Credit to Scunthorpe for doing it properly by firing the assistant manager as well.

We did it half arsed, we Skelton stay to be Millen’s assistant, after being assistant to two failed managers previously.

I don't think he actually planned on going to the highest bidder but he's clearly rattled by the squad depth we have (which he actually signed) and the away form (which hasn't been great for a long time). So it's a bit kind of throw the toys out of the pram move. And DC isn't bigger than the club if he's using this as an opportunity to get more cash, sort it or I'm off type of thing. Dumps us for a bigger club in a higher league, absolutely, shake hands good luck, hugs all round but Stockport, really?

Personally I'm disturbed by his radio interview. The only thing that might stand in his way is Raj's obstinate nature. He might demand silly money unless there's a release clause in that rather worthless looking new deal he signed.
If Challinor wants to go,don’t stand in his way & make him stay, otherwise we’ll be left with a unhappy manager on our hands.
As most people have said,I expected him to stay at Pools for a while ,then move up the pyramid, not down it.
Theres more to life than money & dropping back down to that shithole would be a massive gamble for him.

Nigel Adkins and Keith Hill currently the bookies favourites.

Adkins is the stuff of dreams, a club hero. Unfortunately, he's far too smart to return here. He knows he won't be able to accomplish anything close to what he accomplished before, would be stupid to risk damaging his legacy at the club.

Would love Keith Hill but think he knows better. Seem to recall him turning down clubs recently because of small budgets, don't think he'd be happy with our tiny budget and transfer embargo. However, this club be the perfect low expectation job which could help him get his reputation back after it took a hammering at Bolton and Tranmere.

Dom Scurr (Hartlepool Mail journo) is reporting that the HUFC players have today been informed that Dave Challinor is off to Stockport.

Good luck to him.
He got us where we wanted to be.
So lets move on and concentrate on staying in this division.

Dave.......Who.

Think Sweens could do a decent job, At least steady the ship.

Raj needs to spend some of this compo on an EFL experienced manager.

I swear if we get even close to people like Jolley or Holloway..:sna:

Has Josh Wright got a club yet?
Oh god don't say things like that. Yems has stated he would have liked to keep him!

Saying that I did hear he had joined someone. Can't remember who though and it was below conference south level. No actual proof of that. Just got told it.

Am rather surprised he would take a downward step. Yes Stockport have a bigger budget but there’s a few other clubs down there throwing money around and with that you are instantly on a short leash. The only thing I can think of is he knows something others don’t in relation to Hartlepools owner but am only speculating there.

With Scunny have to admit my first concern was will they try and approach us for our assistant Andy Crosby but would be a huge risk going there for a first managerial job especially with some of their issues behind the scenes.

The nature of football aside, for Challinor it would essentially be an easier commute and most likely more money. No brainer in the real world, but agree he needs to hit the ground running at Stockport.

This news also explains why Hartlepool were as bad as they were against us on Saturday.

Proper kick in the guts that, had his head turned by the arms race down in the National League.

I can't see an obvious fit for them right away, maybe Keith Hill if he can prize himself away from the North West.

Bigger question is which players is he going to take with him? Would be gutting for Pools to lose Sterry.

This means we will now have to compete for managers with Hartlepool.

They can either join a club on the up that is managed correctly or a club going down with a lunatic in charge. I wonder which one they might choose.

Stockport County.
One or two on here skirting over the Japan factor. We're huge over there. Google it. You win a few games here and you'll never have to buy an Asahi in Tokyo again.

Stockport are gonna have to pay a fair wack for Chally seeing as he only just signed a 3 year deal? Crazy for a non-league team.

Genuinely a bit gutted for the Hartlepool fans to be honest. They had waited ages for the right manager and he hasn't even left them for a higher division, he's gone backwards back into the mud of the national league.

Bizarre decision. I don't care how much potential Stockport may have. Wrexham have had 'potential' for the last 15 years.
