584 of us at Oldham. Unsurprisingly a lot of our fans didn't fancy braving the cold to see a probable 9th defeat in a row.

Good job I'm a glutton for punishment and saw us win :ds:

Christ, 8 defeats in a row or not, that's a lot less than I thought there would be.

It is horrendous even with that run of defeats, all told it's probably our worst away following for many years. I couldn't care less tonight though :D

We won't take many to Bradford Tuesday despite how well we are doing, we just don't travel well midweek.

Should be a 1000 minimum when your top especially since you havent finished in the top 6 for 100 years

It'll be about 600-700. Won't lose any sleep. We'll take some big followings soon that do that reflect our position. This one won't. So what.

You would think so, but it won't be. 750 maybe.

Haven't travelled away well this season at all.

To be fair I would have thought our home crowds would have been bigger, especially today. Still seems as if some people are expecting us to fall away at any time. I am hoping that if we are in this position in January our crowds home and away will be much higher.

In comparison to previous years, considering we are in the position we are in, we should be travelling better.

If your still there in jan then every man and his dog will want to start going

Eh? You predicted we'd sell 2000 season tickets this season, which was ludicrous even after last season, and now you're disappointed with a 15,000 gate?

Some of the recent away games haven't been the most appealing, regardless of league position. Rochdale midweek, Colchester, Bradford midweek. As we get into Christmas and the new year, the followings will build. If we average less than 1600 come the end of the season I'll be surprised.

Last season is a million miles from where we are at now.

I always said that if we were to be serious challengers we would get big crowds, but 15,000 is hardly big for us. I think we averaged 15,500 in the Championship the year we went down and 17,000 the year before that. Yes, we are in League One. Yes, we are playing Gillingham. Yes, some are still against SISU, but I just expect a few more.

I bet a lot of people on here expected us to have a bigger crowd than 15,000 today. If we don't hit 20,000 in a few weeks against Oldham when it is £10/£5 a ticket then that would be disappointing.

The reason why it is a tenner is because it is the last weekend before Christmas when traditionally crowds are low everywhere. I doubt we'll hit 20K for that regardless of the price offer. Boxing Day should be a big gate though (assuming we don't go on a bad run before then).

Getting to 20K for a league game is a big ask when you only have 6000 ST holders.

Hope so, but I thought that would be the case right now!

It's not about wanting to go. I want to go on Tuesday, and I am trying to arrange a meeting in Yorkshire so that I don't have to take a half day off work or pull a sickie. I probably won't be able to make it. Midweek is a bitch. Won't judge anyone on their followings to midweek away games in division 3.

I am not sure the season ticket number makes too much difference as a lot of people didn't buy one due to the poor season last year.

Wasps look as if they will be getting about 20,000 tomorrow which frustrates me when their tickets are a lot higher priced than ours.

Yeah, definitely. I'm not criticising anyone for not going Tuesday. I will probably be missing it as I am living down in Surrey now.

The season ticket numbers make all the difference. If you look at the ST numbers for clubs in this division and then look at their average gates, most only add 2000-3000 (max) to season ticket holders each game. You're suggesting we should add 14,000 because we're having a good season. The reason why we averaged 16K even in a shit Championship season was simply because we had more ST holders and people were already committed and counted on the gate even if they didn't turn up.

As for Wasps, couldn't give a toss. What are they averaging in the league this season, 10,500? For top-flight Rugby that pulls-in egg-chasing bores from across the region that isn't all that great (I've been told only about 15% of Wasps season ticket holders are from Coventry). Tomorrow is a one-off game. I know people from Doncaster travelling down to watch the game and they have no affinity to Wasps or Coventry. Completely different mind-set Rugby supporters.

Our following was wank today and it will be even shitter next week at barnsley. Down to 11th now another season in this league beckons we are actually the 4th longest servers in this league, that has really depressed me.

They make a difference but not all the difference. We sold 5k-6k season tickets before the season started and not one person expected us to be where we are right now. Therefore a lot more people are going to pay outside of season tickets.
I am happy we are getting crowds significantly bigger than last season, but still think we should be getting slightly bigger. If you look at it, today was one of the biggest games in years.

I wouldn't be too critical, there are many factors as to why you didn't take any more.

Had you nailed-on to go up this season, just felt it was time you stopped fucking about and got yourselves out of this league. Amazing how you have managed to maintain your attendances. If anything they seem to be going up!

So did i but that was probably me just hoping more than owt. There was at least some encouraging signs today in the 2nd half for the 1st time in an away game since august. Yes our attendences are remarkable they are actually getting bigger as you say hard to explain.
