I think we're probably worst for away followings in the whole league. Worse than Crawley.

Yes that is a pretty shocking following for them i know its a fair distance but you would still expect 8/900 with league position in mind

We've travelled pretty well this season but I agree that is quite poor. (I didn't go though so I can't criticise others for not doing so). We always take poor numbers to Scunthorpe for some reason, I think playing them away in the middle of January is just one of those very unappealing fixtures.

our following was pretty shit yesterday too but i suppose with 4000 going to spurs on wednesday then over 2000 for pne next week people decided to bin mk dons off. I dont blame them dont even know why i went lasted less than 10 minutes then pissed off

You went for ten minutes and walked out?

Yep got there after 25 minutes due to train being delayed then left after about 33 minutes i wanted to just stay in boozer in london anyway. Games at 1/3 full stadiums with absolutely no atmosphere from home or away fans and everyone sat down really is not my idea of a good away day hence why i have no idea why i even bothered going in the ground knowing exactly what it would be like

In defence of our support yesterday, shelling out for the West Ham game, the Gills final 2d leg, MK away and potentially a Wembley trip means even us ST holders are spending a good few quid on the football at the mo. For me, right after Xmas, I just can't afford to do any more away games and buy all those tickets without facing the wrath of my Mrs!

I thought particularly in the 2nd half our fans were quite loud. (loud for us anyway). I think because our away end is so big, you need quite a substantial away following for the atmosphere to be good. I know when clubs in the past have brought a lot of people they have usually enjoyed their day at our ground because of the 9k away allocation. (Wolves last season as an example)

Preston are one of the very few teams in this division to be taking over a 1,000 away fans to every ground where more than 1,000 seats are available. We mean no harm to the ground and are there to have a good time and increase the atmosphere
Well - this lasted long..

I think we're expecting 4k+ at your place in a few weeks, should be a good game, and hoping for at least half an atmosphere..

We've had 4 FA Cup games to pay for this month (3 of them away although the MK Dons II game was a cheap day out), so I think a fair few baulked at the £25 cost for Swindon and the likelihood of us getting hammered and decided not to go. Think over 400 ain't that bad in the circumstances.

Very good considering you will be taking 6000 away next week

I hope it's better than Cov. 3800 of us with 3000 of those sat on their arses making no attempt at creating an atmosphere. Pissed me off, could've been so much better

134 Orient at Preston on Friday, quite good considering we was only given 4 weeks notice of the game change. We'd have taken 300 if it was on Saturday.

Where in the stand were you at the cov game? We were trying to keep an atmosphere going throughout by me

Went as far to the back as possible but was asked to move by a few people who didn't seem aware that, at away games, the singers + standers go to the back. You could tell these people had probably never gone to an away game before as they seemed surprised at kick off when the people around them continued to stand. I was sort of on the edge of the other singers, which was mostly to the right of where I was standing.

Still though, it shouldn't be up to 800 trying to create an atmosphere, it should be the full (or at least close to) 3800 contributing. In my opinion if you've made the effort to go there, then you shouldn't sit there in silence. Unfortunately the majority were. It wasn't bad as such, but we could've raised the roof off!

'if you've made the effort to go there, then you shouldn't sit there in silence.'

There shouldn't be any real opinion on this, if people make the effort to travel to away games then they're entitled to do what they want as long as it's not hurling abuse. If that means sitting and watching the game then that's their choice.

Complaining about fans not standing and singing is so childish.

Fair enough lads. I appreciate older fans will often not apply to this, given it is not easy to stand for 90 minutes. I also fully appreciate people who travel long distances to watch City play. At the game I am referring to though there were a hell of a lot of part timers, which made for a worse atmosphere than let's say the 900 of us at Notts County. I just get a bit jealous when I see Oldham with 450 fans at Ashton Gate all standing, all singing for 90 minutes and wonder why we can't do something like that.

Second allocation of tickets for MK Dons sold.

3rd on it's way - nearly 2,000 gone already.

What a absolute crock of shit that is!
I'm an older fan and have definitely made a lot more of a row at games than you young 'uns!
FFS, atmosphere was around waaay before you were even thought of and it WAS a lot better then!
Where's me commode? I can't possibly stand up for 90 minutes!!
There's a coach load of us old bastards coming to MK and (if we can stand up for long enough without needing a nurse) we will make one hell of a row supporting our beloved reds.
Jeez, book me bloody coffin as I'm over 40!

The old uns know what a proper atmosphere is for sure. . I was back for the Coventry away game and the atmosphere was rubbish. A few half hearted songs about cider in a can, garden sheds and us having more fans than them, plus we are top of the league and that was it. reckon that if you sent the younger generation back in time to a 70s game, they wont know what hit them!! Just part and parcel of the modernisation of the game I guess.

Reckon we could shift 5k to MK. Top of the table clash, easy to get to, only visited before once... Thats going to be a cracker.
