Has there ever been a less eagerly anticipated local derby?

Players on the beach.
Fans looking forward to next season.
Pretty much zero fervour and edge between the fans.

Possible that it could well be almost ignored at the gates by the half-hearted support of both clubs.

Looking at how many has been sold, it would seem no one cares about it. Not sure if I'm going either to be honest as i have other plans.

I'm not going as at an event at the NEC (or whatever its now called) with work.

I was originally gutted, but as the season has dragged on it's not like its important to either club, and the game in August was good enough to last me.

It's nice to have them around in the league but I have little feeling for county in a derby sense, I think Doncaster will mean more to the Mansfield fans next season if they come down.

As for the game, meh - a draw?

We're far more up for it than we would've been at any time in the last like three months. Which admittedly isn't really that much.

Listen, I always want to see my club win, whether it's local derbies, tin pot cups, pre-season friendlies or the egg and spoon race. However, there seems a distinct lack of vibe around the local derby.

Maybe it's the disappointment from the whole of Nottinghamshire that Notts Championship winning promotion party was cancelled, sometime around last October?

I can't be arsed to travel to the game. Our season is over, it's just a case of going through the motions and completing these end of season friendlies.

Neither side cares cause there's note to play for.

Notts were awful in the first game, and were awful for a long period after. Expect us to get bullied once again.

Manny T to win 2 - 0 with wild scenes at the final whistle

If we won 2-0 I genuinely think there would be wild scenes at full time - but only as we'd have actually won at home - something we don't do often under Murray.

Looked like you'd won the FA Cup at our place me owd. Doubt it will be different this time.

We've been terrible against Stags for some time. I'm being dragged to the sister in laws. Don't care to be honest, this season just needs to end, takeover get completed and build for next season. That lad off radio Notts can keep dreaming about Stags signing Reuben Reid

Are we still pretending this is a rivalry?

Grrr....Mansfield. Inbreds. Adam Murray has no hair. Craig Westcarr is bad at football. Your chairman is weird. Covered everything there I think, see you all next season.

At least we agree on Westcarr. I'd expect stronger than bad from you though Bish!

He was rubbish for a bit then got injured. You'll sign him in the summer probs, we've got the French Roberto Carlos now.

Wait, you've only sold 4,800 including season tickets and 1,600 to us? And it's all ticket? You really don't care, fair enough.

The fact we barely sold those 1600 tells it's own story tbh

After the win up at Carlisle it would be good if we could put a good little run together at the end of the season - if we can surpass the 61 points we got in our first season back up that would be a positive.

A shame that it's at 1pm though - whats Notts police over-zealous concern over us is about baffles us all - they properly panic when we have the proper derby with that lot across the M1.

And now the police have told us that there will be no designated pub for away fans and all pubs in the town will be strictly home fans only. They really are daft - that's just asking for trouble. We are on the 8.45 train and will be heading straight into Mansfield town

That's Notts plod for you. They could easily designate The Talbot or The Rushley etc. Always eager to create something that ain't there in the first place.

I'd advise any county fan to get yourself in to the town's pubs (though maybe avoid The Vic, The Crown & Anchor and the Market Place pubs and stick to Leeming Street, Clumber Street, Church Street or the outlining places) and enjoy yourself. Sod the old bill and their unwanted meddling. I don't even know why it's a 1o'clock kick off - not like it's a Stags-Spireites hate fuelled timebomb.

It's weird that they were fine dealing with a 7:45pm kick off on a Friday at our place but not 3pm on a Saturday at yours. Especially considering you can bring more and it's more likely to be away fans causing any trouble.

They've really not thought that through at all. It's just going to lead to loads of people doing what we're planning and drinking around the Waterfront in Notts before piling on the last possible train, which can fit about 17 people on it.

They never do think it through - obviously the Saturday was unfortunate at your place with the Ashes being on, but then to move it to a Friday night when pretty much everyone took the day off and therefore out longer made no sense.

They "suggested" we went around the waterfront, but did the market and the town hall square instead - was a good day and thankfully no bother from what I saw - why should they be? Having lived in Manchester for 12 years now, I'm always surprised at why Notts police are so rough and heavy handed - the police here are very laid back and much more low key in the countries 2nd biggest city - if they can manage it here, no reason they can't back home.

If Notts fans can "brave" Mansfield you'd be most welcome in any pub i'd imagine - there might be an odd idiot but providing colours aren't obvious there should be no problems with getting in etc- a few real decent pubs in town too.

I've never known any proper beef with Notts and certainly couldn't imagine any aggro, unless some came looking for it. It's typical of how Notts police overreact to mostly everything. I've come across few worse knee-jerk police forces.

Mansfield town centre can be a bit lively and some places ought to be avoided, however, the Notts lot are a decent bunch and as long as they keep their hands off our 6 fingered sisters everything should go without incident.
