our ex player Ian Morris has left Shelbourne who he got promoted twice. Wonder if he's headed back to England to take over from Coxy.
A snippet of Barton’s apology:The BBC report that Barton apologised fir his remarks.
Joey Barton: Bristol Rovers manager apologises for Holocaust analogy
Bristol Rovers manager Joey Barton apologises for comparing his side's performance against Newport on Saturday to "a Holocaust".www.bbc.co.uk
But of course that isn't an apology, its 'I'm sorry if you were offended'.
He can't even get that right. What a tool
Subtext: Damn your modern Woke world, with all your fancy stuff where you can't compare losing a game to genocide."For me, it was a poor analogy to use in the context of the modern-day world we live in, and it won't happen again."
Probably wasn’t a good analogy to use in the old days either tbf.
He hasn't yet mentioned Bristol City sending secret agents to sabotage their team.To be fair to Barton, he was probably running out of original ways to describe a shit performance, so he thought up one he (or any other manager) definitely hadn’t used yet. Will be interesting to see what he describes their next performance as.
Well let's see but honestly that'd be a seriously underwhelming career move for him. And to be honest I think I'd lose a bit of respect for him if he goes there.
I don't think he actually planned on going to the highest bidder but he's clearly rattled by the squad depth we have (which he actually signed) and the away form (which hasn't been great for a long time). So it's a bit kind of throw the toys out of the pram move. And DC isn't bigger than the club if he's using this as an opportunity to get more cash, sort it or I'm off type of thing. Dumps us for a bigger club in a higher league, absolutely, shake hands good luck, hugs all round but Stockport, really? He'd of got a free pass if he went to Tranmere before they got Mellon, but yeah I'd feel the same if he dumps us for Stockport, they clearly have a bigger budget and arguably better squad of players to work with right now but he's wanted to be an EFL manager all his career, does he really wanna chuck it and try to do it all over again? That league is rough as fuck and they're not the only big spenders down there, 12 months down the line he could be in the dole queue again.
I think you're talking fine margins here. What's not up for debate is that if he sees the season out then someone much bigger than Stockport will come calling. I'm disappointed with him.Regarding the Challinor rumour, I think location is a big factor. His family is still based on the Wirral and the 360 mile round trip to the North East can't be appealing. I also think he would be successful at Stockport, despite the pressure of the job. He also had a big budget and a lot of pressure at Fylde, to a slightly lesser degree.
I also think Stockport are a slightly bigger club than Hartlepool, with more potential, which must be appealing to him.
And a very expectant fan base. Most of them expected to win the league last season and same expectation this season. The ownership and some of the fan base talking about a 5 year plan of championship football and 20k seat upgrades to edgeley park are all a bit Salford for a club that’s spent several years in regional football but what do I know.Both.
Very true. When we were in it we were a scalp but there weren't that many ex league clubs. Despite what many believed we did not throw money at it. We had a lot of players signed on Bosman transfers who had experience of that league but our financial records show that the wages were not huge. £1•5m average per season split between 30+ players and 5 coaching staff is not big wages with 5,000+ crowds. We spent way less than £100,000 on transfer fees in 3 seasons. Most of our losses went on infrastructure. And a very expectant fan base. Not sure why they got rid of Gannon last season tbf. What I am sure of is getting out of that league seems to be getting harder for a traditional ex-league club. Just looking at some of the clubs down there the budgets of many will be greater than a lot of clubs in our league. Only 2 spots to come up means a lot of disappointment.
Bad news for us... We were hoping that Scunny wouldn't sack Cox and that as a result we would at least only be fighting to escape one relegation place. Now we have two to avoid.Cox at Scunny has gone.
Crawley always seems a funny one and Darryl Clarke mentioned it in his pre match interview that your very streaky...There are a few rumblings at Crawley but not enough for Yems to be seriously worried. Still the madder fringe calling for change.
Personally I believe he, or any other manager here, is hogtied by our distinct lack of funds. Our owner has put plenty of money in but it's only enough to get our heads above water.
The leaking goals could be put down to the injuries we have at centre back. I believe we are back down to one fit one again.
I do think a change of tack is needed. We are desperate for that extra bit if quality, pace and power in midfield but where can we get it from?
