So what he is saying is that after signing for tinpot Crawley he recognised we were tinpot and decided to be tinpot as well and quit.

Good to know.

Seems Lindsey has had 2 interviews at Gillingham. I just hoping we get some good cash for him and he doesn't rip out coaching team to bits.

Casey
He probably shouldn't have said anything at all.

"MATTY Etherington will not be in charge of Colchester United for their game at Accrington Stanley tomorrow - after it emerged he could have been in violation of his previous contract with Crawley Town. Etherington has been placed in temporary charge following Ben Garner's dismissal last weekend but Crawley contacted the U's today to say they believe their former boss is still bound by a contract with them until May, 2024.

As a result, it has emerged that Colchester would need to pay a buy-out fee against Crawley if Etherington takes to the dugout tomorrow. And the Reds subsequently turned down a request from U's chairman Robbie Cowling for Etherington to be in charge."

Mark Palios did an interview with Rovers podcast last night. While troubling on a number of aspects, it seems clear that Adkins is here to the immediate future.

Why? Does he have faith in Adkins? Is the club short of money?
Also, what do you think is the problem with the side? Do you think the players are good enough?

OK. I've seen part of the podcast.
He was talking about needing a good leader to pull 'Danzy' through. So, presumably that's Neil Danns, your AM. I suppose that makes sense if you're in mid table and can build for the future, but it does feel as though Tranmere are in a little bit of danger. There seems a pretty good chance that the managers at Grimsby and Forest Green could turn things around. I understand that Horseman probably only has 90 more minutes to turn things around, but you look at the clubs at the bottom, and a lot of them could be in false positions. Palios is saying that he doesn't need to rush, but you can't continue long on 2 points from every 3 matches.
Also, Palios says that he'd be appointing from a pool of losers. i don't know who's applied for the Tranmere job, but I don't think there's ever been such a good pool of potential managers to choose from.
OK, the Cowleys are out if he wants to develop Danns, but you'd think that Tranmere could attract quite a good manager / leader.

Just bring in Steve Evans ffs, I’m sick of all this waiting and I’m sick of being stuck in League 2 with a soft touch team. I’d sell my soul to satan to see us in the championship again and I think Steve Evans is the nearest thing to that. We’ve been a nice club for far too long now and it’s grating on me, on one should enjoy coming to VP and yet they do game after game.

I'm surprised you don't go for Joey Barton -- Certainly fire your team up .

Re Evans to Bradford. I believe you may have a walk out by all your female backroom staff if that happened. I never did find out the truth about what happened after Crawley played up there but I did hear the rumours.

Re Etherington. I've often thought most football contracts are probably not enforceable in employment law but demanding compensation 10 months after he quit seems to push even these wierd rules too far.

Got to agree that slagging off a previous employer in the press is not a good look and it's hardly surprising it has come back to bite him in the arse.

You appoint Steve 'Break his ******* legs' Evans then your club have (temporarily) sold their soul to the devil.

But he will probably get you promoted

Yes to the first two.
Think most Rovers fans thought the squad was good enough to stay up and after that opinions diverge. Luke Norris getting injured so soon after his comeback and Dennis being injured pre-season and not suiting playing in a front 3 are factors. Also losing 2 decent full-backs and not being able to replace with similar quality hasn’t helped.

I got the impression that Danns will get a chance if the manager above him goes on to better things but if the next boss gets the boot it won’t be Danns. Neither Jackson nor Dawes taking over from being assistant has worked.
I don’t think we’ve got the funds to attract a good manager and Palios has too much invokvement in the football side which would make contenders feel uncomfortable.
The troubling thing is he doesn’t seem to have leant from past mistakes. He didn’t look that well in the podcast and it would probably work best for everyone if he was able to find a suitable buyer and get out.

Is there any carrot in his management style? Doubt we’ve got sufficient funds for him or that he would tolerate Mark Palios’ hands on approach on the playing side.

You can do better. He's not always successful and when he is its usually at small time clubs where he can revel in being the snarling underdog.
I'd take Andy Woodman from Bromley over him if you want a bruiser for your manager.

I hear you but we’ve had those managers who should achieve here because they’ve achieved elsewhere. We’ve tried club legends. We’ve tried legends of the game and youth managers alike.

We just need a right horrible bastard to grab this club by it’s horns and there’s not many better bastards than the bastard himself.

Bradford fans should note that Danny Cowley was watching Oxford v us today.

Now it goes without saying that such a feast of champagne football would be likely to attract any lover of the game, but given that we’re off to Valley Parade to get knocked out of the FA Cup next week…well, we can all take 2 + 2 and get 5, right?

Don't Lincoln play Oxford next, too? Could be on their way back there.

It was starting to feel inevitable but it's always a shame when someone like that departs when they've done a lot for the club.

Really sad but it had to happen, we’re only going one way. Expecting the new man to be someone unexpected and probably underwhelming but I live in hope.

Shame for Hurst but his EFL record is shocking. I think he’s brought in some good players for a new manager to work with though.

Best manager since Buckley, lets hope we now don't go through another 10 before we find another successful one!

We do. He was also taking in a Charlton game last weekend as well, who we played last Tuesday. Either a coincidence or he's doing some opposition scouting for our Caretaker.

We've not started interviewing anyone yet.
