Completely the right decision to get rid of Keith Hill now. In one statement you’ve completely changed the mentality of the club and the fans. His press conference on Saturday was insulting to the club and fans

The only people not happy with that today will be Morecambe. Full backing to Dawes and Parky now!

He wasn't really the worst though obviously I'm looking at it from the turn a blind eye side and I reckon he's improving in man management as he ages which was his other big weakness. Won't be surprised to see him make a really good fist of it somewhere later in his career, like his approach to football.

Yeah it’s a funny one with Coops, does a lot of things very well but his PR needs to improve at his next club.

I met him quite a few times when he played for us, came to our games in the years in between (after he’d made up with Trev) and then obviously when he managed us, not exactly a laugh a minute but always seemed decent enough in person.

Obviously struggled with man management of certain players/staff (although that got better recently) and his relationship with a large section of our fans was never the best. He isn’t exactly a Jurgen Klopp type of people person and seems pretty sensitive to criticism.

Reckon he’ll do a good job for someone. Results and style of football are generally good, we were in no way as shithousey as some make out, in fact I wouldn’t mind us being more that way under our next manager as at times I’ve felt we’ve been bullied out of games and seen opposition pressurise refs into decisions that we rarely get.

Only met him briefly a few times on away trips in the clubhouse or over the barrier and he always made time to exchange a few words, plus I tend to prefer blokes who don't try to be everyone's best mate so while I get he rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way wasn't something bothered me. Missed his playing days while living away.

The way we've worded our statement suggests that everything has been agreed already with the new manager, which is why it doesn't add up to be Adams, unless we've approached him in an underhand way.
2 + 2 = ? To me it does add up to Adams. Our ceo said something along the lines of "wait for what you want and you get it". Morecambe gave us permission to speak to him in January but he didn't want to come. What he has done there has put his CV to cloud level and he may wonder if staying another year will better or diminish it or does he stand a better chance elsewhere. Whoever is coming will know what will be happening at the club in close season so now is probably a good time to come here. I'd love it to be Mickey Flynn though.

To be fair though Chris you once described Lee Hughes as a ‘top guy’ too.

He was good with our fans, good banter always happy to have a pic with the kids and seemed a cheerful sort of bloke. Talk to fans of clubs like Vale and Notts and they’ll say the same.

Doesn’t excuse what he did in the past but I’m not one to judge, prefer to take people as I find them.

He was great with charity work and that with our younger fans was Hughesy.

Football is fickle.. we gave him so much shit when against Notts County as he hit a hatrick...

Two seasons later we are all doing the Hughesy.

I can only take him at face value but he was a decent guy whilst at the club.

I'd rather Flynn to Adams too.

Think its worth mentioning that Nerdford are also on a look out for another manager - Gary Bowyer has gone back to Derby U23s.

Us fickle (Keith Hill's words)Tranmere fans like attacking football with passing on the ground. Its the cynical stuff that bothered us more.
Mind you its different when its your own team at it
You probably like attacking football with passing on the ground because you had the football genius Ronnie Moore in charge for so long

Suggestion on a Rovers forum of Richie Wellens to Bradford?

While I know Oldham fans disliked the way their team played under Ronnie Moore, he had Tranmere playing some decent football.

Its horse for courses. Rotherham fans liked him. Oldham fans didn't. Gary Brabin wasn't liked at Tranmere but the players he signed played a big part in getting us promoted twice. Mickey Mellon acknowledged it after the 2019 play off final.
Keith Hill and his 'rock and roll football' will not be remembered well and that most definitely is his fault.

Brabin was a strange one. With the squad he put together in the first season, Rovers should have made the play-offs. His reluctance to engage with the fans and some ill-judged remarks meant he didn’t get cut any slack when things started going wrong. The defeat at home to Welling in the first game after legendary manager Johnny King’s passing ranks as one of my worst experiences watching Rovers.

That was when he lost the fans. An already relegated part time team who only got to the ground at 2 30pm after travelling up by train.
The crowd wanted a fitting tribute and we got one of the most awful performances in years.
A celebration of a legend turned into a near lynching

Why do clubs keep employing this Richie Wellens guy for 5 minutes then getting rid of him?

He's managed a grand total of 3 clubs. Oldham for a season, Swindon for 2 and Salford for 4 months. Salford is obviously the 5 minute job you are referring to, not sure you can make much of a case for it being such a consistent thing as you are suggesting?

Keith Hills Tranmere record in all comps.
P W D L
40 20 10 10

Not too shabby! Apparently the players stopped playing for him after the PJT final. Don’t think the change in tactics helped.

All we have to do is find a manager with a 50% win record now. Lol!

Better luck in your next job Keith.
