Hahaha brilliant this, if anyone has the footage of the last 10 minutes please post. Let's be fair, you can spend as much money as you want but Mansfield will always be amateur and that ending is comical. Not good enough for top 3 but you'll make play offs.

Fancy Mansfield reserves being above the first team by the way what's that all about

That's cool.

There is no way Mansfield were even more dominant in the second half. Luton were on top when they changed the system, hence scoring the two goals. Evans admits Angol's goal was on the counter; it was against the run of play.

I'm with Kenny for a change. It could be argued they were more dominant than us in the second half, but no way in hell comparative to the first half - way tighter half. Still I was very impressed with the Stags though - a superb point for us. Could be a mental game changer for an extended time

Perhaps I didn't give Mansfield enough credit last night. They were a horrible team to play against; they stopped us playing and get in your faces (on and off the pitch), which is what you've got to do in League 2. We didn't get tight enough to their players and allowed them too much room to play. David Mirfin is a top centre half at this level, but we knew that already.

It was written in the stars that Angol would score - he's a player who had something to prove against Luton as he left under a cloud, but he appeared a better and stronger player when I saw him play for Peterborough a couple of years ago.

It's a weird thing to say that we controlled the second half. The majority of the half was played in our half of the pitch. Our midfield spent the majority of the second half chasing the ball.

Is anbody really surprised from that comment by Evans. He was charged up and no doubt gutted at not winning the game. No surprise either that a manager sees the games differently to the fans. Jones has also come out with some baffling post match statements in previous games.

We had to come out second half and get a goal so our attacking play increased and as the half went on we looked more threatening. Mansfield second goal came from a counter attack. If the game had been decided on points then Mansfield would have won on their first half dominance. I feel however we had the better of the second half. Fortunately the game is decided on goals and therefore we got a very valuable point. You expect home teams to have more possession and put pressure on their opponents and you certainly expect a team that has brought in some quality players to do so. A very pleasing result and one we can build on.

His reputation grants him immunity from critique. I just think it's an interesting comment given that Evans is heralded by our fans as most wonderful football manager to have ever lived. At the end of the game our fans were clapping him down the tunnel saying it was unlucky. When you go in 2-0 up at half time and the opposition gets two goals back in the second half it should really be raising questions about what was said at half-time and why the mentality was so different. Also, that penalty and the follow up was pants. We cannot afford to continue missing penalties and throwing away points like this. There needs to be an inquest.

Yeah, suppose you are right. I mean, which is more relevant, results going back 86 years, or results from the last eight games? As I said, I'd be more concerned about having a recent home record against any team where we only had one win in the last eight games, but if you are still creaming yourself about results 86 years ago, carry on.
Bye now.

Well as you were the one that brought up the conversation, then got proved wrong and made to look stupid then I guess you'd want to retract the statement.

Bye now

Im sorry but although Mansfield did indeed look good, theu wanted it more from the off, that Ref may as well have pulled on a Mansfield shirt from the off too. Diabolical performance. Wasnt up tp it at all and lost control of the game which is why both teams were given so many yellows. They were mostly frustration linked yellows. Steve Evans should never have stayed on that touchline the useless, fat twat.

Mansfield looked decent with your two up top but lost it as soon as they went off. The replacements couldnt get up to the speed of the game at all. Hate playing Steve Evans teams and another starting XI of giants for Mansfield again.

Agree don't like playing his teams. At least at this level with the emphasis on a physical style of football. His sideline antics are fairly amusing though. Think it was Cuthburt who looked like he handled the ball first half which would have resulted in a (another!!) free kick in a less than dangerous position. Evans reaction was as if his team had been denied a last minute winner. I though at first somebody had knicked a piece of chicken from his bargain bucket. :bg: You would never get such an animated reaction from Jones....errrr:whistle:
Joking aside the game does need characters. I have a feeling Evans may need his hard hat when he comes to KR.

Yes it is, and true.

Awkward when Lincoln have spent more than mansfield.... maybe not on wages but definitely transfers.

Good game really, Luton showed their quality and sort of deserved a point. I think we also showed that this season we can be one of the best teams, Mellis was class in the middle.

Also for the pen, i was right behind the goal and it was a clear handball but I'm not sure the ref would of seen it as clearly?

Awkward when the bookies' favourites for the title (due to money spent on wages and transfers) are sat in 14th. Be sure to warn everyone when your assault on the top half begins.

Bless. It's like you've the ultimate inferiority complex.

You won a league game for the first time in about 7 years, you've probably just got overly excitable.

Don't panic sweetheart, we'll comfortably finish above Lincoln. And I'd take a place below a very good Luton team - because they'll go up. However, we have enough to finish higher than them.

Nobody ever won or lost anything in August.

WOW, I mean, WOW. Spectacular, even for you. THREE incorrect statements in just one sentence. Just 'cos your manager spouts crap non-stop, doesn't mean that you have to follow suit.

Anyway, I'm moving on now, Lincoln next. Now, although we did lose our FIRST THREE games there, 1897-1900, we haven't lost any of the LAST FIVE visits.

What a load of crap!! Lol
Placement means nothing after 4 bloody games,
I'm sure it's points difference that concerns form,
We are 3 points off the mix, I'm terrified!

We've played Luton and was the better side, by a mile at times,
Let's have this conversation in a month.

Thought it was a great game and both sides showed why we are tipped to be near the top only one team in it first half but Luton definitely had the better of the second by a distance though we had some counters and one paid off.

The ref was like a parody, clearly tried to keep his cards in his pocket initially but by doing so lost all control of the game and then started lobbing them about all over. Evans antics annoy the hell out of me but was there any real need for the big I'm in charge showing? Jones was just as bad I would have sent em both off just to get on with the game.

If Luton don't win the league with that team they may as well jack it in Stech is a monster, Mpanzu has a bigger engine than a 32 wheeler, Shinnie, Sheehan, Stacey all very impressive. Collins didn't do much but credit to him got his goal. Hylton always a handful and that voodoo mind trick he does not to get booked is awesome think I counted 8 fouls and did he actually get a yellow?

If I have my home biased in full flow I'm puzzled how Sheehan stayed on the pitch when he had been booked then blatantly tripped Bennett but these things happen.

I would have taken a point at kick off and it was great entertainment so onto the next one.

Great game in fairness, and probably in the end a point was about fair. We dominated for the first 50 odd minutes then Luton had more of the ball without completely testing us (Logan didn't really have a save to make), but they have two strikers up front who will score out of nothing which is why you pay big money for them. Luton are a very good side, and i would be very suprised if they don't finish in the top 3.

FWIW, i sit behind the goal & it looked a definite penalty to me. Difficult to see on the video but Cuthbert's arm was raised and it hit his arm. Poor penalty though from Spencer, who really shouldn't have come on as Angol was still causing big problems for Luton.

Evans & Jones played the parts of the frustated footballers turned managers as they spent more time on the pitch jumping around then they probably did in their whole playing careers. The referee should've sent off both of them to be honest.

Jones is a total Tool! Just as much as Evans is one at times.

Oh, as I said earlier, he's exactly the same as Evans, just as bad.

The only thing he hasn't got is the proven track record of success than Evans has.

That said, the thread on Stagsnet berating Jones for his antics when we've got Evans on the sidelines was also daft
