With the signing of Kane 'The Messiah' Hemmings, expectations may be a little too high for this game. This will be one of the toughest games we have all season and Luton will finish in the top 3. Should at least be entertaining but I would be more than happy with a point at this stage. 2-2

If we perform well and draw I dont think too many fellow hatters would be disappointed. We have an awful record at the Call Girl Arena - but id love us to win. Can only see a goal either way... 1-0 Town please!

Big game early in the season. Not too sure what to expect from us as we have had 2 decent home performances sandwiched what was by all accounts a poor away one at Barnet.

Going to be quite interesting to see how Jones deals with this game. 2 interesting characters, shall we say, on the side lines and whatever you say about Evans personality wise, there is no doubting he is a very good manager for this level. I've said previously that it is and under discussed point about this being a big season for Jones as a manager and this is the first major test for him and his ability to influence a game tactically. When Plan A doesn't go quite right, we always seem to me to very rarely have the ability to do anything about it and Evans seems the type who would be able to nullify our plan A.

I'm pretty confident however that we will get at least a draw out of the game, which I think at this stage would be a decent result against a fellow favorite for promotion.

I think it's anyone's game at this stage of the season.

We've a pretty tough opening month, so 4 points from Crewe and Accy away and FG at home is acceptable, though nothing more than that.

As i've been vocal about, they've either got to have Logan dropped or him actually coming out off his goal-line, the lads been a complete liability in the 3 games so far. In short Luton, put a decent ball in the box and you'll probably score.

From our perspective, we've looked alright going forward without the goals to show for it (though still scored 5 in 3), so Hemmings replacing Angol upfront may remedy this.

Hoping for 1,000 plus from Luton

According to our OS you have only given us a 1000 allocation. No idea how many we've sold but it does seem our fans are more interested in the Lincoln away game the following Saturday.
As for this Saturdays fixture. I can't believe we can play any worse than the last away game at Barnet. Mansfield seem to have had a reasonable start and no doubt Evans will have his team motivated for our visit. Not too concerned about our abiltiy to score goals. The potential problem could be our defence which can be prone to the odd error especially under pressure. Think this will finish 2-2 which will be a good result. A win would be a huge boost against a team who are also tipped to be right up there come the end of the season.

I don't get why people keep saying that we never do well at Mansfield. We have only lost one of the last seven league games at Field Mill (or whatever you call it nowadays). OK, we have only won one of the last seven, but one win, five draws and one defeat in the last seven games at Mansfield is hardly a terrible run. I'd be more concerned if I was a home team with that record.

If Kane Hemings doesn't score and Mansfield lose... will the peasants revolt? Very high expectations at the mill may spill over if the favourites can't compete with other favourites

Not feeling to confident about this, something that seems to get forgotten about is we had a huge turnover of players this summer and I'm happy with our start all considering, i.e. Stanley are unstoppable against Mansfield.

Steve Evans has not worked how to get anything close to the best out of this set of obviously talented players either, I'm going to go for draw hopefully it's got a few goals so it's entertaining.

I know Luton never travel well up here but anything less than a 1000 is a pitiful attempt.

August Bank Holiday weekend... Mansfield or a trip to nicer places than Luton/Mansfield with the family...

Id say 1000 is about average considering.

I appreciate Mansfield isn't all that, but it's not so bad to be compared to Luton. Come on?

Ppl say you don't do well at Mansfield as you've won 1 league game at field mill, ever.

And that was under adam Murray whose tactics were more boring than a library

Genuinely wouldnt like to live in either. Mansfield is a dump. Only reason i go into Luton is for the team.

Might turn round and bite me but Id be happy to see Hemmings play over Angol. He left with some dubious back and forth comments if I recall correctly, so he's bound to get some stick and will be motivated to play well and bound to score. Point to prove as he never kicked on as he and others expected after leaving.

On a different note I'd certainly have Luton as favourites, both for the game and for the league - much better side than what we've got.

If Luton were ever going to improve their dismal record at Field Mill, tomorrow would be the day.

I don't think they have a much better side, but I do agree they should be favourites for the league not so sure about tomorrow mind.

Both are going to be in the top 5 come end of the season.

I wouldn't say never. I remember the last time both Luton and Mansfield were involved in a promotion scrap in league 2. They had to move your fans out of one of the home stands to cope with the overflow. I'd rather forget the result. I guess in recent years you could say we haven't brough the same numbers for other fixtures in that area. Just a case of Mansfield not being an attractive fixture in the same way that we don't get many visiting our town. If our official site states we have got a full allocation of 1000 tickets then we can hardly bring more than that. I believe that allocation is just about sold out.

You would of got given more than that if the demand was there, if you ain't sold the initial 1000 by now it's clearly not.

Folk can just turn up on the day anyway, it's really no big issue.

So is Luke Berry eligible for this one? I presume so.

we do always seem to have taken pretty crappy away followings here. It seemed every away game in the Conf was like a Winter Tuesday night, but still a poor destination for us thats relatively easy to get to.

Luton are essentially trying to put together a League 2 "Galacticos" and Evans is too stubborn to admit that some of his preferred starters are a liability at the moment.

Fully expecting him to start with Logan, Diamond and Mirfin, so if the "Home Form" Luton Town turn up, they'll have enough opportunities to better their Yeovil innings....I mean score.

I'll be keeping a very close eye on Logan today. He hasn't done much right to date, but also the season is 3 games in. He needs to start coming off his line.
