If Exeter go up travelling will be massively reduced next season for us. About 3/4 of the league less than 2 hours away.

So that's only 6 teams more than 2 hours away. Which of Yeovil, Newport, Stevenage, Colchester, Carlisle, Swindon, Cambridge, Grimsby and Crawley can you get to within two hours (I'll give you Cheltenham, FGR and Lincoln though they are pushing it

Carlisle is 1 hour 45 on the train from Crewe in fairness and by road, Cheltenham and FGR are easily done in under 2 hours in no traffic. Lincoln is a pain in the arse to get to from here so I'd say that's over two hours. Newport is 2hr 8mins fastest train from Crewe as well and I used to do Crewe to Swindon in 2hrs 15 by road when I lived there. I suppose Stevenage will be a little over 2 hours by train due to Euston (1hr 30 away from Crewe) being next to Kings Cross as well pretty much. The rest though are definitely huge treks.

Quick Google says that Carlisle and FGR are 2:40 Swindon 2:50 and Cheltenham 2:20 in current traffic. Didn't realise Ayrton was alive and posting on here :)

You can do Crewe in about 2 hours from Cambridge. You do have to leave at about 2am and do 90-100 all the way, but it is doable. My record from Cambridge to Keene uni (just down the road) was about 2 hrs 20mins.

The route things are rubbish anyway, it says its 2hr 13 from Mansfield to Cambridge, we always did it in about an hour and a half

Can’t really say at this point until clubs have done business. Morecambe if still in financial peril must be favourites again I guess.

I expect us to do better based on our five confirmed signings so far although not necessarily challenge the top seven this season as we consolidate after two years of mess.

I have seen us play against most of the teams we will face next season, with the exception of Bury and Oldham...so probably those two...we even met MK Dons in the League Cup last season. Away games, obviously Cheltenham and Swindon as they are easy to get to, probably Exeter at home as they always bring a good following and games against them are usually pretty entertaining.

I’m hoping we get Oldham away sometime in August as my Sister in Law has moved to Manchester from Milton Keynes so we can make a weekend of it while the weathers nice and kids are still on holiday.

Incidentally she said she’s met some creepy guy there called Adam who keeps stalking her.......

Looking at that list, there won’t be any ‘big’ clubs in the league next season like your Portsmouth’s or Coventy’s.. think it will be a very open league.

Not looking forward to any of it. Think it's going to be a difficult/ transitional season if Tis and a few key players go. No new grounds, same old, same old.
Sorry I'm a bit down at the moment.

Only plus side is the ground will be finished in the Autumn so the likes of Lincoln and Swindon can stop moaning about their allocations.

Agreed, Luton too were always big spenders. The likes of Plymouth and Doncaster too.

I guess Mansfield, MK Dons, Northampton and Notts County will have the biggest budgets? Perhaps the likes of Swindon and Forest Green too? I’ve got no feel for what Bury, Oldham and Tranmere will be spending compared to the rest of the league?

Much business still to be done over the summer, but doesn't keep us from already getting an idea of who will be looking for promotion and who will just be looking to survive.

Teams I think will be definitely up there include, in no particular order:
Bury (assuming they aren't in financial difficulty)
Lincoln
Mansfield
MK Dons
Northampton
Swindon
Notts County

Possibles for me are:
Tranmere
Colchester
Exeter (I thought they'd be definitely up there but if Tis goes it could be as Denzel says)
Oldham

Further outsiders who I think might just consolidate in mid-table but could make a go of it:
Port Vale
Grimsby
Crewe
Cambridge
Macclesfield

Teams who I think will just be happy for mid-table anonymity but may have one eye over their shoulder
Stevenage
Cheltenham
Crawley
Newport
FGR

And this leaves the teams who I think will be battling relegation:
Carlisle
Yeovil

One one team I think won't:
Morecambe

Might seem like I'm being all doom and gloom but I genuinely can't come up with a good argument for why we would finish above any of the teams I have above us in that list apart from 'you never know'. I knew we'd be in for a season of struggle and unfortunately can't find any other sides that are similar level basket-cases outside of ourselves, Morecambe and Yeovil so it's looking dire unless someone implodes in pre-season. Some of those teams I've forecast to do well also have it in them for an implosion that could turn my forecast on its head. Thinking Bury, Oldham, Grimsby, Vale, possibly even Exeter, and I guess we also do have it in us to pull one out of the bag because nobody knows what's going on behind the scenes at Carlisle, not even the board.

It feels like a very northern league this coming year. I'll probably end up at fewer games as a result. Annoyingly Barnet going down means no real "London" games which are always a great day out.

Stevenage is my closest game

Oldham and Colchester are the only two I've not done, I think.

Should be a few decent away days this year, looks a lot nicer for us geographically compared to the season just gone. Would be nice if we’re challenging at the top end but that largely relies on our managerial appointment.

At the moment, we seem to be making a more sensible approach towards the coming season, which is a refreshing change.

We still need to offload at least 5 big earners in my opinion, and Ryan Lowe is unproven as a manager in League Two.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us in the bottom third of the table but who really knows at this stage.

Surely it will be a battle for the title between Real Lincoln and BarcaCleethorpes...

You're forgetting Bury St Germain.

Unfortunately it could be a season of struggle for Yeoventus.

We could keep going at this:

Carlatasaray
Macclesbee Haifa
Bayern Munsfield
FGR Eindhoven
AC Milanton Keynes Dons

Just wanted to say how much I genuinely enjoyed this season, both in the league and on this part of the forum.
I've loved visiting the grounds I managed to get to and even though we just scraped through the playoffs it was so nice to win more than we lost which hasn't happened for quite some time.
I have enjoyed the posters on here and I will truly miss the Mansfield, Lincoln, Notts, Grimsby, Crewe , Port Vale weekly love-in.
I will even miss Carver, I know I bet you thought no-one would ever say that.
Thanks to the fantastic Exeter supporters yesterday who even though they must have been devastated showed absolute class by congratulating a lot of us inside and outside the ground yesterday, Some even applauded us down Wembley way, which was amazing.
Without doubt, my most enjoyable season since we crashed out the Prem in 2001, and I didn't enjoy many of them towards the end either.
So good luck to you all next season and we could well be back with you in 2019/20 season, or with four of you in league one that season.
Thanks again

2,000 miles less travelling for us this season, about a 25% drop. Probably half the games within. Hopefully get to a good 12-15 always this season if the fixtures fall kindly.
