Di Maria yes but Falcao was a punt on a loan. Rojo I don't think was ever bought with the intention of being a definite first choice this year. We just badly needed another CB due to all out existing ones being crocks. For the money we paid he has more than justified himself and will continue to be an important squad member at CB and FB.

I'm not sure why you continue to push this failure in the transfer market bollocks.

As I said in the last post you didn't reply too short of paying 10-15 m too much for Di MAria and swapping Welbeck for an on loan Falcao Van Gaal did as well this summer.. Overall he did about as well as could be expected given the circumstances.

Edit - Actually on second thoughts I'm probably doing your post a little disservice there. I'm just sick of the narrative on Van Gaal being solely about the money spent. Falcao and Di Maria are undoubtedly disappointments.

Falcao was relative to the superlatives Man Utd received when he first signed. It's hardly just a punt - his wages are astronomical and there was likely an undisclosed (exorbitant) loan fee. Monaco didn't spend so much on his transfer fee only to sacrifice a year of the asset they signed. They will have recouped a good amount for this season.

I think Rojo was a poor signing for the price. Better centre backs have been moving for less. He wasn't signed to be a LB, either.
