I suspect the new owner would want to own more than 75% of the share capital.
Also perhaps Scally keeps a small minority interest.
This would facilitate that.

Gills takeover complete! We are now one of those American owned clubs, Scally remains on the board as a minority shareholder

Seems like good timing, heading into the January window.

Absolutely, it was vital in our position to get it done before the window opens

Some people think the fit and proper persons test has already been passed, but again that’s just speculation at this stage.
I wouldn't put much credence in anyone passing the fit & proper persons test anyway.
One of our previous owners was bent as a two Bob bit & ran his 'empire' from an office above a kebab shop,on some dogshit London estate.
Yours seems a bit better!

Stockport County.
Has there ever been a popular U.S Association Football owner? I genuinely can't think of one. Hope they buck the trend for Gillingham but the nature of U.S sport means they nearly always think of it as a business. That isn't necessarily wrong and if they're good business people then the club can prosper. But there will be things the fans won't like.

No he hasn’t, there was an injection of cash a few weeks ago which was made legally by a charge against the clubs assets. Basically if the takeover deal failed he’d be guaranteed his money back through the charge. Nothing changed hands, now the deal is complete everything is in his name like any other chairman.

Hope it works out well.
Out of interest who actually owns the Ground.

The club owns the ground (and therefore whoever owns the club), so there’s not a lot to worry about there, if it was owned by a third party it’d be a cause for concern.

Pleased the Gills have sorted this out, good timing for them. They will need to throw some money at the squad in the coming weeks though.

Thanks for your kind words, I’m pretty envious of where you are right now with proper on and off field management, but I am pleased for you too. Orient were my preseason picks for the title and I’m damn sure you’re going to do it.

Transfer wise we’re pretty sound defensively, but we are going to have to invest in some players who know how to get over the halfway line, and, heaven forbid, actually start scoring some goals.

Colchester on Boxing Day is huge, but I don’t think we have the personnel yet.

Sounds like Preston Johnson wasn't aware of any rules at all after having to clarify how substitutes work! He probably thought FPP was a local pancake/waffle house.

Edit - Creepy have now put out an official statement saying all of that stuff above is baloney.

We struggle to compete financially with other clubs due to our fan ownership but I'm so pleased that we are fan owned. Anything major has to be approved by the trust board and the members which I'm happy with.

Our new owner had a look at other L2 clubs (and some lower) before deciding to buy us, looking at his Twitter and putting 2 and 2 together, he appears to have been interested in Donny and Bradford going by who he follows.

The players have not been sacked.

The three players have contracts but we're the ones left off the bus on the " orders" of Wagmi. Eben did link them being stood down to things discovered during the Yems investigation. We fans tend to believe they are up for transfer.

The club have not broken FPP rules (league 2 clubs don't gave FPP rules).

The club has stated categorically that they have not broken finance rules.

Tom Nichols was not sold due to any fallout from the Yems.

Tom was sold due to his age and that the club were not planning on offering a new contract in the summer. It was considered that £???k was a very good deal for the club in those circumstances.

We have enough problems with this type of rubbish. Taking a grain of truth and turning it into the Sahara

I couldn't remember what it is called but we haven't broken the rules...well Johnson says we haven't and I don't have access to the books.

Looking at your squad I very much doubt you have broken SCMP rules.
I was just pointing out that there are rules in leagues one and two, albeit different from the top two leagues.
