Mansfield a bigger budget than us?

We don't have much money, but I doubt they have players on £4k a week.

Coughlan has cocked this right up for himself, and he knows it. Cheerio Graham! Enjoy L2.

Lol you must be a bit ignorant on the matter if you don’t think Mansfield will dish 4K p/w on a player:lol:

I was going to post about Maynard. He must be on around that. I think the Radford's are pretty generous with their budgets. And Carolyn loves to flaunt how rich she has via social media.

Think she flaunts her assets ,but not necessarily her wealth :ds:

Tbh, he wouldn’t have been my choice of manager. Mansfield do seem to struggle when it comes to managerial appointments.

If this one turns out to be a dud, where do they go from there.

I think she is rougher than a sandpaper factory but each to their own. I'm sure the general population of Mansfield don't have staircases that are quite as grand as Mrs Radford, or drive about in 100k rollers! (the car, not the thing old women have in their hair!)

Maybe you do on Maynard, but there isn’t a chance in hell your budget is bigger than ours.

One source states you pay an average of £1700 p/w, chad newspaper states £1490 p/w. Our wage budget is about £5.4m I believe

I never suggested it’s bigger, but we’ve likely had a top three budget in L2 for three seasons now, and we are not shy about a spending a six figure fee either.

Btw those figures are low, Morecambe (usually lowest budget in the division) average is over £1100.

If you were behind her going up one of those staircases, you’d have a sneaky peak!

There was no doubting that it was a wrong decision, many fans thought it at the time and were unfortunately proven right - they appeared to give him as long as possible to save face in the hope that things would turn around.

Also, given the farcical goings on with owners at both notts county and chesterfield leading to relegation to the bananarama league for both sides I think both he and the fans were a little nervous of following such unfortunate footsteps.

Hopefully lessons have been learnt and we can move on.

He's a good guy Mr Radford, so always going to be a little too nice and give him a few extra months.

Totally agree about chopping and changing managers too often, cost us our place in the football league and each sacking costs a lot of money. I hear £1,000,000 or there or thereabouts

Why would someone from Mansfield think we’re bigger than Bristol rovers, were not - not that I care either way.

I was just under the impression he believed he couldn’t get you any higher and we happen to be closer to home (by a long way)

Was more in response to the comment from shoddycollins “A warning to any manager thinking of dropping down a division for a supposedly bigger budget”, rather than to yourselves directly - hence I said ‘no way do Mansfield have a bigger budget’.

I am very curious to see how he will do with you. GC certainly has an eye for a player, although we don’t know if that’s our head scout or GC. It took him a while to find his right formation (this season) with us. Last season it was all about defending and basically having JCH to save the day (I guess Maynard will be your equivalent?).

The 3-5-2 this season really came from fan suggestion with the players we had and so many injuries. It worked and the football was a bit better. But this season he’s only been able to win with 3-5-2 or 4-5-1, there is no real back up plan - but our squad is decent so he hasn’t really needed one tbh. One thing you can count on is having a strong defence, it’s nice watching a game where you have to sit back for the last 10 minutes, knowing they won’t really get near you.

I have no idea about your squad apart from Maynard, do you have a big striker? He quite likes his traditional, target man and smaller striker up top. Even without the target man, there will be long balls up to the strikers - as Plymouth probably saw tonight

We have a large budget, but it’s still usually over-stated on here by rival fans.

We had the best defence in the league last season under Flitcroft with a three CB / wingback system - it’s entirely been destroyed by Dempster mind, but we still have the same players. In terms of strikers we signed Andy Cook in the summer and he is superb at holding up or bringing the ball down, Danny Rose is good at that too but doesn’t have the height of Cook.

We have absolute quality throughout the entire squad, Including a few who only made the team of the year last season, it’s why fans on here still don’t fancy playing us, they just can’t compute how shite we are with our squad.

Sounds like an easy job to mess up then haha.

In theory GC should do well, but he is still very inexperienced - which people forget. He has exactly one year of management experience and hasn’t completed a full season yet..

Any ideas/numbers being spoken about in terms of compensation from your end?

Overstated how? If you don't have a top 5 budget alongside Plymouth, Bradford and Swindon, I'd be shocked. You signed Cook and paid him hansomely. You beat off probably a few interested suitors to get Maynard. You've paid fees for 3 of your squad. The wages you pay to Maynard, Mellis, Bishop, Khan, Pearce, Cook will be above the L2 average I reckon. Probably a few more like that as well.

I think everyone's estimations of your budget are spot on.

Our budget is almost certainly top five, and I don’t disagree with any of that so that was wasted time! but it’s still regularly overstated on here, I mean it was only a few posts ago somebody suggested ours is bigger than Bristol Rovers you know

This was typically happening last year when we were doing well, you must have been oblivious to it.

£5.4m!? Wut?
Looking back into that, that’s the total wage budget, not playing budget. So probably shed about £1m off.

But yeah to every £100 coming in, we pay £97 on wages within the club. We’re lucky-ish that our owners write the debt off that they’ve created, but how long for? They’re in talks with 3 interested parties.

But yeah, it ain’t good.

How’s that work with FFP?

Yeah. Thought it was a max of 50% of turnover in L1.

Our turnover is likely increased via sponsorship deals to facilitate our spending, I mean everything has ‘One Call Insurance’ or ‘OCL Solicitors ‘ on it.

% is higher in L1 I think.
