Decent enough start in the league, 25 minutes away in the car, i'd be expecting Wigan to clear 2,500 at Bury, easy.

They took about 2k to Coventry didn't they?

hi it says we have 1800 max. We could sell 3000 and people would say why not 5000 its not to far blah blah boring. Come the end of the season we will have one of the highest away averages and about 4th highest home crowds and if we were top 2 now there would be even more we expected a much better start i thought we would be top 2 by now
You have more than 1800 to fill. At the moment you've sold 800/900 which puts you in the end of the main stand. Still have a full stand to fill.

it says on the website mate after selling the allocation of tickets we can have up to 1800 on the day :\

this is what it says:
Supporters are reminded that when this allocation is sold, they can pay on the turnstiles at the East Stand, which holds up to 1,800 people.

Exactly. You said you were only bringing 1800?? If you've sold 900 already then will there only be 900 POTD? I think the full away allocation is 2,800+ in total.

Yes it is about that they will have 1800 available all in the stand behind the goal the pre sold tickets will be on the side i would guess.

No mate, you've got 1 and 1/2 stands to fill. You've pretty much filled that 1/2 stand with the tickets bought before the game. You'll still have 1800+ seats to be able to fill for any pay on the day fans.

I reckon we will take 1000 depending on the league position.

We won't take much more than 1,500 to Bury on Saturday due to Wigan Warriors playing in the Super League Cup final at Old Trafford on the same day. Wigan's not a big town, so dual club fans will understandably pick a Cup final for one of the two over a standard league match. Will lose well over 500 off what we would probably have taken otherwise.

I was going to put that Northern Soul. We would have taken 2000+ on Saturday to Bury but with the rugby final 10 miles away I think 1400 would be a very good following. The 1000 tickets offered were sold yesterday and the offering is 1800 tickets on the day available giving 2800 seats for away fans on Saturday. We had sold 986 tickets for Port Vale pre game the other week and took around 1500 (give or take before I get corrected on an exact number) so you would expect that this would be similar.

Surprisingly, Bury is 40 -45 minutes from Wigan defending where your travelling from. its 8 minutes closer than Port Vale is from us.(M6 direct makes the Vale trip easier than the others from Wigan) We took give or take a few 1500 to Vale & 1080 to Chesterfield (1hr 50 away) & 1600 plus to Oldham which is 45 minutes or so away, so if 1200 go to Bury then I think the rugby final clearly has had an effect if anything under 2000 and I think the estimate of 500 or so is not far off the mark.

I am waiting for the laughing when we take less than 200 to Peterborough on Tuesday in a few weeks then the great Wigan away support myth can go on.

Gillingham would be lower other than the Sheff united following. Gillingham is quite possibly the most unattractive fixture in the football league.

They once took 40,000 to wembley and it was funny seeing fans" there with West Ham tops on and arsenal tops with a gillingham scarf. Plenty football fans down in the area but not many locals even bother with them.

If you're gonna have a go at our support, don't pick a game when Wigan brought 8000 out of a 53000 attendance in a play-off final to back up your point. Just a suggestion.

Whereas the 8000 that bothered to go in your end that day, would have been full of Utd and Citeh fans, no doubt.

Not the biggest team in their own town - Possibly correct now. That is the sad state of football in Wigan and a reason a ground should have been built with a capacity of 18000 not 25000.

Not sure why the sulking from Gillingham fans. I wouldn't ever comment on your away followings as Gillingham must have the longest trips away on an average and credit to the ones that follow your club but Gillingham away isn't one that is ever going to get fans thinking "great".

With regards wembley, the season of 1999/2000 - Wigan had an average home crowd of 6773 and the highest crowd was 10048. Wembley saw 10200 Wigan fans attend which when you look at our highest attendance that year, it was lower than that, obviously accounting for a sizeable 1310 Bristol following. Meaning that Wigan that year took 1462 fans to wembley more than their highest home crowd that season. Not sure many fans from other clubs are interested in unglamorous Wigan.

Gillingahm on the other hand who averaged 6843 that season (after 2 very good seasons) - but did have a few poor attendances, such as the 2718 v Torquay that season took a massive 43,564 :fans: to wembley in a crowd of 53,764. It was comical to see West Ham fans and Arsenal fans with Gillingham scarfs on and on a day trip which shows that Gillingham is a footballing town, just the locals don't support Gillingham. The difference being that Wigan dislike the bigger clubs and vice versa but there are a number in recent times who had Wigan as a second club and now after a long period of success follow the team or the younger element who attended with their Everton or United supporting parents now follow us. City is different as they were struggling during the rise of Wigan Ath and had were in league 1 and the championship with us and then below us in the early years of our premier league stay.

Anyway, safe travels to anyone travelling today and I am looking forward to seeing the away figures later.

Can see it being a very low amount of Crewe fans at Oakwell today, can't see it being that many more than 100 tbh.

Seriously? It's only an hour and a half isn't it? Reading in the match thread though I can see your point, if the rest of your fans are as disillusioned then you might not be far off.

We all know that there was no way that there would be 40 odd thousand true Gills fans at Wembley that day, just the same as there was no chance of all the 37000 fans at the Truro v AFC Totton FA Vase final were proper supporters of both teams.

It happens like that.

By the way i am sure we hate so called bigger clubs as much as you do, its just we don't have so many on our doorstep.
