Just back in from Barrow v Lincoln
that's probably the best we have played so far this season Cook could have had 4 and Haworth should have had 2, walker had one disallowed for offside, Haworth and Pilkington ripped the full backs apart and it could literally have been 7 or 8 if it wasn't for Farman in the Lincoln Goal. The big lump of a number 9 up front for Lincoln - Rhead was absolute pants.... don't know how he's top scorer on that performance - he looked like a Colin Cowpethwaite type player - but about 6 stone overweight...

How the game finished 2-2 I'll never know. Hurst is a very good player for Torquay but did concede the last minute pen for pulling Spencer to the floor, it was a definite pen and put a dampener of Hurst's performance.

The red card is one that will split opinion but I think it was the right decision, Styche is breaking away on a counter attack and Heslop with no intention of playing the ball and went straight through the back of Styche.

A first goal was awful defending, a hopeful cross into the box went over Verma's head but for some reason both the defender and the keeper went for the same ball and collided leaving Verma to just flick the loose ball in.

Still without a win and I felt like tonight was the night we needed it but on the other hand we're only 2 points of safety somehow and also this time 3 years ago we had 5 points off of 10 games then finished second FGR we're coming for you :2thumb:

Gutted but expected a loss before the game. We stole a 2 all draw last year.

5 mins to go and Constable is subbed for Todd who had retired and is now assist manager!
Doesnt look like the manager wants to win this, despite absolutely battering Alty.
Negative! but an away point.

Hardly battered. Two quality goals and a whole lot of pushing, shoving and whining from Richard Hill's million-pound army.

But Woking NEVER beat the top sides?

Deserved win tonight. 1st half was the best I've seen us this season and I've only missed one game, the 1-1 draw at Boreham Wood. FGR aren't a bad side. Big, strong, organised, move the ball quickly in the final third. But we were different class going forward.

Another injury for us tonight, Kadell Daniel, a winger, played 60 minutes at left back for the injured Chris Arthur. We'd be even better with Yakubu, Rendell, Ricketts and Jones fit. Missing Yak and Rendell might just cost us a play-off place or the title.

FGR have the depth and resources to win this league. I think they actually might, too.

No real complaints here lads, if Higgins had smashed the ball away to his left instead of the right we'd have hung on, small margins and all that.

Gutted, but we did it and worse to Macc a few weeks ago so what goes around comes around!

Just seen the goal, your defender has actually headered it backwards into Amonds path. Shocking defending.

Good win tonight, no idea how the Wrexham keeper wasnt sent off for taking Bowman down when he would have had an open net but at least Gillies scored the freekick. Wrexham reminded me of us last season, passed the ball around well but didnt have much end product and struggled to deal with direct football.

1-1 a fair score, but Grimsby were lucky to grab an equaliser with 10 seconds to go. Very proud of the way in which we matched Grimsby after the shambles at Tranmere on Saturday. Hannah was given motm, but I would have given it to Chapell. Young Sam Hughes looks a great prospect. Didn't hear who we gave motm to Grimsby (hate this aspect), but Bogle looked very good.

Alfreton 2 (Wilson 8, Robertson 22) Worcester 1(Hughes 68)

A really eventful and entertaining game at the Impact Arena tonight!!

We are look a shadow of the nervous and edgy side that started the season and are really beginning to build some real momentum with our 4th straight win.

We were absolutely brilliant in the first half and were rampant. Could have been 3 or 4 up and some of the intricate passing was excellent. Ryan Wilsons openng goal was superb, A 30 Yard screamer side footed in to the top corner after allowing the ball to come across his body! Look forward to watching that one on the highlights!

Robertson then doubled the lead with his third in 3 games.

Worcester were then give the chance to get back in to it as the otherwise excellent Heaton fouled Daniel Nti. He then got up and saw his penalty saved by Duke before he contrived to head the rebound over.

Then a real controversial moment as the Worcester Keeper Weston appeared to handle the ball outside the area when coming to collect a long ball under pressure from Robertson. Very similar to the Speiss incident for Torquay in that his momentum seemed to carry him outside the area. No consistency in the decision though as he was only booked

The ref then contrived to completely lose control as he became whistle happy and failed to punish a late challenge on Thanoj which looked a certain red. Worcester did reduce their arrears through the ever dangerous Lee Hughes but Alfreton withstood well to record a well deserved win.

