Would he be welcomed back at Blackpool or has his name been muddied now.
They called him all sorts when he left but he's the best manager they could attract. Their owner seems a petty wanker though so probably wouldn't go back in for him.

West Brom could do worse.

It looks like Hull may appoint Rosenior - I'm really interested to see how he gets on. I thought he was doing a good job before the rug was pulled from under him and it's not like we've improved. I personally think we look a lot worse, but definitely a manager with ideals that could make life difficult.

Corberan to West Brom is an interesting one. Thing he made a bit of an error in going to Olympiakos, their owners and behind the scenes stuff isn’t great and being the biggest side in Greece if you don’t win then you’re out, so his star perhaps somewhat fallen a bit but he was so impressive for Huddersfield last season. Tactically he was so spot on most of the time.

Not sure on Corberan. He was awful the season before last but seemed to manage to grind out clean sheets regularly last season with a poor squad. Hard to judge him.

Jones been given permission to speak to Southampton apparently.

Bound to happen eventually with what a great job he has done. Not sure if it’s the right move for him personally but money talks ultimately

Not sure you can call it chasing the money when it's a chance to manage in the Prem though. Southampton are a decent club.

Critchley could be a solid replacement.

Hes always gonna go, even if it isnt now. Ive forgiven (ish) his first departure style and seems its being done right this time. Lets be fair, hes earned a shot, done brilliant for us despite my not rewarming to him. You dont relax and settle around knowing thats in their dna.

So the reason of my post...... Whos next. You presume he will clear out the coaching staff and cherry pick his team, so the likes of Chris Cohen, who may or may not be ready? I like the Crichtley idea. The right sort of fit. Contenders.

Surely there are managers out there with more Premier league experience than Nathan Jones who failed at Stoke?

Probably have to contain his emotions a bit with bigger egos at Southampton but might have learned his lesson from what happened at Stoke.

Don’t begrudge him going there this time, seems to have done it the “right” way and whereas last time it felt too soon this time it doesn’t. Sad as with him I could see us genuinely being promotion challengers against all odds and without him, well…probably not but that’s the way it goes. Hope he gets a good send off tomorrow up at Stoke from those who go, think it’s weird he’s doing the game even though it looks all but announced he’s going but at least it’s a goodbye off sorts which I think he deserves. Would leave a bad taste for me if such a great era ended on a sour note.

Interesting appointment from the Southampton point of view. They are taking a big risk I think given what happened at Stoke and unproven at the elite leve. Can’t be many British managers who have got a premier league job not having got there side promoted to it. Potter of course being the only one I can immediately think of but he’d had European experience not a pure EFL CV. Going to need to have a strong team around him

Bit odd him doing Stoke game still. Makes you think its not quite a done deal. Maybe 2020 suspect he wont enjoy the idea of less control and influence and think thats more important than the cash and opportunity for now. Either way we will know by his reaction tomorrow.

Id say it fires him up even more to go and get a win there. Be a nice send off.

I could see this coming to be honest. He has become increasingly whiney in interviews and has occasionally singled out supporters. Came in for a lot of criticism after the Watford game too. There's also a telling interview with Pelly after the Sunderland game saying that the manager was looking at "bigger and better things".

I hope he doesn't go, but clearly he likes living on the south coast. People will look at the Stoke fiasco as qualification that he couldn't handle bigger jobs than Luton - the fact is every manager before and since, apart from Pulis, struggled there. Since Mark Hughes left in 2018, they've had eight managers. In the same timeframe, Luton have had two (Jones & Jones). They had instrinsic problems with their playing staff.

Will he have the same level of autonomy at Southampton? Absolutely not. He certainly will not have such a supportive board of directors - seems as if they're a club one relegation away from a bit of a financial crisis.

Hopefully the compensation will do a lot of things for us - it was £1M when he went to Stoke and still has five years to run on his current deal. Hoping it'll be around the £3M mark.

Maybe Stoke failed Jones.
There is that also, I think in general Luton supports where astonished at the shite state Stoke were in than lack of merit from Jones and questioned why he would go to Stoke in the position and with such bad state of affairs.

So really, Southampton are not in a too dissimilar position?

Deal done apparently according to some journo types on Twitter who are usually reliable.

4 million compensation for us which seems a decent enough fee to me.

Jones is in the stands at Southampton.

Be rather awkward if he didn’t get the job now !

Reckon Pearson be gone if we lose Saturday.

Hope we go for Critchley but wouldn’t be surprised if Luton have already made a move for him.

Its all quite exciting.

I cant help but think 2020 are a bit too nice saying we wont take anyone midseason whos employed. We all know we in that boat all on our lonesome.

Wilder might be an option for you? Didnt work at Boro obviously but i still think hes a decent manager overall. Apart from that Boro spell hes done good jobs at all his previous clubs. Although he could just be past it now as his final season at Sheffield United was poor (was in the premier league though)

Probably no interest in managing us id have thought as we dont have a decent budget but you might. I agree though of the "championship calibre" managers available, Critchley i think will be the one a lot will covet. I hope we go for him personally.

Jones officially gone now. Big Mick in charge for the game on Saturday.

Gary Sweet says we will take the time afforded to us by the World Cup break to recruit a new manager. Sounds like a thorough process although hope we don’t take too long with it. The break would also be an ideal opportunity for a new manager to get to know the players and get on the training pitch with them as well as prepare for the upcoming transfer window
