Sir Alex hardly ever called his players out publically.
But he did occasionally, however his time with Man U was a roller coaster of successes.
Troy Deeney does not have that luxury.

I well remember Brian Clough’s post match TV interview after Nottm Forest lost in League Cup Final.
He dragged a sheepish Trevor Francis along to interview to tell him, in front of the cameras, that he and his team mates had played absolutely pathetically awful. And Francis was made to apologise.
Trevor Francis was then a current England player. Afterwards I think that he and team’s performances did improve.

It would be madness to allow him to carry on at the club after that interview. John Sitton was more tactful than that.

And he'd just sell them getting someone better or a very good replacement in if he wanted.

Keane

Some famous examples of public falling outs.

Obviously Deeney isn't going to be able to do that.

And not so long ago as I say he was team-mate to these players so has Deeney always thought they were rubbish etc?

A legend with us for his goals and play but many did feel he certainly ruled the roost and whatever he said or wanted to do stood.

Sure a few managers lost their jobs because he and the other players didn't like them.

Morten Dahm Kjaergaard now 1/3 favourite. I’m not convinced he’s a real person though.
He's definitely the strike partner of Johann Porhallson from Championship Manager back in the early 00's.

We've already sacked Duncan Ferguson in July and Dave Horseman in December, can't see Vince wanting to sack a third manager this season already, especially after him only been in charge 6 games. He's on a 4 year deal apparently.

Big 'Ead's Forest side was a very different prospect. That team was made of big personalities chasing victory most weeks, we're talking about an FGR side full of individuals for whom the summer can't come quick enough. They're who need moulding into a coherent, united team, but that won't happen when each one is anxious of being the next one to be hung out to dry.

Those failing outs became public but they weren’t criticised to the media at the time.

Rumours gathering pace re Flynn/Hatswell getting sacked. His father has reportedly confirmed it.

Time to send in the clowns!

He does like to be honest but maybe too much and don’t think Troy quite knows how much he is ranting when getting going !

Players these don’t tend to react well to public criticism and he was a squad player himself weeks ago .
They don’t react well with the soft or any other approach though!! The players are a disgrace!

15th April 2023: Michael Flynn's Walsall lose to Crewe Alex
19th April 2023: Michael Flynn is sacked by Walsall

29th April 2023: Jody Morris' Swindon lose to Crewe Alex
1st May 2023: Jody Morris is sacked by Swindon

13th January 2024: Michael Flynn's Swindon lose to Crewe Alex
15th January 2024: Michael Flynn is sacked by Swindon.

So in less than a year, we've TWICE seen a Swindon manager sacked after losing to us and TWICE seen Michael Flynn sacked only days after losing to us. That's amazing.

I have said before that Hatswell was one of the biggest problems at Walsall. Flynn had and has his faults, but Hatswell completely turned the majority of the players against the management. Hopefully Flynn will learn from this and ditch Hatswell if and when he gets another chance to manage.

Gunning?
Jesus!

Yeah not sure he's going to have that kind of impact.

The Wayne Hatswell defensive mantra 'if in doubt, whack it into your own goal'. Not surprised our defence looks like its been organised by Chris McCausland.

Flynn is probably the most overrated manager in football, no idea how he gets jobs I suppose idiots like our CEO give him a chance, no doubt he’ll show up here once GA is sacked.

Every team I’ve watched under Flynn has been appalling, including in his spell as Newport manager when he team came to VP and refused to go beyond the half way line against us. Unfortunately we had Bowyer at the time so that was a classic!

2 sackings in 9 months directly after losing to us for Michael Flynn. So he visited us 5 times as a manager, won his first ever game in management at us but since then he's failed to beat 10 men despite dominating us, lost in the 96th minute both with Newport and then got sacked after two defeats to us with Walsall and Swindon. I bet he's sick of the sight of Gresty Road!

Never liked Flynn and I’m glad. One of those arsehole types (similarly to Artell really) but he didn’t even play nice football.

My take.

its a prelude to new ownership. Give it to Mad Gav so any new owner has the opportunity to choose their own man.

Whatever, our club is an utter shit show.

That made me laugh. No idea about Hatswell but a big fan of Chris McCausland. Being the self depricating bloke he is, he'd appreciate it.

Cheers Meadow, I thought I'd give Stevie Wonder a pass this time. Agree on what you say about CM, he's a very funny guy.

On Flynn, it must be a concern that his last 2 roles have started quite well and then spiralled off into awful runs that he can't get rid of. A tailFlynn if you will. His best spell was at Newport where his football appeared to be 'agricultural' (he blamed the pitch for that, probably fairly) at Walsall and us he tried to play more on the deck. It seems once he's been worked out, he has nothing other than plan A. In his recent interviews, he looked a shadow of the guy he was when he was first appointed.

I don't know much about Flynn as a manager, remember him more as a player.

On the surface he looks like all his managerial achievements centred around cup competitions where he gave some amazing memories to the fans. Not surprised that got him a move to Walsall.
Sadly for him in the more important bread and butter of the league, not so much.

Oh and I had heard about the farmers field of a pitch. Agricultural football indeed.

4-7 in the cup against Aldershot will live long in the memories. Out of all of them in the first round for us!

That was so he could concentrate on getting you out of this division!

Always insisted since Flynn left Newport I reckon he’s one of those that will only do well with them at this level. The one thing he does deserve credit for is getting them promoted.

I imagine that’s him done in the EFL unless he goes back to Wales eventually.
