Good leverage for him to get a better deal at Sunderland if nothing else.

Seems a done deal.

Doesn't seem like Sunderland have tried very hard to keep him surprisingly. Maybe they want a big name personality for the next documentary series.

If another seemingly decent manager in Neil fails there I think that pretty much confirms what’s been said before that the problem lies elsewhere.

Be interesting to see what Sunderland do now. Get Roy Keane in for that documentary.

Reports seem to be that Neil is jumping ship as “not backed” in the transfer market which seems a tenuous excuse given who they have brought in this window, think they have spent pretty well overall for a newly promoted side and still linked with decent players too.

A big job in itself the Sunderland one that a lot of managers would be happy to get, decent young squad. Very interesting to see what other dominoes might fall with that move

Leaving a bigger club - but I guess money talks.
Surely he would look at the litany of managers before who have failed and not touched it with a bargepole. If they don’t go up again they will turn against him like every other manager.

If he got in front of them and gave one of his famous sell jobs, maybe. But id think theyd want a little more experience and success at a intermediate Club, along with a history of expansive, attractive football.

Probably not very surprising.

Danny Schofield sacked.

Was always going to be tough to live up to last season after losing key players.

Morison gone at Cardiff. Slightly surprised it’s this early especially as he did reasonably last season and got backed well in the summer, bringing essentially an entire new squad, but I have to say he never convinced.

Wonder which ex-Millwall forward they will go for now!!

Jones to Cardiff might be an interesting one. No inside info or anything but he’s a Cardiff fan so could see interest on his end perhaps

On a contract until I think 2027 so going to be very expensive for someone to buy him out of. Going to be at least £2.5M I’d wager.

In a couple of months time, it’ll be his 300th game managing Luton.

Corberan has gone at Olympiakos already. He did an outstanding job with Huddersfield last season and could see him being on many lists for clubs at this level perhaps including Huddersfield themselves.

As SMH pointed out on the match thread, could be a lot of openings coming up soon

Our next three games are against Rotherham, Hull and Cardiff. We could be against new managers in all three games!

Blow for Rotherham.

Not often you see a manager drooping down a division .

It's a huge disappointment but not entirely surprising.

He hasn't been his usual self in interviews this season and on the BBC podcasts he did with Carl Robinson spoke openly about the problems of outstaying your welcome at a particular club (as happened with his old boss here, Ronnie Moore).
He said he would hate to long enough to have the boo boys hound him out of his job.

He has been great for us with 3 promotions and a Wembley Tinpot Trophy win, but he managed 3 relegations during the same time period.
Though the first one was already a given when he took the job TBF.

He won't be given the same grace at Derby that Tony Stewart gave him but he will be backed in the transfer market more.

I have no idea if he can be successful there, it's taken a long time to build a squad that works towards an aim like we have here.
He is quite ruthless to players who are not totally committed to the cause, I'm not sure Derby's aging squad will buy into his work ethic and that's when he will have to learn to deal with bigger egos than he is used to here.

It could all work out for him but I fear the worst, still at least he can have a fat pay cheque if it all goes tits up.

Rumours up here are that it has been in the pipeline for weeks and a club insider told me that he was fearful he "would be leaving soon" three weeks ago.

What is sad is that he didn't use his "good human being" mantra to tell fans he was leaving instead of scuttling off to Portugal to play golf with his coaching staff but mainly dodge the storm he has left behind.

I would like to be the bigger man and wish him "all the best" but it's kinda stuck in my throat lol.

It’s amazing to me that Watford ever achieve anything given there is no such thing as stability for the manager. Mental way to run a club really. Just hope Edwards made sure he got a good severance package when leaving FGR.

Serie A clubs have worked that way for decades to be fair.

Only a matter of time until the Italians bail out and put all their eggs in a Udinese Champ League spot taking Pedro and Sarr for peanuts.

On average when it comes to Watford's last 12 managers, they last 29 games! But only 5 of their last 12 have done that!

Their most recent 3..... Edwards 11 games, Hodgson 18, Ranieri 14.

Yet they wonder why they achieve fuck all!

I'd happily swap their Prem/Championship yo-yo-ing, for our, erm... whatever we do.

Seems the CEO wanted to back Edwards this time and actually sacked our DoF last week but the Pozzos have stepped in and for whatever reason reversed the decision and sacked Edwards instead !

We always seem to have someone else lined up - this time it’s Bilic .

There was some doubts about Edwards and a few wanted him gone anyway but still feel bad for him and well what if Bilic doesn’t win more than 2/3 games early on?

Somewhere there has to be some collective responsibility?

Bad recruiting
Players not performing

Some same they already are concentrating on Udinese .

I think that is what they are scared of.

That not happening.

Edwards was getting a lot of stick from fans so not surprised he has gone but the way we’ve gone about it isn’t great .

Seems to be a split between owner and CEO.

Just shows really muddled thinking by Watford really, makes you wonder who is actually running things and whether they have any cohesive approach at the top.

If all you care about is short term results then why hire a young manager who is clearly going to be a bit of a “project” type? And then ditch him after 10 games. Should have been understood at the time he was hired that it might be about taking a step back to go forward in terms of results maybe taking some time but the overall foundations being put in would actually make them competitive at the next level over a 2/3 year period.

Reeks of a power struggle at the top to me.

Spot on really!

Basically the club and some fans cannot decide what sort of manager they want it seems .

We go from one sort to another every time .
They probably should have gone for a Bilic type of manager if the board wanted an instant impact rather than a young manager with a years worth of management experience.

Edwards was always going to be a bit raw tactically wise .
