It was a tossup between Saltergate and Gay Meadow for the worst, yet best, away end toilets.

I'd also chuck in Brunton Park - certainly around 1980. My girlfriend at the time was amazed to find that the female toilets in the away end comprised of the male toilets with a steward stood outside :ffs:

Scarborough’s old ground (the actual name escapes me but at the time the McCain stadium I think) had an open away end that was little more than a crumbling weedy bank behind the goal. The facilities comprised a small room with one fat bloke taking food orders which he’d then cook himself.

Oh and fuck me, I’ve just remembered the old Vetch Field, now that was bad.

York City for me for worst toilets, a wall with a line drawn on it to piss against.

Did you ever go in Gillingham's old away end? Made Scarborough's look like the ritz. Priestfield's away end toilets as well, comprising a wall and a gutter, take some beating for most interesting 'facilities' at a football ground.

I wasn’t fortunate enough to visit the away facilities at our old away end, the toilets for home fans were awful enough.

I dread to think what they were like back then.

Two seasons running Peterborough have taken excellent numbers to Donny, but they can't even bring half that number to Oakwell. Why is that?

Perhaps some of you are a bit young, but Burnden Park had some of the worst facilities for away fans, we even came bottom in a survey that was done early 1980's

Yes. IIRC there were three huts in a row down the terrace, in order from top to bottom being Gents, Ladies and Refreshments. Presumably the steam supplied from the clientele of the first was piped under the second to provide some heating, and then used to warm the pies at the third.

My only visit to Burnden Park I was in the home end behind the goal (3-3 draw in early 90’s) and the thing I remember most were the seats, rather than the usual football ground plastic seats it was just rows of what looked like school chairs.

Around 1,250 sold for Blackpool tonight with pay on the day as well although I can't imagine too many deciding at last minute to travel 3 or 4 hours across the country to Blackpool on a Friday afternoon, especially with what seems to be chaotic weekend over there with various things on.

Is there a reason this is tonight rather than tomorrow?

Blackpool's big neighbours are at home on the Saturday so the police have prioritised.

It helps that Blackpool looks better in the dark.

Blackpool can handle Friday night football where as a Preston match would be even less quiet and an embarrassment to the football league. That is why they have moved the Blackpool match.
