doing so. A bit of absolute magic from Mingoia (I knew he was good but I didn't realise he was quite this good), and they looked shell shocked, and Derry did the right thing by coming out on the offensive in extra time where we were absolutely brilliant, and in the course of that 30 minutes alone deserved the late winner, another great take and finish by Berry.

Excellent night, Chelsea away in round 2 would be good.

Including our stupid manager David Flitcroft it seems, despite him scoring a Hattrick on the final day of last season.

I'm totally feckin amazed, they looked like a decent pub side at Blundell Park on Saturday...

It's good to see that they haven't abandoned the gung-ho philosophy

Is it safe to come out yet?:hypo:

With over 90% of my fellow EFL2 fans predicting us to go down before a goal is kicked then the mauling the team have taken from the Grimsby fans anyone would think there isn't another 45 games to go before the fat lady completes her final note. Now i'm not saying it won't happen but my money is on us at least making a decent fist of this League season. It won't be pretty in parts but as Rotherham found out last night we can score goals as well as allow the opposition to join in. If and it's a BIG if the Club is sold as is the rumour then a few additions here and there (possibly defence) then we'll surprise a few. In short i don't expect our 10th season as a FL Club to be our last.

To the Grimsby fans writing us off after one game :fing: enjoy your victory and we'll hopefully see you in similar numbers to last nights fabulous travelling supporters cos we could do with the money and you are such a big club:P1:

Oh and btw....if anyone sees SERNWA on their travels around the boards i'd like to hear his thoughts on the match last night:fish:

I hear that due to work going on at Anfield, the tie will be switched to the away team's ground should Liverpool be drawn at home.

Liverpool will then have to pay compensation to the away team equivalent to what they could have earned had the tie been played at Anfield (I'm sure whoever get them will be on the phone to us to ask us what we got last season).

Does this mean though that if Liverpool are drawn at home to Luton then Luton will have to pay Liverpool compensation?

Lost 2-1 at Wolves. What I listened too isn't backed up by the stats on the BBC's report but people at the game seem to think we did well.
Another defender sent off in the last minute. Drummy (manager) says he thought the first yellow, in the first minute, was harsh but the second yellow was fair. We must be bottom of the fair play league and we don't look like a dirty side.

We lost 3-1 at home to Blackburn. We weren't bad and probably matched them for 50-60 minutes. Although they weren't exactly going for it.

They took the lead in the first half and then we equalised after half time but they scored 2 headers in 2 minutes. One from a corner and one Shearer should of really dealt with.

We played a weakened side anyway which didn't include any strikers!

Our fans losing their shit over the result yesterday. Who cares about the League Cup? Talking of boycotts and all sorts - 2 games into the season. Fucking hell its like we have clones of Ravenbish supporting us.

Mingoia is class btw. Great signing Cambridge - this seasons Kemar Roofe?

Totally outplayed Charlton and could have scored more. Chelsea/Liverpool/Everton in the next round would be lovely.

Whilst we are not very good, 'totally outplayed' is bit of an exaggeration isn't it?

Barnet more than most clubs certainly should. Some of the lowest revenue streams in the entire EFL, but you're guffawing at other supporters for taking it seriously? A game at Anfield or the Emirates, with an even share of the gate receipts, pretty much sets you up financially for the rest of the season.

I believe Liverpool and Everton both have unofficial policies of handing their share of gate receipts over to lower league cup opponents too, so it could be a potentially huge windfall.

What a smelly goal for Luton to concede.

Luton have grown stronger since they conceded, deserved their goal. They did get a bit of luck early on with Villa smashing the post and bar inside 20 minutes, but 1-1 is a fair score at half time.

Yeah we looked miles of them first 25 mins or so but grew from there. As soon as we scored they seemed to collapse psychologically, after the second they were all over the place and we could easily have had 5 or 6.

Fantastic start to the season although I have to say both games have suited us down to the ground with teams trying to attack us and leaving huge gaps at the back for Marriott and Hylton to exploit. The biggest test will be how we fare against a team who sits deep against us.

What a great night though!

YES! YES! YES!

It was always going to happen. As soon as Villa conceded, they shit themselves and they're psychologically gone. Their attitude in the second half was nothing short of diabolical.

The first 20 minutes of the second half was absolutely frightening. May well be the best spell of play we've had, in terms of technical quality since we got relegated from League 1 in 2008 (at least). Compare this team v Still's men last season - its the complete polar opposite.

Good few teams in the hat for Round 2

Luton
Accrington
Yeovil
Crewe
Blackpool
Cambridge
Carlisle
Cheltenham
Exeter
Stevenage
Morecambe

All of whom beat higher division opposition since there were no all-League-Two ties

Shoddy, there's seeding in round 1 of the league cup so there could never be any all league 2 ties. I understand that's the case for round 2 too, so shouldn't be any all league 2 ties again.

Basically we all want Liverpool away.

Would rather a proper away game. Newcastle perhaps
