Would be a hammer blow. I understand him maybe wanting to go back north of the border, but to leave a promotion chasing L2 side for a struggling Scottish Premiership side feels like an odd move. Surely if you guide Morecambe to a top half/10/7 spot this season, that's a better achievement than keeping them in the top flight up there.

Although, if this doesn't scream Artell with a low budget, a patient(or lack of) owner and a young team to mould and improve, he'll never get another job in management.

For me if Derek did go it would be a very big loss ,he has always managed to work on the smallest budget and get the best out of all the players ,alot of fans don't like his style of play but it seems to get results. With the club still being up for sale there is no saying what money we would have to strengthen the team in January, that's 1 of the issues Derek has always had lack of funds .

Yes if Artell doesn't get that job when it's available he may aswell give up. He's abit of a cult hero at Morecombe aswell, they call him the Moose or something like that.

With SPL TV money currently worth around £2.1 million per club which is just under double what L2 clubs currently get from the EFL pool of money, it's clear Adams is getting a decent pay rise for jumping ship very much like Stephen Robinson did 2 years ago. Ross are in no financial trouble and there's always the chance of winning silverware and getting into Europe long term in Scotland which, I think, is much better than slumming it in England's fourth tier. Also knows the club too so you can see why he's doing it.

What's worth noting though is that Adams was on about having grand plans to take Morecambe to the Championship with new investment earlier in the season. So, reading between the lines, it seems that no new investment is forthcoming at the moment and Adams has lost patience.

Agree with the above that if Artell doesn't get this job he may as well sack off management for good. This is comfortably his best shot at a job since he was sacked by us.

I think it will be something to do with the ownership stuff, it's all gone quiet which isn't good. I'm guessing he's not been promised anything for January and then Ross County have knocked on the door, he's probably had enough of it all. The Championship stuff is typical Derek, take it with a pinch of salt and laugh.

Will always been a legend for what he's done for the club but to leave like this doesn't look great, especially after everyone's reaction to Robinson running back over the border.

Early doors but yeah Artell does make sense. I wonder if Coleman is tempted after what happened with the owner the other week? He's one of our all time leading goalscorers so it feels inevitable he'll manage us at some point.

You Crewe fans seem very keen on finding Artell a new job!

I thought that. Bit weird as I'm not sure we even know if he's that good as a manager and could he adapt to another club.

Only because I'm sick of him appearing on every EFL podcast and being linked to every single available L2 job. Been that way for the last 18 months.

Plus, whilst it did go sour for him at the Alex, he's still held in high regard. I just want to see what he does at another club. He does well and it raises questions about how things went sour with us. He flops and he'll slope off never to be heard from again.

It's more out of curiosity to see if he can do it elsewhere given he loves talking the talk and blaming the Crewe board for his eventual sacking here.

Stockport County.
I wonder what the data shows from the back end of October 2021 to the end of January 2022?
Seemed to say a lot in that article without actually saying anything of substance to me.

Big appointment for Stockwood and co this next one.

Grimsby need an experienced fire-fighter to get them out of this trouble. One who knows what it takes and can make them hard to beat and scrap their way to safety.

I'm starting to think that what they need to do is, in fact, hire Paul Hurst.

Whoever tries to “sell” grimsby to perspective managers must surely earn their corn. :P1:

What are the odds that Ross County go down, Adams is sacked come May and back at Morecambe for the start of 24/25.

Apparently Danny Cowley has been on talksport and said that the reason for turning down the Bradford job was not just related to geography. He also indicated that something didn’t fit or feel right.

My guess is, he met Ryan Sparks and thought ‘no way am I working for that knob’

The knob Sparks, the AWOL owner, the head of recruitment who thought Ash Taylor was the answer or the both massive and terrible squad he’d be taking over, take your pick.

There's a lot of clear positives with Artell but there's a lot of unknowns, I'll be fascinated to see how he gets on at a different club to Crewe. I'd be happy if he gets a job at a great club like Grimsby.

I’m still not convinced it’ll definitely be him, it’s being based on the bookies odds alone and they got Oxford & Lincoln badly wrong last week
