A mental appointment but it wouldn’t be the first mental appointment that worked out

Some Rovers fans were hoping we’d have done this. Coleman was at PP yesterday presumably scoring for the Gills visit at the end of the month.

It will be interesting to see how it goes, Coleman’s spells with Rochdale and Southport were not the success that the two Accrington stints were.

Gillingham owner definitely reads Twitter doesn't he?

These Yanks, pumping money up in left, right and centre. Not got a clue what they're doing. Just rolling the dice over and over.

It may work tbf. This division is there for the taking.

Surely Coleman will need a personal oxygen tent to work this far South? Very sorry for Bonner wanted his next appointment after us to work out for him.

For me the best fit for Coleman may have been barrow had the job come up but it seems a strange choice for the position.

He seemed more likely at a struggler as a good old hand to get them through it but he has nothing to lose at gillingham really

Didn't have Bonner to Coleman on my bingo card.

Must be weird being Gillingham.

Take out the first five games and we’d be rock bottom of the league. We need someone who is going to give our shower of shite players a kick up the arse and stop us falling in to a relegation fight.

Forget promotion, we need a few nasty 1-0 wins. Perhaps Coleman is the right man, perhaps he isn’t. We shall see. Something needed to be done though.

I thought Coleman's Accrington teams played some good attacking football. Maybe that changed in recent years, I hadn't been playing close attention lately.

No. His dismissal was not down to football reasons.
I wasn't aware of this. Obviously his dismissal was surprising, and given what's followed, dumb, as was not immediately giving the job to Scott Lindsay.

Was it a personality clash with someone, or a disciplinary concern? (I'm being as vague as possible in the hope that will enable you to answer).

It was both of the things you mention, but if the rumours are correct it wasn’t our owners who sacked him. Scally was acting CEO at the time and Kenny Jackett was DOF. Both have since left the club.

I agree with you about Scott Lindsey, apparently a deal with him was agreed but then we decided we didn’t want to pay the compensation. A daft decision in retrospect.

Clemence should be sacked tonight. I'm not one to call for change unless things are really desperate given who we are (as in huge chance of getting relegated), but he isn't turning this around. The only hope we have of staying up there being two worse teams than us.

Thats a bit harsh based on today (Obviously its not). I thought you played very well and really went for it as opposed to coming for a draw.

That'll be him done you suspect. Seems like a nice guy, but clearly not cut out for management. Maybe he resurfaces as a coach or assistant somewhere.

Curious to see who they get in now, it's not that attractive a job given you have to drive a 200 mile round trip every home game.

Feel a bit for him, started off well and in the immediate aftermath of the Chelsea game had some rotten luck with injuries. It was at that point our form nosedived to where we are now and once key players returned we could never rediscover our early season form which would have had us sitting around mid table with no real concerns. We are sliding off a cliff at the moment so something needed to be done.

It doesn't seem like he's got what is needed to be a coach or manager at this level, but has least got a great coaching CV to fall back on if he wanted to continue as an assistant higher up the pyramid. I wish him well.

Give it a couple of weeks and Ian Evatt might be available…

I think you’ll be safe with that. There’s currently 8 points between you and Morecambe who don’t have any games in hand. Then you have other nosediving clubs between Barrow and the relegation spaces, all of whom will need to turn around their form in order to get past you. I can’t see that happening.

Paul Simpson would be a decent shout for Barrow.

You can't afford anyone good.

Do you think he would come to us after being with the biggest club in the North ? Or are you just teasing…….you have got me all excited now at the thought…..we will move mountains to make it happen I guess.

Paul Simpson is a realistic option for Barrow.
Experienced, NW based, knowledgeable,
works well with a low budget.
Wouldn't be the biggest surprise if he got the job at Holker Street.

I think it was only us he was ever arsed about managing.
