Thought there may have been more Shaggers at Walsall .....
A few may have been put off by talk of expected traffic meltdown?
Or maybe people stayed home to watch Bury lovely Georgia on Strictly Dancing ...... arf!

Our average is looking good. Should be 1500 at Scunthorpe Saturday. Maybe more.

To be fair, i've always found Oldham's official away figures a bit dodgy. I'm not sure if they count on the day sales because i've been there twice in recent years and the official figure seemed short based on what we had sold before the match and what seemed like loads paying on the turnstile.

Same happened to us last season and I wondered if they'd counted on the day sales. Sold 2,400 before the game and the final away attendance was something like 2,440. I highly doubt only 40 people paid on the day given the queues for the pay on the day turnstile(s) and given we'd actually strung a few wins together in the preceding weeks, which always brings the fairweather fans out.

Looks like 1600 in that photo to me. The only clubs I've seen give out dodgy attendances are Rochdale and us back in the 90's under Bill Bell.

Rochdale's away end holds 3,600. We filled it in 12/13. No segregation netting on the front rows or in any of the blocks etc. All seats were taken up. They then said we had 2,900 there. Very odd.

In the 90's it was always a suspicion of Vale fans that Bill Bell would turn the attendance counters off at some point. Arsenal in 98 was funny. The whole stadium was packed full, except the away end with Arsenal bringing about 2,500. The attendance was announced at 14,000. It wasn't even close, you just had to laugh. The worst was a promotion celebration match against Genoa in 1994. There's a video on you tube showing how many were there. Belly announced it at 6,000. I was at an event at a local cricket club a few months ago which was attended by the legend John Rudge where he brought the Genoa match up. It was arranged by Rudgie, so he was expecting a % of the gate, which Bell had reluctantly agreed to. Before the match Bell came into the room, saw the ground was filling nicely, queues were down Hamil Road and I think kick off was delayed to get everyone in before kick off. He turned to the bloke who controlled the attendance counter and said..."turn that off" and walked out. Rudgie saw the funny side talking about it, but I bet he was fuming at the time.

We do not usually get too many squabbles like this in the non league away support section, as most games at Blundell Park you can count the number of away fans on your fingers and toes. :ffs:
If ever Scunny decided to join us here their fans could do the same on their fingers and toes, all the way up to 22.

All sales made on the day go towards filling David Dunn's fridge.

If we compare that bradford following with coventrys yesterday ..coventry were crammed into terracing and had some on the side of the stand ..going off a picture i saw of the terracing yesterday at burton and looking at that pic at oldham ..there is no way that is over 2000 bradford fans there ..no way

Preston gave us a somewhat dubious figure last season - our club reported that we'd sold 2,600 in advance, and the turnstile queue's for POTD were quite long.

The official figure given was 2,400 or something like that, was bizarre.

It was around 1800 apparently and we very vocal. Another good following which is great to see and can only see the following increasing. After years and years of nothing I think we'll surprise a few with the attendances in the coming weeks.

Looks like we've been given more tickets for Scunthorpe.

"Tax evasion"

Firthy - you massive number obsessed nut-hugging bell, wind it in.

For the record, I'd have said between 1600-2000, though it sounded like 20, which was surprising as you're normally quite vocal.

I'm quite surprised that you could barely hear us considering how silent the home end was, at times during the match the whole stand was on it's feet singing. I was actually disappointed with Oldham fans who are usually quite vocal too.

We're very vocal. Away, that is. We're shite at home and always have been.

I just thought you'd have created a bit more noise but you were a lot poorer than usual.

I don't think you posted the right link. That doesn't direct to anything and the user hasn't tweeted since 2012?

Simple, get a new phone.

Too early for a table? Is it bollocks. Numbers in red, as with last season, indicates a weekday evening game.

Hard to see how dem Blades aren't going to romp the Away Followings League™ again. Cov might run them close now it looks like they might have a season finishing above 17th. Fleetwood and Colchester early frontrunners for the wooden spoon, though Fleetwood's will probably be blown out of proportion by their game at Blackpool (like when they went to Preston last season).

So the top 6:

1. Coventry
2. Sheff United
3. Bradford
4. Barnsley
5. Wigan
6. Oldham

Yay, we're in the playoffs...

2000 years in this fucking division but we still take decent numbers.

Just outside the bottom four, excellent.

For the record, our game at Bradford was a tuesday night. Sorry to be pedantic.

549 average so far is exceptional considering 2 of the 3 were evening games on school nights and the Saturday was Fleetwood

Based on distances, opposition and the fact no local derbies yet unlike ourselves and Oldham, the Southend support is really top notch followings. It is also likely that our game against them is going to be moved to a Friday night due to Lardies being at home same day.

Fuck me it's Chesterfield, what do you expect, they're a standard L1 Outfit with home support that has only boosted significantly since the ground move. Anything over 1,500 is a fair enough effort in my eyes, people seem to expect way too much sometimes.

Be like us taking 2,000 to Coventry, be happy enough with that.

I suppose so.

Must admit I have been quietly surprised by your followings and, like you allude to yourself, you have us at BP soon.

How many do you reckon you'll bring?
