After a really good start, Macclesfield seem to have tailed off somewhat in recent weeks. Whether that is due to the lack of payment or the unsettling nature of Campbell leaving, I don't know, but we need to be right on it as always to get a result. Win this and we have Stevenage at home next week, where you would hope we could get a win, and then we'd be right in the mix.

I feel like we've shown too much respect to teams when playing away from home, instead of imposing ourselves. Once we go ahead, we need to kill games off. Lapses of concentration have seen us let in late equalisers at Orient and Salford, who both should never have still been in the game at that point, and with an extra 4 points we could have been troubling the top 3.

We often, historically, seem to struggle on a tight pitch, of which Macc's is another one. We end up lumping it forward with not much plan, so let's hope we've learnt a lesson. I genuinely don't know what to expect. We could give someone a pasting with the amount of chances we create, but as seen at Grimsby, we are prone to a complete off day.

I am optimistically going for a 2-1 win.

Tricky but winnable, huge away following hopefully will spur the lads on.

If we can win this we are really starting to look up with Stevenage to follow so a big incentive and a spell of games that could define the route of our season.

I think Gibbons will come in at Right Back and Atkinson will move into midfield for Burgess, hopefully we can win again after winning here a fortnight ago in the cup... all be it very different sides set to line up!

Draw wouldn't be the end of the world if we follow it up with a win against Stevenage but hopefully we go all out for the win.

Heart 2-1 win Head 1-1...

I can't wait for this one. Vale fans will outnumbered us massively which is embarrassing but hopefully the atmosphere should spur some of our lads on.

Tight game but 2-1 win for Macc is my prediction.

Will be good to see a few of the old Macc lot too.

We'll probably go for the same side we play every week (injuries dependant):

Evans
O'Keefe - Welch Hayes - Kelleher - Vassell - Archibald
Harris- Kirby
Odasebe - Gnahoua
Ironside

If we can’t beat that side then I give up.

I'd be disappointed to lose this as we've only lost 3 and 2 of them were 1st and 2nd when we faced them but to win we will need to end the away day hoodoo which just seems to be a problem at the moment, twice we've thrown away wins in the dying seconds... although in all competitions this is the only ground we have won at this season!

They've not won in 8 I think so if we can perform to the levels we are capable its there to be won but they've a half decent home record even if they haven't been winning games. (only lost 1 but only won 2)

It's a game that we are capable of winning but we often underperform in these situations. Although they haven't won many, Macc have got draws against decent teams. It's going to be a tough game tomorrow.

17 minute train journey. 6 or 7 pints beforehand. Dry weather ( by the looks of it ), sold out following.

it's Port Vale, what could possibly go wrong !!!

With Montano and Cullen both fit again, and Gibbons back after suspension, we have a strong squad for this one. We should be looking for the 3 points, but if we managed a draw and then beat Stevenage, I would be happy. I'm working in Macc tomorrow, but won't be at the game.

Know a lot about our players then? For what it's worth I'm expecting a draw, that seems to be our specialty at the moment.

How’s Vassell done for you?

Is nathan Cameron injured as surely he would be put in macs starting line up by any of there fans?
Vassell didn't play many games for us dont think he was very good really but he did play reasonably well in our last game of last season away at bury.

He went off injured against us in the Leasing Cup

Cameron's being eased back (very slowly) from a pre season injury I think. He's hardly played all season so not match fit. But the decent form of the other defenders means we haven't had to rush him back into the team.

2 up front but dropped Amoo to make us tighter in the middle. Interesting...

Poor performance so far, hopefully this is one of those games where we then come out like a house on fire in the second half!

Sounds like we’ve gone for the diamond because we beat their reserves with our reserves in the Leasing.com trophy with it when we had no fit wide men! Not working at all, get Amoo on for one of the strikers and go back to what works.

Why wait till losing to make the change when the formation wasn’t working! Gifted this one away.

Absolute embarrassment, serious questions for Askey after that.

Why change to a formation that doesn’t work when in form... then persist with it until the game has gone.

We want to progress that has to be three points or at worst a point today. Worst performance of the season and in typical Vale style we have a shitter against a team in shit form.

Haven’t been so can only go off what I’ve heard but sounds like we got exactly what we deserved.

If we tried a diamond first half I’d suggest Askey goes 5 miles down the A500 and see why that system is garbage especially when you don’t have players that suit it.

He didn’t need to play the diamond! It was suicide, stick with what works and we get a result against them today. Got done down the channels with that formation and then dragged into their game rather than impose ours.

Alongside the second half at Grimsby that’s by far the worst performance we’ve put in.

The one gripe I have with Askey and it’s been the case since he’s been here is on occasions he lets games drift rather than make changes when it clearly isn’t working. Only seems to make a sub when a player is injured or we are losing.

It just seemed a case of waiting. The high press would of murdered them today but he bizarrely set up like that. Only he knows why but he will rightly be slaughtered for it.

Low point of a half decent season so far, huge reaction needed next weekend.

With the greatest of respect I'm sick of being outplayed by a much smaller club where players are literally not being paid. Why do we do this in front of a good following?

The team was completely wrong, showed way too much respect and changes weren't made quickly enough, which is becoming a common trend. If we'd have played football rather than trying to play percentages we would have won that game but Macc out fought us and deservedly won. Extremely poor.

Apart from Crewe as we generally get results there we always do this when we have a big following and have for years! Chesterfield’s, Notts, Macc you name it! It was predictable. Just not in the way I expected with us setting up like Stoke City and leaving all our pace on the bench!

We’d scored 11 in 4 games let them worry about us not change it!