The Ref then somehow added on 6 minutes when 2 were signaled by he fourth official. I have seen some shocking refs in my time but none as abysmal as Ben Cooke. Absolute dickhead.

Their 22 I think, absolutely no chance of pronouncing his name correctly.

Really enjoyed tonight's game. Lincoln didn't really offer much, but it could have been 1-0 to them within about 20 seconds, and they were still in it in injury time - our ability to kill off a game will come back to haunt us on a number of occasions this season. Not that we didn't come close. Farman has always impressed, and he was great again tonight, though Joel Dixon put in a top performance between the sticks for Barrow.
As above, Rhead was mostly anonymous, and if it was a straight choice, I'd pick Cook every time.
Good run of games (more home than away) coming up should see us move into a lower top half position, I reckon.

Excellent second half performance from us, we did to Wrexham what other teams did to us last year and got in their face from the off, chased down every ball and they just couldn't handle it. Same old Mill's, pretty tippy tappy stuff with no end product and no plan B, tactically out thought by Crosby tonight. Their keeper should have walked for his "tackle" on Bowman in the first half.

Incredibly comfortable 2-0 win this evening against Macclesfield. Bossed the first half and scored twice without getting out of first gear and the second half was a bit of a non-event with us cruising and Macc having a load of possession and doing nothing with it. Next three games of Woking (a), FGR (a) and Tranmere (h) will be our first really tough stretch of the season.

Just got in, atrocious first half from us, started the second on fire, but faded after the red card. Would definitely taken 2-2 at half time, but disappointing not to get the winner against 10 men in the last half hour. Good support from both sets of fans, but 0/10 for the "disco" in the Southport end.

A big step towards getting automatic promotion out of this league is by capitalising on more errors and making fewer errors than the opposition but what is also needed is doing one more of the former than the opposition in tight games. And doing that more often than the other teams near the top. Its all very well winning 4-1 quite alot, but we need to string together half dozen wins on the trot and 1-0s, 2-0s and 2-1s are fine. That's why this league is so tough, being a good football team is not enough. I don't think Alan Buckley would have necessarily got us out of this league, he just put together good football teams - with 4 or 3 going up that's often enough. Something else is needed and I can't quite put my finger on it - more steel in central midfield, being more resolute and turning the screw better? I was thinking the other day = we haven't won a championship for 35 years, last time we did we had a player called Joe Waters - now he would have got us out of this league...

No complaints about the result, deserved defeat in what was a good game.

Woking were a very pacey and direct attacking side, who put us under a lot of pressure. Their right winger Andrade caused us all sorts of problems, running rings around both our left backs, with Kelly in particular getting run ragged and eventually sent off. Dan Holman also looked a very good player.

Our goal was fortunate after an absolute howler from their keeper, but although we put a lot of effort in we didn't really look like getting the equaliser. We weren't going to win every game, vital to bounce back at Macc next Saturday though.

Didn't get a ticket for the away end so payed on the gate in the home end. Yes, Rovers never showed up first half, but when Harris pulled one back you could smell the fear in the home end and it looked like Tranmere we're going to run out easy winners up until their man got sent off, strangely Tranmere never got going again after that.
Even after being 2-0 down I think this is 2 points lost rather than 1 point gained and Southport fans were definitely the happiest leaving the ground at the final whistle.
Southport got the highest attendance in the National league last night, I bet that doesn't happen very often, also this was Southports 2nd highest league attendance since 1978.

Bet ya he still doesnt crack a smile though.
I would much rather have hill then the tub of lard excuse maker we have at the moment, brabin needs to start making some difficult decisions now if the players are not turning up fine or drop them .

We look fine just below the play off places until you realise we have already played the bottom 6

:woo:We're on our way now, I thought for a minute we were going to come away with a bloody point, but after Aspin's half time tactical retune didn't seems to be doing the business, a great bit of teamwork and simultaneous inspiration saw two of our players work in unison to break their striker in half in the penalty box. Pure magic. It was close but, phew. :ds:

Really easy win for Cheltenham last night, Macclesfield never looked like getting a point and were going through the motions towards the end. Pleased to have closed the gap on Forest Green but Woking on Saturday looks like it could be a real test of our title credentials.

Makes me feel worse, but you had a few chance prior to that anyway, remember bogle skying a shot two min prior to the equaliser.

Happy we matched you for long periods. looking forward to playing the 'vision' a little more now.

I was dreading the Grimsby after the Tranmere performance.
