If, off the field chaos and confusion reigns as strong as ever, on the pitch a glimmer of hope has started to flicker.

Neil Redfearn abandoned the diamond formation in January and since then we have played 12 won 7 drawn 2 and lost 3. If that had been our points per game haul from the start of the season we would be sitting top of the league now. At the time of writing we have played 36 games and that form would have given us 69 points, 3 clear of the rest. The most encouraging fact is the team that has done that have an average age of 23, so they will get better.

The off fields shenanigans could well spoil the hope for next season Our young players could be sold and Redfearn may not be given another contract. At Leeds you get used to having any hope extinguished quite quickly.

But, as it stands the hope is there for the time being. We may need to add about 3 quality signings to what we have for next season but then, providing the rest of the team is allowed to stay, the future is all white.
If my Auntie had bollocks she'd be my Uncle...

Your run of form is impressive but it means fuck all this season now.

It could mean something for next season though. A good end of the season will breed confidence and belief on and off the pitch for the next term. A bit of optimism could lead to more investment in better quality players because there will be a feeling that "it will be worthwhile". Optimistic fans are more likely to buy season tickets, so really it all sets the ball rolling.

For this term the run of form has all but killed the threat of relegation, so it has meant quite a lot this season as we avoid the agony that threat brings.

Could also mean you stick with the same squad and repeat the cycle of mid table mediocrity again. Much like us.

It does but it's more of a message for the owner. Redfearn has been left alone (certainly more so than before) to do his job and has shown signs of progress. Hopefully this demonstrates to Cellino that him sticking his nose in every 2 mins does nobody any good. Not that he'll pay it any attention mind.

I like this method. In that same period, we've won 9, drawn 1 and lost 2 which would give us 84 points after 36 games. Might as well give us the title now...

Yeah it's all a bit pointless but it's foolish to say there's not been progress since the turn of the year that bodes well for next season. We have a very young team (our midfield 5 recently have been made up of players with an average age of 21) and our form has been excellent. With the right signings we could be a threat next year.

5 wins in our last 6 away games, conceding 3 goals. All good stuff. Just hope Redfearn can continue his good work with some support in the summer to bring in the right sort of players.

Not sure about their contractual situations but we need to be pinning Byram and Mowatt down on long term deals.

I agree with that, although I think it's even more important to tie down Lewis Cook. We need to build the team around these players.

Redfearn has been brilliant since changing the system. Need to give him time to build something long-term.

Anything other than a 2 year deal being offered to Redfearn would be criminal.

If we don't somebody else will!!

Steve Thompson essentially sacked for asking when he and Redfearn will be handed a new contract.

Just another routine day at Elland Road.

Its been going along very smoothly and quietly at Elland Road but wasn't going to last - the assistant has gone and the manager might.

Leeds United head coach Neil Redfearn has said he is "considering his position" after assistant coach Steve Thompson was suspended.

Thompson joined Leeds from neighbours Huddersfield in December and, alongside Redfearn, has overseen the club losing just three league games this year

I wouldn't blame Redfearn if he walked away from this mess. He wouldn't be the first, and I'm damn sure he wouldn't be the last either.

Just bewildering really. Since Thompson comes in:

1) The players really like him and he's helped bring players like Luke Murphy out of the cold and into form.
2) The team have a record that would compete for promotion in the league over the course of a season.
3) Redfearn has an assistant he can bounce off and share the workload with.

The pair of them have done fantastic this season to drag us away from relegation with the circus going on. But yeah we have to get rid of Thompson for no reason that's been specified and this is likely to pull the rug from underneath Redfearn's feet. Why? Who knows. But it takes a fucking moron to not realise that Redfearn/Thompson are a duo capable of bringing the best out of a sorry state of affairs.

It is barmy what is going on at Leeds, just let the head coach or manager do what they need too with no hassle and maybe things will get good but bloke who runs it just hasn't got a clue which I am sure entertains a lot of fans but any other club could end up with a similar situation if ownership is in wrong hands.

Been lingering around for ages. A lot of people think it's Cellino stirring to try and get people to think the grass isn't greener.

Selling to Red Bull would be the worst possible thing that could happen to us so in that sense it works, but it doesn't mean Cellino's off the hook.

Whilst they continue to deny it, I still think the Red Bull interest is genuine. They have been desperate to break into English football for a long time.

What better opportunity than targetting a broken one club city team like Leeds.

£22.9m loss posted against £25.4m turnover, that's scarily bad shit!

Also the audited accounts are being scrutinised after they were prepared by a firm of accountants that have family connections to the club.

Oh dear

To be fair that doesnt take into account the £20m capital Cellino put in to the club this season, nor the transfer fee receieved for Ross McCormack.

Cellino just needs to sell up, pass the club on to owners that geuinley care about the welfare of the club and its supporters. Leeds, run properly, with all connected people moving in the same direction, could be a machine.

Sad really.

The £20m capital would have no affect on the losses posted.

As for the McCormack fee, i suspect that plus the £20m will cover this years losses.

Re Leeds being a machine, perhaps if the fans actually bothered to turn up at home and didn't spend match days on waccoe i'd agree, although you're not that much bigger than us.

I would disagree, Leeds are a huge club that dwarfs Wednesday.

Completely agree with you, as an example, it is my opinion that Derby are a bigger club than Wednesday and I'm pretty sure you'll disagree with me. Depends on the criteria people use.

So six players are basically on strike having declared themselves unfit to play tomorrow. Hopefully this will signal the backfire of Cellino's Serie B plan.

All seems very odd with these 6 players. They all trained without a problem yesterday. Could it be anything to do with money?
