To be fair, they've probably forgotten who you are at this point.

Honestly though it all just amazes me that pretty much every other club; including those with an "element" like ourselves, Cardiff, Stoke, etc; had few problems knocking a new ground up. I don't want to have to go to KR again.

Got to say I don’t think it’s the prettiest looking thing I’ve ever seen! Apparently draws on local architecture of the Hat Factories etc, which my less than artistic mind can’t really draw a parrellel too.

Less about what it looks like to me though and more about the opportunities it provides local people and of course the club

Yes it is glass which isn’t really showing up to well in the picture and the orangey glow isn’t doing it many favours, but I darent criticise too much from the looks of the Outlaws comments!

To be honest these pictures rarely seem to look like the finished product.

Tobefairlike, whilst it shows the hypocrisy of the consultants (well, I suppose they whore themselves out for the highest dollar), I do agree to an extent it's difficult to compare like for like.

I actually think the areas of the report that are more damning for C&R are the claims and calculations which are completely unsubstantiated and look like they've been plucked out of thin air.

I also note this article which completely goes against what they're claiming in Luton. They're becoming a bit useless aren't they?

The stadium when built will house up to 23,000 people when complete, different from the indenti-kit stadiums you see around the country - it will be iconic. However, it won't get built unless Newlands Park gets built too; as it will be used to pay for the stadium. See full details below:

A date has finally been provided for a council decision on the plans. 16th January for the stadium and the 30th January for the “enabling development”. Was supposed to have been before the end of the year but I guess a months delay is actually pretty good going with the way things have gone thus far.

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome, dread to think what will happen if either is rejected really.

Can't see it, Council Elections in May. Don't think Councillor Timoney would have gone on the radio this morning of she didnt have a pretty good idea that they are going through.

Funny looking back to the stories around when the planning application was being submitted and Luton were saying they hoped to get final permission by January 2017. I think we all knew that was too optimistic at the time but it will be a full two year delay in the plans and in truth it is essentially guaranteed that any positive result from the council will head off to the courts.

At least it moves the process forward though.

Here's the Council statement:

We can confirm that our Development Control Committee will determine 2020 Developments’ planning application for Power Court on 16 January 2019; and for Newlands Park on 30 January 2019.

Cheers we'll need it. Even if the council approve the plans there is still a long way to go before we move into to a new stadium. The main opponents to the move will do all they can to get any decision reversed and continue with their delaying tactics. A nasty bunch.
IF we finally get the green light to start building the technical challenge of preparing the site is a huge one.
I think we all felt, rather niavely, that when our board presented the plans we would be in the new stadium at the start of the 2020/21 season. We did not anticipate any serious opposition or the length of time our local council would take in getting to the approval stage. 60 years we've been trying and this is the closest we've been. Anger and frustration has been replaced by a rather cautious level of optimism but acceptance that it ain't going to happen any day soon.
Any link to the Southend project. Was quite a few years ago that I first heard about Southends proposed relocation.

Totally understand that sentiment, which might seem reactionary to those on the outside! This is bigger than just getting a football stadium, it’s about regeneration of a town that has been woefully left to rot. If this is rejected then that perpetuates that for many years to come.

I concur, the town is sliding into oblivion. The level of public support for the applications reflects just how badly both of these projects are needed. I dont thibk its over the top to say there would be riots if they didnt go through.

They will go through, however its going to be a few more years before we move out of Kenilworth Road.

That does look bloody impressive! I dread to think how much our project has cost so far. £2m on applications plus another £20m mortgaged on land. I dread also to think how much C&R’s continues resistance has cost the town in council tax, resources and indirect losses on Luton.

The planning officer in his report has recommended that the Luton Town Power Court stadium be APPROVED at the hearing next week.

Massive moment, but still hurdles to jump.

Just thought, if the cup replay v Sheff Wed got picked for TV and moved to Wednesday it would be on the same day as the first Planning meeting for the Power Court decision. That would be a massive day for the club all round.

Decision day for the Stadium, planning meeting taking place right now. Should know in the next two hours. Although the whole project will hinge on the Newlands Park decision in two weeks time, make no mistake, this is massive.

Come on LBC, get it done...
