I think most managers are tapped up to some extent. Anything official only seems to go in once they know there's interest from both sides in the job.

The Club can confirm that it has reluctantly given permission for Manager Graham Coughlan to speak to Mansfield Town about the vacant position at the One Call Stadium.

Two approaches were made last week by the Sky Bet League Two side requesting permission to speak with Graham Coughlan about the manager's position, both were rejected by the club.

However, it became apparent that the interest from Mansfield was significant and due to the fact that Graham had been working away from his family home in Sheffield for the last decade, it was evident that he would welcome the opportunity to work closer to his family and we therefore reluctantly granted permission to Mansfield to discuss terms.

Joe Dunne led training this morning to prepare the squad for Tuesday's Emirates FA Cup replay at Home Park and he will continue to be assisted by Kevin Maher, Adrian Tucker and Lee Mansell.

I have lost all respect for him quite frankly. We rejected 2 approaches, whilst Mansfield still had a manager. 2 weeks ago he's calling for more unity and to get behind him & the squad. Suddenly he engineers his own move away from the club who rewarded him with a long 2 1/2 year contract in his first job in management.

F*ck him. He's not bigger than the club.

Hmm, it stinks from a Rovers point of view, but I can't blame him for wanting to be closer to his family and he'll get a decent budget. Probably not the best career move for him on paper but could go either way. We do have ambition and a bit of cash but it hasn't translated into any success yet.

Must say, I'm a bit surprised - sure he did a good job at Luton, be he was so f*cking awful at Stoke, I'm not sure a championship team would be interested.

Yeah I think since Barnsley he was a total flop at Leeds.

Did really well at Hibs when he took over, but started this season poorly and got the sack I think.

I see why the club want an experienced manager who’s been promoted from L1, we are in a great position and need to keep the momentum up (although it seems likely JCH will be sold). Personally I’d be interested in the Barrow or Bromley managers

You heard right but they're wrong. They took a few vocal people on forums/social media as being representative of the fanbase. They aren't.

And it isn't recently as it was at the end of 2018 when things were a bit desperate as we were sat in the relegation positions with a number of our pre-season key signings (Carruthers, Holmes etc) injured for most of the season where KR had taken a punt.

Robinson had a good January window and we have since been one of the best teams in this calender year. It has taken him time to stamp his approach on to the club but it is happening now as can be seen all the way through the club from 1st team to the Academy. It helps that the club has invested in and got the training ground.

Robinson really has got us playing some lovely football.

I was annoyed when I heard that, as it portrays a very inaccurate picture.

As MarkedOx says, it goes back over a year, was a small but loud minority of people, and couldn't be further from the truth now. Karl is doing a great job, not just of putting together an exciting and entertaining team, but of immersing himself into the Oxfordshire community, and respecting the club's history (unlike a certain chippy Yorkshireman now managing Sheffield United!). He is very well liked and respected here, so the Quest soundbyte was far from the truth.

On the subject of Quest, I like Colin Murray, who is generally well informed and doesn't patronise lower league football, unlike some of the Sky presenters. The coverage has got better. However, Sam Parkin cannot bring it upon himself to say anything positive about us (he's ex Swindon) so I really hope he has to give his thoughts on an Oxford United promotion in a few months time. I'll set record for that!

Yeah he’s been granted extended leave, apparently his 6 year old daughter is in intensive care. Really sad and I hope she can make a full recovery. As it seems he was informed pretty much at the full time whistle, I’d assume it was something quite sudden.

I must admit I was quite annoyed when he didn’t turn up for the post match interview (which looked like he was hiding from the fans), but this is really sad and a sharp reminder that there are many things more important than football.
