During his time here Westley was a clear improvement on McGhee, although then again so would anyone who has watched a game of football before.

His teams work hard and are fairly organised but their main tactics are set piece routines and gamesmanship, both of which can only take you so far. His team selections, substitutions and transfer policy are frequently a nonsensical mess. We played very direct under him but he seemed to like players who didn't fit in under that style.

Westley's recent managerial record is pretty terrible. He also seems quite a deluded sort of bloke. Not sure why Stevenage think this is a good move. Good news for Morecambe.
No one else seems to get on with their lovely chairman..

Coughlan seems a weird choice by Mansfield, or rather not an obvious choice.

Gassy and the Rovers lot will be able to comment more on him but from what I've read this season it seems pretty turgid, mind-numbing stuff.

That's Stevenage safe then ffs and bad news for Morecambe and Grimsby. I've left off Carlisle and Oldham not because they're in a false position or anything but only 'cos I reckon both will be fine.

Going to be interesting when Stevenage visit us on the 29th, there are now seats right behind both dug outs. Imagine the seats behind the away bench will be popular!

I would have thought it’s great news for Morecambe and Grimsby! He managed to leave us 11 points from safety and make our current style of football look positively Brazilian!

Haha. I sure hope you're right but I can see them getting enough dour nil nils and sneaky 1-0 wins now he's there. Hope I'm wrong of course.

Any danger of Grimsby appointing anyone? How many days is it now since Jolley was sacked?!

Not a chance, performances have improved but still haven't won or scored so Fenty happy to let Limbrick stay in charge because it's the cheap option.

Even if it wasn't no one wants to come here because we have no money and Fenty does not want to put any more in. Takeover not going to happen, reckon he is hoping it will be impossible to go down this season so we can limp along till May and see what happens.

We had a couple of wins early on when he appeared to organise us but it soon became a poisonous atmosphere and ended with eight successive defeats. Talked a brilliant game though! Ironically, he signed players like O’Brien and Demetriou who are mainstays of the side now.

I know right, appointing the same manager every time they get into a spot of bother. So tinpot.

MA is a million times the manager that Westley is.

And MA isn't very good.

We get the honour of witnessing Stevenage Westley ball again for first time again on Saturday. I can hardly wait.

Sat watching Saturday's game thinking why on earth did Derek Adams take the Morecambe job? They were one of the poorest sides I've seen. He'd have probably got the Carlisle job a week later.

I thought Carlisle were worse than Morecambe, but totally agree it seemed a really odd decision. If they go down, how does a manager with two relegations in a row get another job?

Always a gamble for Morecambe losing Bentley as he had a way of shithousing enough points every year... (plenty of draws!)

Going away from that even with a bigger name may well prove costly. I think squad wise Morecambe fans from their forum after our game felt this was one of their better squads on paper in recent years.

Bristol Rovers have given Mansfield permission to talk to Coughlan. They turned down two approaches last week according to a statement on their website.

Real strange one this, even if he's wanting to move closer to home or unhappy that he won't get money in January at Rovers you'd surely stay until May see if you can get into the play offs and potentially the Championship and see what options you have then at a higher level, especially considering he would be leaving a big club in Rovers compared to Mansfield.

Lack of ambition you'd have to say on his part to willingly drop from a top end fairly big League One outfit currently to a side struggling in League Two regardless of money they've spent (as County proved last year doesn't always translate to success)

He's the next John Sheridan, and we all know how well that worked out for him, how are Chesterfield doing again?

Heading to the NLN at the moment! A warning to any club at what can happen if you do drop through even if considered big at this level.

A warning to any manager thinking of dropping down a division for a supposedly bigger budget / shorter commute. This time last year Sheridan was tearing up this division, be surprised if he gets a chance to manage at FL level anytime soon now.

Apparently it’s one of the reason radford took so long to make the decision to a) get rid of dempster (though it was a mistake) and b) replace him with someone decent and proven.

We’ve got 2 rivals who are non-league clubs 14 miles away - it won’t have gone unnoticed what’s gone on there.

He’ll be given money in January - I dare say to strengthen midfield

He took a long time, I just knew Adam would dig out a reason and explanation why JR took so long.

Well that was a reason given by a member of the board, so it’s more a case of copying what they’ve said.

Though if you wish to believe I made it up to amuse yourself, be my guest.

We must believe everything the chairman and board say to the media or fans. It's always the truth, and nothing but the truth lol.

I know you will defend the Chairman on almost anything but since he moved to his family to Portugal he's clearly taken the eye off the ball somewhat, don't you agree?

I not suggesting like other Stags fans have that they have lost a little interest, but the delay was one inexcusable right?

It's the right decision, him made a poor appointment in the first place , that was obvious to the supporters months ago. Maybe he just felt personally guilty for the appointment and wanted to give Dempster every single chance going to make it a good one

There was no doubting that it was a wrong decision, many fans thought it at the time and were unfortunately proven right - they appeared to give him as long as possible to save face in the hope that things would turn around.

Also, given the farcical goings on with owners at both notts county and chesterfield leading to relegation to the bananarama league for both sides I think both he and the fans were a little nervous of following such unfortunate footsteps.

Hopefully lessons have been learnt and we can move on.

hmmm, so that leaves Bristol Rovers, 4th in League 1 without a manager. I wonder if Wellens or Duff might be on their shopping list of new managers? Although Tisdale seems the most sensible appointment for them I guess.

They not be paying compo for anyone. Tisdale could be a good shout, an internal appointment wouldn't surprise me.
