GK: Václav Hladký - Salford

RB: Kyle Knoyle - Cambridge
CB: Peter Clarke - Tranmere
CB: Will Boyle - Cheltenham
LB: Chris Hussey - Cheltenham

RW: Joel Randall - Exeter
CM: Josh Sheehan - Newport
CM: Hiram Boateng - Cambridge
LW: Carlos Mendes-Gomes - Morecambe

ST: Paul Mullin - Cambridge
ST: James Vaughan - Tranmere

Only two players we have who could get in, our Keeper Lawrence Vigouroux and striker Danny Johnson who has 20 goals in all comps and 17 in the league.

I've based mine on the games I've seen and mainly highlights.

Too many Cheltenham and Cambridge players for my liking there must be influential players in the bottom
half of the table who are stars in struggling teams.Admire your criterion for picking the team though.

Masi obviously isnt up yet....
If you were to pick one from our club it would be Matt Jay. He's been involved in more goals than Randall. Though losing the latter to injury these last few months has been a killer.
If Boateng was like he was for us he would have one excellent one followed by four average ones.
I'd pick Guy above him from what I've seen and read

Boateng run the show against Orient on Tuesday night so I can see why you've added him but sadly he missed 3 months of the season with a shoulder injury. That was when we had our blip this season.

When he has been fit he's been so good. Way too good for this league and I hope we sign him permanently. I would say Guy or Jay will be in it ahead of him because of his injury. I saw a stat recently though that Boateng has the highest pass completion stat in the whole league at 83%.

Knoyle and Mullin will 100% be in it though.

Callum Guy should be in it for sure. Believe he is top or joint at least with Worralll on assists this season. Cadden at FGR is the best wingback have seen. Other than that it’s who you want from the top 4 or 5 I suppose.

Only one from us with any sort of realistic shot would be Conlon. Almost 10 goals from midfield this season isn’t to be sniffed at and a decent number of assists too. I suspect someone from a team which has been more successful this season is more likely though and fair enough. Don’t want him drawing too much attention anyway.

I Have to say I was close to putting Nicky Cadden in, impressed me every time I've seen him play this season.

Barrow’s left wing back (Brough?) caught my eye with the goals he has scored lately.

Perhaps a bottom half team of the year would be interesting.

There must be players in Oldham’s attack and Southend’s defence that should be included.

Just at first glance you could say have a forward line of Rodney, Bahamboula and Quigley which isn’t too shabby to be fair. Stevenage and Southend could form the defence.

Edit - actually McAleny of Oldham probably warrants more of a shout to be fair. Didn’t realise he’d scored as many as he has.

9 goals and also 8 assists, a shining light in a dire season really has Conlon.

In terms of opposition.

Salford keeper is by far the best at this level. Gilks was good at Bolton despite letting in 6! Made 3 or 4 great stops to keep it from being an even bigger margin.

Piergianni for Oldham was outstanding in an awful side both times on the day.

Hoolahan and Mullin obviously for Cambridge and Tozer for Cheltenham.

Vaughan for Tranmere and Khan impressed both games.

Cadden for FGR was excellent both games.

Issue with a team of the season judged on 2 games though is for example Santos who’s the worst centre half I saw all season but will be in the team of the season come the end as he’s been excellent in 90% of games but I’ve only seen him twice!

In terms of opposition players to think about that we’ve come across...

Think you have to factor in Tozer of Cheltenham with that unreal long throw which has single handedly won them points this season. Alfie May was very good as well.

Matt Jay and Bowman from Exeter.

No one from Cambridge has really impressed in the games against us but hard to ignore Mullin, Ironside and Knoyle. Understand Hoolahan is a cracking player but if you only play half the games then I’m not having that he should be in a team of the year.

A player who I’ve been really impressed with is Alfie McCalmont of Oldham. Very good both times against us and seen him against other opposition as well. Tidy midfielder him and can see him going on to be a top quality player.

From a Tranmere perspective I think the original team is accurate. Clarke and Vaughan our stand outs. Spearing took a few games to adjust to League 2 but he’s been excellent as well.

Brough's 6 goals is a pretty decent return and he might win our player of the year - but he was fairly poor in the first half of the season at centre back.

Most of my picks would be from lower half teams, but again it's based purely on seeing players a maximum of twice. For example, Bolton, Cheltenham, Tranmere and Exeter haven't had good games against us this season.

Ironically, one of the best defenders I saw was from Oldham who seem to ship goals for fun - Harry Clarke.

Having seen pretty much every one of our games this season, none of our players would be worthy of being included.

3 of his 6 goals have come against Mansfield which might cloud your judgement - but yes for a wing back 6 goals is a good return.

One of the few times he actually turned up was in that game against you. Seems he likes being on telly.

I can't comment on other players, I rarely watch out for other players unless they do something fantastic against us (Jermaine McGlashan against us for Aldershot in 2012 for example).

In terms of our players getting in - the only one I would truly consider is Will Boyle. Tozer has his throw, but the main recipient of those throws was Boylo. Not only that, but he's been a rock in defence as well. It's telling that our worst patches of form have been when he's been out injured.

Not really into these sort of things but I will give it a go. I will add a disclaimer. Although I watch the highlights of all the games I do feel not being there means you miss a hell of a lot and the only games I watch the 90 minutes off are the Crawley games (except Bolton when I was at work).

Vigaroux

Clark, Tozer, Goodwin-Malife, Hussey

Josh Sheehan, Lewis Allesandra, Twine, Guy

Ironside, McAleney

Including our own players I would give a shout to Tom Nichols. 8 assists and 11 goals in the league this season is not to be sniffed at. I think Tunnicliffe is a pretty good centre half but our keeper, Morris, tops the charts for most saves so something is not right with our defence. Speaking of Glenn Morris. He has had another excellent season.

Clarke H (Oldham)
Cadden (FGR)

Harriott (Colchester)
Hunter (Salford)
Hoolahan (Cambridge)

Nichols (Crawley)
McAleny (Oldham)

Who is trying to be funny?

Your alter ego Masi said previously that Bolton had all the best players in all positions and as he is known for his well thought out and reasoned posts I thought it must be true.

So are you now trying to say that he was actually talking bullshit?
