If it’s true about Holloway then we should push the boat out and give him whatever he wants to come here. Would be a fantastic appointment in my opinion but I expect it to be bollocks unfortunately.

Holloway very keen to come here apparently.
Really hope this happens but I still can’t see it.

I think he's attracted by the 70% Brexit vote in Gy and Clee, and Boris's promise that on 1st Feb the docks will be filled with trawlers...

43 moves. Blimey. Yes, that interview says he wants it. Do you want him?

Yes because even if it turns out to be a failure it would show the board still do have some ambition and willing to put their hand in their pockets.

He might have been out of management for 18 months but he is a successful manager manager mostly at championship level and never this low. Plus he would bring some publicity.

Doesn't matter who we appoint in the long run, we are doomed to failure under this board. The entire club is a toxic mess from the very top down to the fanbase and the 4-4-fucking-2 brigade. I don't think it has ever been as bad as it is right now. Holloway would at least elevate the mood a bit. Despite what he's said, I really can't see it happening unless it's in combination with a takeover. Fenty will be desperate to appoint Limbrick while there's reduced chance of us going down.

I'd love to see it. As Frealaf said, he'd bring publicity and act as a distraction, the appointment alone would do everyone a bit of good at least for this season. But in terms of on the pitch progression, nothing will change and we'll be back here again this time next year.

I'm not sure why Holloway would even fancy it?

Agreed Clarkey, Fenty still needs replacing as we are just stagnant with him at the helm, however if they appoint Holloway it shows a bit of ambition as he won't be cheap.

If Limbrick is appointed now after Holloway says he wants to come then it just goes to show the board are not interested in spending anymore money other than the bare mininum possible which just leaves us where we are, doing what ever we can to avoid relegation each season with no hope of progress.

Out of management for 18 months and no other offers, sees it as a chance to prove he still has it. If he moves on from us he will have to be successful. Can be thankful he improved us if that happens, if it doesn't work out then he obviously no longer any good and what have we lost? Can't get much worse!

Ah yeah, good for you I just thought Holloway might hold on for a better job to come up for him, which surely there would be at some point.

Holloway would be a stunning appointment tbf.

Definitely worth lumping on Grimsby to improve by FOUR places by the end of this decade instead of just two.

It's seemingly happening, could be announced as early as tomorrow

The interest I have in this club is at an all time low at the minute but this would be one of the few appointments that would completely change my mood back around. When we played Bristol Rovers in the playoffs, Holloway was on the radio and he was very complimentary of us that day. It was clearly just politeness but a part of me hoped that one day we could see him manage us. Always been a big fan of the guy and I won't be alone in having my interest and attention turned right back around.

I still wonder if this has anything to do with a takeover but if it is all to do with the current board then fair play. Fenty sure knows how to please a mob, he appointed Jolley purely down to outcries on Twitter apparently! I still very much doubt he will last 12 months but it's good for now at least.

It will be a very interesting few days now. I'll still only believe it when I see it. A couple of quid on Limbrick getting the job would still be a very good bet right down to the wire..

It’s always been an ambition of Holloway’s to manage Grimsby Town.

He was quoted years ago saying
“when I finally retire, I will not be able to look my family in the eye unless I’ve had a crack at the Grimsby job. I will wait and wait for it, hopefully the phone call will come one day.”

He certainly was a good motivator, attracted players and brought in the fans. I did think that his tactical responses, such as substitutions, during a game were not the best. But that was earlier in his career, and he may well have improved on this.

A good bold choice. But if at any point his says poppycock you know he’s off.

Blimy that’s an Enormous step down for Holloway, but fair play to him for wanting to give something different a go.

Great coup for Grimsby

Big coup for you boys, fair play.

Just one thing, why has he bought shares for a place on the board? Is that healthy for a manager to be in that position?

Interesting, maybe my jest above the Brexit love-in has something in it. Fenty is a Tory councillor, there are going to be pork-barrel handouts for the new northern Tory seats, there is alot of derelict land at the docks end of Freeman Street (which used to be the main retail street) and GTFC need a new stadium...(and have done for about 40 years)

Yeah I thought that. This is a huge gamble.

Either he does well and earns us some dosh in the process or he’s a failure and shit hits the fan when he wants out. No indication of how much he’s bought either, or length of contract.
