I’m definitely more negative about stags than positive but if we can keep our squad together and avoid some of the big injuries we had last season then we’ll easily finish above Bradford.

Having us out at 16 or 18/1 when the likes of wrexham and notts county have those odds show just how little bookies know about the league i suppose.

Don’t really mean much though,
Yeah I reckon the Wrexham and Notts odds are to put people off betting them as much as anything else, and they'll probably move a fair bit once signings are made. For me we're a massive unknown, potentially a lot of turnover and a distinctive style that we could abandon before the season, be forced to abandon after a few games if it isn't working, or we could just have 70% possession all season again. I don't think the latter is too likely but then everyone said it wouldn't work in the NL either...

I can see these teams really going for it next season in L2, I would have said Bradford too but I don't see them doing anything with mega negative Mark Hughes still in charge.
How he wasn't sacked after the play offs is unbelievable, maybe they could tempt someone like Ritchie Wellens to manage them as he likes to move around a bit.

But it's definitely a stronger looking league next season so I'm pleased we were able to get out of it just now.

Don’t tell anyone but we picked Mark Hughes over Richie Wellens when he got the job.

I mean a few months into last season you showed how little you knew about the league saying that Orient and Stevenage wouldn’t last the pace and laughing at the idea that they had a much better chance of promotion than Mansfield ;)

Though I do agree you’re a great price at 18/1 and I’d very surprised if you weren’t play-offs minimum next season.

I’m not exactly the most optimistic stags fan but I’m definitely backing us at 18/1.

We finished the league top goal scorers, this summer is just about finishing the work we started in January by signing Kilgour to improve our defence which was at times shambolic. We don’t really need to sign a midfielder or forward now we got Swan permanently.

Hah.

The orient comment was more tongue in cheek but i certainly expected stevenage to fall away certainly.

Probably a little more pace on the wings, but as you state midfield is very strong and if we create the same chances as the season just gone, happy days.

Guess missing out on the playoffs has allowed clough to get business done early.

Very promising - and given i’m usually pretty pessimistic on us it’s an odd feeling.
