Wilder might be an option for you? Didnt work at Boro obviously but i still think hes a decent manager overall. Apart from that Boro spell hes done good jobs at all his previous clubs. Although he could just be past it now as his final season at Sheffield United was poor (was in the premier league though)

Probably no interest in managing us id have thought as we dont have a decent budget but you might. I agree though of the "championship calibre" managers available, Critchley i think will be the one a lot will covet. I hope we go for him personally.
Not sure Wilder takes the job here mate to be honest, I'd love him to do so but we don't have money to spend either.

Doubtful but find it odd when they point the finger at the manager yet have caused some issues within the squad with wages being late etc

Jones officially gone now. Big Mick in charge for the game on Saturday.

Gary Sweet says we will take the time afforded to us by the World Cup break to recruit a new manager. Sounds like a thorough process although hope we don’t take too long with it. The break would also be an ideal opportunity for a new manager to get to know the players and get on the training pitch with them as well as prepare for the upcoming transfer window
Wonder how long Jones and/or/if 2020 have known hed be off. Been a bit spikey for a while with a def change in attitude. Odd 2020 let him take Stoke. Maybe hes taken plenty of games knowing.

Anyway sincere good luck to them all. Theyve bitten off a lot there. But thats opportunity.

Now lets build bigger and better.

Definitely won’t write him off just because his last job was Watford but question if he would change his style. Not sure if totally accurate but my impression of him is he wants to be that possession based side who dominate the ball. Simply don’t think we have the players for that style at this level.

Big shoes to fill and will he have to win over quickly or won’t the connection to us matter as it was only a few weeks ?

Just as well we don’t play you for a while though !

Subjectively.

It matters. He starts with that stain that has to be washed away, so its not on an even footing. But its gonna be a back of the mind thing rather than front foot. It is with me and im Old Scool about as bad as it gets. Im a bit - well actually quite a lot - pissy about it internally.....Hey. We took Matty Spring and look at that goal.

I didn't really care for Jones after the way he first left and then, after the shock return and he got his feet under the desk, got results - with the huge advantage of lockdown no fan pressure - he went back to his ego driven, chest thumping, badge grabbing, end of game celebrations pushing himself in front and centre loving the personal adulation a little too much.

However he was damn good and committed. Id have liked to see him see out this season and see what we did. But the change is probably right timing for both Jones and Luton. Hes probably close to taking it as far as he could here and a good opportunity popped up and had obv been bubbling for a while. Cheerio, all the best and thanks.

Whoever came in had their work cut out. Rob Edwards a touch more. Hello. Welcome. Go get em. COYRRH

It will ultimately only matter if we don’t get results. If we play poorly and start falling down the league then people are going to suddenly care a whole lot about the Watford connection. Early on he may not have much rope to play with so to speak and I do worry about that as the first few games after the break look really tough on paper

I think it’s a good as an appointment as we were likely to expect. I think I’d have personally preferred Critchley still, mainly because he showed last season he could keep a small budget team in this league pretty comfortably whereas Edwards whilst having a good promotion with FGR to his name has I believe only been involved in decent money projects when compared to the level (at least that’s my view of it) from that and Watford. Both teams you’d “expect” to do well given the quality they have compared to the league at the time. Maybe that’s slightly unfair on his time at FGR though

Slightly concerned as above about him being a bit possession based. Not sure if that will suit what we currently have. I think we could perhaps see early results not be favourable, if he wants to go down that possession route then fine - and to be fair it’s a natural next step to go from a pressing out of possession front footed team, to a keeping possession team really as there is likely a ceiling on what we do now - but it will take a while to bed in. If we back him and allow that to happen we might have the ability to ascend higher but it’s a risk imo

He is definitely a 3 at the back with wingbacks man.

Does that suit your squad ?

Least Edward will have some idea of who he has to work with and a say in which new players might come in .

He worked well with 2 big strong lads up front at Forest Green for example.

TBF the guy only lost 3 games - Bilic has lost more .

Just Mr Pozzo didn’t like Edwards as he spoke out against the Director of football who left then got reinstated .

He talks a good talk. No 'you knows' etc. Moved up a couple of places already Articulate, clearly intelligent, a thinker that seems grounded but with passion and ambition.

Yep that’s what we do and the 2 big men up front is clearly also in our ballpark so those things are encouraging

Chris Turner was well respected in his spells as player and manager at Cambridge and Posh.
Rafa less so on Merseyside.

What the hell is going on? They wanted Yaya Toure, he said no, so they've gone for Kolo?

Don't think it was that dramatic. They asked Yaya if he was interested in the job, he said no. Kolo came out of nowhere, don't know if he applied, we picked him out, or Yaya maybe said, I don't want to go for the job, but my brother might.

The more significant foul up is the fact that they've picked him over Neil Critchley. He was on the shortlist, was interviewed and they've passed him up for some first team coach with no managerial experience, I assume just because he's a 'big name'. Shambolic doesn't even do it justice.
