Ashmore was excellent on Saturday too, i wss very impressed with him. Can he give our Superted some tips on dealing with crosses please.

Ashmore is top class. Won't be long until league clubs are knocking. Saved us many times last season, and will continue to do the same.

Atmosphere was decent, and Maidstone even had some smokes.

By 'smokes' do you mean 'flares'? Because they better not let any off on Saturday.

Two games, two decent performances, only one point. Not panicking yet, despite the toughie next up. I do worry a lack of goals will hold us back though.

Intrigued for Aldershot opinions on two apparent moments of controversy... our disallowed goal at 2-1 and then their third. Haven't seen any highlights yet but it seemed a fair delay before ours was chalked off.

Wasn't expecting much from these opening 3 games if I'm honest, would like to think we can come home with something from Gateshead!

I have no idea how we didn't win that game last night. I've never seen us so dominant and not win. Could and should have been at least 4-2.

Bromley hung on by the skin of their teeth with multiple goal line clearances and some incredible goalkeeping. We should have had a penalty in the last few minutes but the referee didn't seem interested in giving us anything. I lost count of the number of corners we had (at least 6 or 7 in the first 10 minutes of the second half).

More positives than negatives but we should never have lost that match.

Sounds like our 1st half at Gateshead, we must have forced over a dozen corners but produced nothing of note. Second half we were woeful. Gateshead are not as strong as last season - yet.

Yeah, I'd strongly advise against any Maidstone fans doing that. Although smoke bombs are very unlikely to set fire to a wooden stand, still carries that risk.

Wycombe have just given a ban to a kid for a smoke bomb http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football..._the_day&ns_source=facebook&ns_linkname=sport and I'd imagine ourselves along with the Met Police would push for strong action against anybody caught with one.

Yeah, I saw that.

Being somebody who watches a few matches abroad, I personally have no issues with them, but they simply don't work in England.

Looks like the fans (well most of them) on the Maidstone forum want them to be found out with action taken. Seems they had a flare at their home game with Maidenhead on Saturday which left a burn mark on the new stand.

Anyway, 4 points from 6. I would have taken that before we kicked off. Fylde at home and Daggers away next two, again I would take 4, but reckon we'll get 3.

Solid enough start.

There's no doubt our fans will at least try and get smoke bombs into Stonebridge Road, given that they've done it at Maidstone (& again at Kent Cup final), Dartford and Deal (lol).

Not got a problem with it myself, they're harmless (unlike flares) and can look quite decent. Not ideal if you are elderly/asthmatic and the smell is unpleasant.

As fans we get very unpleasant, very quickly, when flares get set off by away fans. Anyone bringing them in should be forced to watch the videos from the Bradford fire.

That was a good game in terrible weather conditions. A draw was probably a fair result with both teams having a number of chances. It's hard to tell after playing each once, but Hartlepool did seem to have better individual players than Wrexham who could cause more problems in an instant - particularly Donaldson and the two strikers.
4 points from the first two (very difficult) games is a great return for us but Pilkington and Durrell picking up bad injuries could really hurt us in the long run.

Quite an entertaining game last night. Our defensive frailties causing us more problems again giving you a couple of chances.

Thought we looked the better side for 70 minutes of the game, but thought you looked more likely to score goals in the 20 minutes you were on top (and you did score one).

Much more positive performance from us, though. Couple of tweaks, and hopefully a new centre back, and I think we will start to pick up the wins we need.

The lad who get stretchered off, he was a canny little player. Caused our stand-in left back all sorts of problems. He's exactly the type of player we don't have, and could do with getting. Hope for your sake he isn't badly injured.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised. Deal? For a friendly? Hahaha

Yes, just after we went 1-0 up. I hope it was ironic.

The Chairman went over and told them to pack it in. Hahaha

Yes, I did think you edged the game overall, but our centre backs were rocks as per the last game. The winger who was stretchered off was Durrell, who has looked excellent so far - I don't think his injury is believed to be too serious although he will obviously miss a few games.

I would be surprised if you didn't finish in a play off place off the basis of that game. I don't think there will be 7 better teams.

That's good to hear. I feel we were still a long way off what I would expect us to be, so play offs should be our expectation at a minimum.

I think Dover were more solid at the back thank Macc, but they offered little going forward. Would expect you to be involved in some entertaining games this year, whereas Dover will most likely be 0-0/1-0 games. Just based on the two games, anyway. Durrell looked important for you though, so glad the injury isn't as bad as it appeared.

LOL. We completely dominated the game and some of the passing moves were excellent, as good as I have seen from a Rovers side for a long time. We have obviously benefited from the continuity of keeping last season's squad together and Norburn and McEverley look great acquisitions.
So you thought it was a near faultless performance?

Undoubtedly we deserved the win and there were spells of real quality, though not total domination. I believe we can and will get better as the players become more familiar with their team-mates, even last night with more clinical finishing we'd have scored 6 or 7.

Still searching for our first win but I thought it was a decent enough game. Extremely rare to see Danny Rowe get subbed as well, just wasn't his night really. Onto Saturday we go

Big Ryan Astles had him in his pocket.

Can't see how peole say there's no difference between L2 and the Conference. Definitely can see a difference in quality. If Dover were a L2 side they'd have beat us 2 or 3-0 but then we probably would've had that penalty in stoppage team with a league standard ref. The finishing looks more clinical in the division above, which is good considering we have Scott Harrison and Liam Donnelly who won't get punished as much here. Didn't go last night but watching the highlights, Macc did get in some great goal scoring positions but we weren't made to pay, a similarly mid to higher L2 side would do. On the flipside, Munns should've put us 2 up straight after the equaliser.

One or two new players and a settled XI and formation, then we'll kick on.

We should've been completely out of sight by the end, we had enough chances and hit the woodwork enough times. We tore them to pieces at times going forward.

You can see we're still very much a work in progress without the ball though, the communication and chemistry still isn't quite there - Which is why this season we need to be patient and accept that the odd mistake is going to happen with us.

Solihull were very abysmal though, dirty side as well, shouldn't of had 11 men on the pitch at the end as well, their number 7 should've been sent off along with the other 6 yellows they had for late tackles.

Apart from Darren Carter, they were awful. If Carter gets injured, they're well and truly screwed.
Your right about us. Our side has been constantly weakened since we were promoted to this league. Yesterday, our back four and goalkeeper were all making debuts and they're quite clearly not good enough for this league. We did have a few players out, including our centre back Joel Kettle who wasn't fit because he'd just got back from holiday :ffs:
Fair play to Orient, Brisbane road was loud yesterday. Up there with Tranmere with best home atmosphere.

Pretty much yes. You won't see a side play better, more entertaining football at this level. I don't think Woking are that bad a team but apart from a great ball from Ward for their goal, they barely laid a finger on us.

I am not making any predictions about where we will finish as Aldershot and Daggers look very strong again, but we are a better side than last season on that evidence.

If you did not enjoy that Tranmere performance, you won't enjoy any.

I think wokings biggest problem was the hoof up to the big centre forward we were all shouting hoof before it happened in the paddock so if we could predict it im sure an ex international defender had no difficulties calling it

Cheers, for that. Didn't know that you had a completely new backline! - We're in a similar position ourselves. Alot of the part ime teams will find our pitch hard work due to its larger size.

You need to keep Carter fit, literally everything you did went through him.
