Can't argue with whats been said above, not the greatest game ever but it was good to see us scrap for a result, rather than buckle as we have done in previous seasons. Don't buy Way's comment about the pitch, it looked fine, we tried to play it out from the back but without Tom James playing we simply can't do it as well.

Special mention for Dean Ashton on Quest for saying that the key behind our good form was signing John Welsh. :ffs:

The uneven thing will probably be a reference to the bump in the goal mouth, I guess? That's been there as long as I've been a Town fan though and will have been there every time Way has been to BP too. With regards to the dryness of the pitch, I've never heard anyone complaining about a pitch being too dry before, nor have I heard of us drying it out on purpose. If we are though, surely that's our perogative? Plenty of clubs treat their surface to suit their game. Worth pointing out that we generally have one of the better pitches in the division.

To be fair to Darren he did infer that Grimsby have set the pitch up to suit themselves and that's the right thing to do. I think he was just frjstrated that we couldn't play our passing game but that's football, you have to be adaptable to be successful.

After 6 games? Come off it.

I’ve never seen us water the pitch before a game so I don’t see why it should be any different from other games. What is your normal game?

Our normal game this season is a quick, passing game. Very different to the mainly hoofball of the last couple of years.

I'm no expert of pitches and it wasn't me playing on it but it looked perfect to me. I was just wondering why each goalmouth area at Blundell Park is raised slightly and uneven. Very quirky but like Son of Cod says, it's always been like that.

I accept that some teams like to pass and some like to hoof it but i believe a professional footballer at any level should be able to adapt reasonably well to any surface. Smooth or bobbly, wet or dry. I mean it's not like the surface at Blundell Park was akin to the Dog and Duck pitch on a sunday morning and thus the difference in standard and quality being cavernous.

It's a fair question from MrGloverLover though and interesting the responses.

We also set up to play quick passing football this season so I'd be very surprised if we intentionally set the pitch up to negate that. Agree with what you say in that successful teams should adapt to different surfaces and that home teams can have their pitch however they want it, to a reasonable degree. It was a hot weekend so probably just an oversight.

The slope is for drainage purposes, mate. The pitch is the original pitch, by the way. Well it was a few seasons ago at least and I don't think it's been relaid recently, could be wrong on that though.

I believe it was relaid towards the end of our spell in National League SoC
