I quite liked Saltergate to be honest, mansfield’s old away end was proper shit though. The gents toilet was an open air courtyard with a slight slope towards an open drain to take the piss away.

Like Bootham Crescent's away end then. Remember Kettering's* from the Conference days which the away end was just sloped concrete, not even steps and the toilets were worse than York's.

*Did like Kettering's Rockingham Road Ground though as it was an old school non-league stadium and had a very similar main stand to what the Manor Ground used to have.

Scarborough’s old ground (the actual name escapes me but at the time the McCain stadium I think) had an open away end that was little more than a crumbling weedy bank behind the goal. The facilities comprised a small room with one fat bloke taking food orders which he’d then cook himself.

Oh and fuck me, I’ve just remembered the old Vetch Field, now that was bad.

Yes, Vetch Field was a shocker and always welcoming locals as well.

Along similar lines to the Vetch Field was Boothferry Park.

Seem to remember it was Seamer Road.

Remember the Wolves fans falling through the roof when Scarborough (managed by Warnock) made it into the League and got Wolves at home first game

Also when they were home to Donny - announcement on PA giving supporters the leaving times for the minibus to Morecambe !

We've sold about 1200 up to today. Any fans that want to can pay on the day. It's not a bad following considering the distance and the way we are playing. We are awful.

You robbed us of 2m for Marquis and the the other donkey Downing. I predict 2 0r 3 nil to you

I quite liked Twerton Park but then we nearly always filled the away end.

Blackpool can handle Friday night football where as a Preston match would be even less quiet and an embarrassment to the football league. That is why they have moved the Blackpool match.
You do realise that by saying a Preston match would be less quiet you are actually saying it would be louder right?

Hi PBB - Many thanks for the information - sure you will be around 1500 in the end

Hope we dont fall foul of the "returning Player" curse - and JM will no doubt get a good reception

He was I think it fair to say a bit Marmite so half will be cheering him for his undoubted contributions to Rovers in the past - and the other half will be cheering becasue he has gone and as a bonus netted us an "undisclosed fee".

Cheers again JT

Downing like all our defence looks like they are wilting under the expectancy. The bad start has brought out the worst from our support with groans and jeers at the first signs of a misplaced pass or mistake. He's proven he's decent at this level in the past. Not helped having a different partner alongside him every week due to Jackett's constant tinkering, which as the weeks go on looks more like a blindfolded throw at the dartboard rather than any tactical nous behind it.

Marquis works his socks off, but the system we play clearly doesn't suit him and he is feeding off scraps. Like Downing his confidence looks shot and is paired with a different three behind him every week. Apparently we're now going 442 with Pitman alongside him according to Jackett. That'll last a week before he changes his mind again no doubt.

It feels like the first two months of this season have been an elongated pre-season with the manager trying different players and set-up's. Hardly ideal for any newcomers to settle in and establish any consistency.

Because you normally have hundreds in the home ends (allegedly) at SB.
I thought it was because Lincoln needed those extra seats against us to stick their banner across.

Not really sure why that winds some Grimsby fans up. It’s something the 617 came up with but I guess the majority of them haven’t even seen that many Lincs derby games over the years. Tbf though they have truly transformed the SB atmosphere over the last few seasons, so I can allow them a few cringeworthy moments.
