We still look dreadful going forward but it’s nice to get the win, Owura Edwards coming back will make us much better. Danny Rose, Pollock, Waterfall and Hendrie are the core of a team capable of the play-offs but we look so weak elsewhere.

Sounded like we were second best tonight against a good Carlisle side, at least we battled to the end I suppose.
You nearly got an equaliser!

A lot of teams would fire in the towel at 3-0 with 10 minutes to go, not Newport.

Great result at Harrogate and we were so much better than in recent games. First half Harrogate had the possession whereas we had the chances but in the second half, bar one mistake in the 10th minute of added time from Scotty, we could have scored 3 or 4.

We were pressing with intensity, had some identity, some great passing patterns. Just goes to show that the players are there to play some great football this season and could be the start of some exciting stuff from us. Brilliant performance.

On a side note hope the lad that had a nasty fall late on in the game is alright. Led to 14 minutes of added time. Wish him a speedy recovery.
Yes, we were excellent tonight. It will sound ridiculous given our position, but when we get going we are as good as any team I have seen this season.

We have got a decent squad and hopefully the new manager has enough time to get us into the promotion race.

Yeah you could still tell that they're a good team despite being 3 nil down at one point, but we're good too.

We were very good. Just switched off last 10 minutes thinking game is done so hopefully that’s lesson learnt.

Agree with all this.
Listening to that Harrogate commentary on ifollow drove me up the wall.
Thought it wasn’t going to be our night until Otis popped up with the winner. Good all round team performance, possibly our best of the season. Hope Will Smith the Harrogate lad makes a full recovery from that shocking injury.

Ian Dawes is now the only manager in league 2 with a 100% record. Lol.

It's the Carlisle way mate, we don't do comfortable wins!

Lets start on a positive note, we scored! We tried our best not to but we finally scored! All for nothing though as Colchester played us off the park and thoroughly deserved their 3-1 win.

From the word go Colchester were in control, targeted our right hand side, doubled up on Luther and he couldn't cope. Harriott and Bramall had a field day, it was the source of two of the goals including the opener. Harriott into Brown, unfortunately Cuthbert failed to intercept the delivery so Brown had a simple tap in from 3 yards. We managed to level after winning a penalty. Definite pen, Dinanga stepped up, it was saved and he tucked in the rebound.

Anyway, the game continued with more bombardment down our right hand side until about the 30th minute when the brain trust finally realised that something needed to be done. It helped us stem the threat for a while, before a well worked and well taken second for Brown made it 2-1. Lovely pass in behind by Harriott, well timed run by Brown to break the offside trap and he stayed composed to beat Cumming with ease. After that Colchester were in control, good passing football, plenty of pace and width, exactly how the third come about, Bramall into Brown who cushioned his header across goal into the far corner giving Cumming no chance.

No complaints with the result, comfortably beaten by the better side, we're doomed though I think. Just have no faith in the management to turn it around, not even sure who is (realistically) on the market for us if we were to seek a replace. I suppose the Kitman hasn't had a crack at the role yet so only fair he has ago before we give up on the current setup.

A name being banded about as a replacement keeper is Josh Vickers......Any Imps rate him or not?

“There’s always someone worse off”, turns out that’s Southend fans, good luck for the season, maybe we won’t finish bottom (probs 23rd).

1-0 to Walsall tonight. Scrappy game with some good passages of play from both side. We still have brain farts away from home.

Tide was turned when our keeper injured himself kicking the ball. The young keeper we brought on, Tom McGill, is a good prospect but seems to have a habit of pushing the ball back into the six yard box when he saves a shot. Walsall scored from a corner given away when he couldn't hold a shot, header from the corner he managed to save but pushed it straight out to Matt Saddler (ex Crawley player) to score. He did it again later but the Walsall player mucked up putting it away.

We did hit the post twice and had some other good moments but we didn't play well enough to win that. C'est la guerre.

I thought the Walsall centre forward had a good game.

Is this your best 11 or are you missing players?

I am hopeful we will get slightly better when our injured players return. If this is your strongest team then I would be very worried.

Missing three players but they won't change much

Back to our best tonight and a fully deserved win, but boy did we make it difficult near the end. Two really soft goals to concede.

Newport had a really good spell at beginning of the second half at 1-0, but we weathered the storm and scored 2 really good goals to go 3-0 up.

the last 10 minutes is a lesson learned not to switch off when you think the game is won.
Agree with that. You were comfortably the better side and deserved the win. But you ultimately won with a ludicrous penalty decision!

Don't think your manager thought it was ludicrous. I'm sure we'd have still won without the penalty. Probably still go at least 2-0 up and probably wouldn't concede two goals by going to sleep.

And that’s not having a pop at Carlisle, who are the best side we’ve played!

I’m sure you would have won, but there was absolutely no way that was a penalty!

Interesting that the bookies pretty much have a 7 horse race for the title after tonight’s games with Newport at 6/1 favourites and Cambridge 7th favourites at 10/1 so 5 other teams in between. Personally I think anyone is capable of beating anyone this season apart from the bottom 4 or 5 sides! Not sure how Carlisle are 20/1 when they’re in 5th!

I thought Kayode got his body in front and bought the penalty. Very soft, I’d have been fuming if that had been given against us. I think Kayode was clever, about 5 minutes earlier a Newport defender had bought a similar foul, going down easily when he got in front of Alessandra. I think Kayode has clocked this and thought he can maybe buy one as well.

Probably a bit soft but not one you should be feeling so hard-done-by over.
Without it, it would have been 0-0 half time and potentially a different game! Though, as I say, on the balance of play, you were worth a 3-0 lead at half time. Just ironic that your goal came from such a soft penalty. Anyway, we move on. Good luck for the season!

Crawley manager with his interviews again.

Question.
What could the team have done differently?

Answer

Score!

True but not exactly helpful.

Popped up in Chris Beech's interview that not only do we have the most changed squad in the transfer window in the EFL but also the youngest, or least EFL matches under their belt, or both.
