By loads of times you mean?

I'm 41 and only recall 4 games at ours in my time.

90/91
00/01
01/02
02/
I go back a lot further than that. I know the old years are ticking by but my first time watching Pompey was in the 60's Yes I've been to Hillsborough loads of times. I've done about 80 odd away grounds in all 4 divisions. I remember going to Sheffield must have been early 80's. I worked the friday night and one of the lorry drivers was from Sheffild and i got a lift up with him. Watched us lose and jumped the special train back home. Mrs wasn't to pleased lol Good old days eh

Well done thats a lot. Yeah I remember the names of the old grounds better than the new names. Donny used to be Bell Vue God knows what it is now. Keepmoat or something similar.

I love football and am a season ticket holder and go to as many away games as I can. Glad I didnt go today it being called off at 2 pm. Most of the Pompey fans would have been in Crewe by then 1500 odd I'm told.

We’re such a weird fan base.

Sold over 1000 for Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday when the season is dead but there was under 700 at Wigan last weekend.

Easier to get to on the train? Sheffield having more of an appeal than Wigan?

Train journey is almost identical, 2 hours direct.

Maybe Sheffield has more appeal but always find Wednesday a naff away day. It’s a harder journey getting to and from the ground and the station than it is London to Sheffield!

It’s after the game usually to be fair. Before the game it’s easy enough to get a cab.

To be honest, if the game goes as I expect it to I’ll be leaving early anyway and getting a quiet tram.

Walk into Hillsborough from the ground and you have more options mate.

Also the Blue tram route serves that stop and goes to back of the train station

Did that in 2009 I think it was. Left on around 60 mins when you went 3-0 up and walked to Hillsborough.

Train back is 18.11 so plenty of time.

Message to any of the Cambridge fans on here. How many do you think you'll bring to us on Saturday, as your away support seems to fluctuate quite a bit?

Our last three home gates have all been over 10,000 and Saturday will be another decent crowd, so wondered if a good following from you might push it into five figures again?

If I were to guess, I'd say 800 was possible but I might be surprised.

There seem to be far more families/dads travelling with young kids than I remember and they won't be put off by the relatively rubbish travel and general awayday experience outside the stadium. (pot calling the kettle black, I know).

Not expecting much from this and up coming trips to Wycombe, Ipswich, Sheffield, Sunderland and Wigan, other than the enjoyment of playing L1 football with the comfort of a 10 point gap above likely relegation candidates and needing only 3 wins and a few draws for a successful season.

Cheers for the reply.

If you bring 800 then the total attendance is likely to be about 9,500, but we may have a bigger crowd than would normally be expected due to the tragic death of Joey Beachamp at the weekend, and a lot of extra people look likely to attend to pay their respects.

Be good if we could top 10,000 for the fourth game running.

901 Plymouth which is outrageous for a Tuesday night. I’m going to assume they didn’t all travel up from Devon!

Odd that. Sold 500 and then 100 by yesterday lunchtime, but plenty queuing to pay on the day when I collected my ticket. Mmmm?
I’ve seen that figure twice but the most official place was Toby Lock, so who knows.

I still can’t find how many of us there were at Sunderland though.

Definitely the strangest bunch of fans to visit.

Spent all game running towards and goading school kids in the corner. Maybe rival schools or something.

That's interesting, as we had sold over 2,000 before our game there on Saturday, and apparently had over 300 walk ups, yet the away attendance was given as 1,987.

I presumed it was as a lot of our fans couldn't get there due to the effect of the storm on the rail network (which certainly did affect many that I know) but maybe there's more to it?
